Ripfire

Everything was still blurry. His vision remained skewed, the entire world itself turned sideways. Shapes gradually came into focus, though color took time to develop. The great brown trunks of trees stretched up to a solid grey sky. The world still was surrounded by remnants of fuzz and haze. It was hard to tell if this was real or not; if he actually existed. Blood rushing to his head quickly gave him the answer. He slowly picked his head up from its up-facing position on the hard ground. He was lying on his side under broad exposed tree roots. He stared down at his small pup body entangled in the strong roots. It must have kept him safe. He tried to crawl out easily as he could, but it was like he couldn’t control his own body. His tiny muscles ached more then he thought possible, as he let out a small, frustrated whimper. Finally out, he stood on his paws shakily. Everything around him was brown and green. Nobody else was here. He suddenly noticed a warm, metal-tanged wetness on his cold lips. It was blood; his own. It didn’t startle him; it actually made him feel more tired, as if he wanted to crawl back under the tree and drift back into sleep. He dazedly looked along the ground and blinked his eyelids hard. He was looking for anything. He finally took realization of a nearly dried up pond about 20 feet away. He simply stared at it, afraid of what he might see in the murky reflection. He knew he had to look at himself, though; just to know. With an excruciatingly slow approach, he at last peered over the water’s edge at himself. A shaking, white pelted pup looked back at him with big golden orbs. His black lips were slightly open in shock as he looked at the symmetrical, coal black markings under his eyes and up around his auds. In a way, it was a tribal tattoo; a permanent reminder of where he belonged. An awakened thought slapped him across the maw and widened his golden eyes. Ripfire. His name was Ripfire. It was kind of an ironic name for this defenseless pup. He had no idea how he remembered it, because everything else was a mystery. He didn’t know how he got there, who was with him, where he lived, or why he was under a tree with a bleeding lip. He so badly wanted to cry, as he felt the tightness in his sinuses, but he didn’t know what to cry about. He was choked up, because he didn’t know anything.

Deep down, however, this pup was no ordinary whelp. He had more power to him than he could have ever imagined. In truth, there were two wolves that lurked within the same body. The other wolf within was still sleeping, waiting to be unleashed.

Justicar

Alabalester paws padded the muddy forest floor. a small sigh escaping blackened kissers. His coat would be dirty. Again. His slender and powerfull body made it's way through the undegrowth, and soon arrived at a small open spot, with a small puddle. His gaze fell on little to nothing interesting. But then a familiar scent invaded his nose, all the way up to his brain. Wolf-blood. And fresh too. He froze, and lowered his body, almost if like he was hunting. His golden orbs scanned the place again, more carefull now, and searched for small signs, like blooddrops and pawprints,he had previously overseen in his unintressed state. He then saw with which kind of wolf he had to deal with. A pup. Great. He was probably abbondened, perhaps a refugee. Mostly helpless. Justicar wasn't here to fend for lost pups, but he could get some information out of this one.

The initial shock kept Ripfire from realzing the small rustling sounds in the distance. It was only until the noise was right on top of him that it finally hit his auds. He was petrified, but frozen in place. He had no idea what kind of things this forest held, and it was clear something was coming. His breaths became hushed and ragged, trying to keep quiet. A dirtied, white wolf had trudged his way through the muddy slosh of the deep woodland and broke through the layer of underbrush to the little clearing. Ripfire mostly just thought he looked big. The wolf took a quick scope of the place, seeing nothing that interested him. Ripfire wanted to run, but he was so close to him it would be impossible to be unnoticed. So he stood there just out of direct sight, staring. Then suddenly the wolf began to scent the air, sinking into a hunting position. Ripfire's orbs widened. The wolf smelled him. He had to flee now, but it was to late. He saw him. As the other wolf's golden gaze looked down at him, his mind raced for a way to escape. But all he could think was, Don't kill me, Don't kill me, Don't kill me...In impulse, he asked quietly, "Who are you?" For all he knew, he could actually be a friend; someone he knew before he woke up with almost no memory...but it was unlikely, and he was probably a foe to him. He didn't brace himself; he tried his best to look confident, but it wasn't going to do him much good now.

Justicar

"Who I am? Depends on who you ask I would say. Most call me Justicar though, altough it's more of a title." He stopped, realizing he had been ranting a little. "But I think the more important question here is, little one, who are YOU?" Justicar tried to sound something close to enthousiastic, but he wasn't really. He was more likely bored, of all the long travels and fights the past few weeks. All the hard work had been for naught, because at the end his target had escaped, dissapearing into the desert. And now he could go explain the situation to his elders. This little stray pup offered some kind distraction over the preachings he was going to call over himself.

He had been around the borders of FnI for months, sometimes even several miles over, but never in pack lands, or other more intresting places. It had mostly been running from there to there, chasing ghosts, and sometimes killing one. Altough the head prize always had remained out of his grasp. Sadly though, he would have enjoyed taking down that last one. But he had outsmarted him, and that had costed the life of a fellow justicar. Not that he knew her name though. Nor that he cared also...

Ripfire tried to answer his question, but he couldn't help still feeling scared inside. The strange black markings under his golden eyes didn't hint how nervous he was, but once he stumbled over his words they did, as they quivered with the muscles in his face. "Uh...uh, my name's Ripfire...I think. I don't remember how I got here...or who I am." There wasn't much more he could say, because there was no other way he could spin it: he had complete amnesia over everything that had happend before now. It was impossible to describe the feeling of not knowing anything about your existance. "I just kind of woke up under one of these trees, and then you came." The wound on his black lips stopped bleeding, not that the injury was very serious in the first place. Suddenly, his curiousity picked up a little bit. "So where are you going?" Even though the other wolf's presence was unnerving, Ripfire would much rather be closer to a stranger than alone in the wilderness. He had a million other questions, but right now he just wanted to see if he could follow Justicar.
