| Zelda's response to the young wolf was an automatic return of a smile and a tail wag. There was caution to be had with newcomers it was true but when you got to be her age you learned how to read a character and trust your instincts. The wolf was obviously young and from the slightly lean figure she saw obviously alone. She liked his forthright manner and how he politely got to the point. That was the nice thing about travelers in these parts usually there was little deception and game playing. Her mind flashed over to the nasty games that some of the darker wolves played but she put those thoughts aside needing to stay focused.
"Pleasure to meet you Finni." Her voice was gentle and welcoming, again her tail wagged. "I am Zelda, I am....well I am..." Here she faltered in stating her rank because in truth she was not entirely sure where she fell anymore. Since the merge of the two pure packs they had not really gotten a chance to completely settle and organize the hierarchy. "Well at the very least I'm the advisor to the pack and most certainly almost a landmark here." She joked simply about her obviously more aged state. Zelda had been in these parts for a long time now. "Forgive the confusion, we've recently undergone some changes but truly there could be no better time to join." Just then another call cut through the air and her ears pinned to her head in momentary surprise. No way there was another already? Amazing..It was either word had spread about their expansion or fate had dealt them a lucky hand. That two wolves would try and join in the same moment! She could not help the excitement that trilled through her bones.
Looking back at Finni she laughed softly. "Surely that must be a companion of yours? I will have to take you to the alpha and we'll have a small interview if you would like to join." Again she stayed smiling waiting for the young bru's answer.

| White ears twitched at the call of a young wolf. He had heard more than his share of young ones. So much pain to be heard and felt. He shook his head to rid his mind of the thoughts.
He moved his way through the trees and grass towards the scent of the young wolf, now accompanied by another scent. A female, adult female. Likely a member of this pack, maybe even the alpha.
He spotted the two standing, talking though he couldn't hear the words. He gave a soft, short howl of greetings.
His white coat was thick and covered the scar behind his ear but a black scar shone clearly across his left front paw. He stood gracefully stern, his head even with his back as he waited for the others to note his arrival.
(ooc: Short yes. I'll get back into the swing soon been years.)

| While he waited, his eyes closed in thought. He was struggling to remember what etiquette had been taught to him; Sir hadn't much cared for proper etiquette as, he said, they were merely 'two lonely bachelors with no need for such frivolities'. The elderly wolf had taught him the basics, but that was a long time ago. When he met the Alpha, what posture should he assume? Tail back, down, or tucked? The he-wolf's tail twitched slightly, but otherwise he remained motionless. And his ears? Perked up, cocked sideways, turned back, or flattened? His ears twitched. Upon hearing the sound of paws pressing down grass – quite a welcome sound, after being in a sandy area for most of his life; his ears perked up. Someone's gaze – he couldn't quite catch a definite scent in the breeze; bore into him. Despite that, he remained still. Although he doubted it, it could merely be a deer, or a fox, or something akin. No need to get excited for something so little. The sound of the woofs made him open his eyes, and he stood, looking at the she-wolf. She didn't appear agitated, or threatening, so he smiled and perked his ears, wagging his tail. He had given up on remembering all the social niceties, and so chose to go with what felt right. If he was wrong, well, he'd have to be corrected. A rouge doesn't always go by the strict etiquette of a pack. “'Ello, ma'am.” he responded, somewhat uncertainly. “I was looking to join-” he paused. Her, or the, pack? She seemed to be an authority figure, so he settled for “your pack.” Finni hoped he was correct in his assumption.
The awkward wolf ducked his head slightly. “Pardon. My names Finnian, but call me Finni if you're of a mind.”

| The elder she wolf's ear perked forward as a call filtered in through the trees. It had been a long time since she had heard such a sound. No one had come to their pack in a great while and who could blame them? What with the dark packs constant harassment and all. Time's were changing though, with the merger of territory between their old pack lands and the other pure pack they were sure to be a stronger front. Pleased that someone sought their attention Zelda stood, shaking her coat out and advanced through the trees. She kept a wary eye out for anything amiss, some things turned out to be far more sinister than just a hopeful recruit. She weaved in and out of the trees, her tri hued coat blending well with the forest. Soon enough she would approach the glade, the outermost portion of their territory that visitors frequently found themselves in first. Nose down she was diligent in smelling the air, making sure that no suspect odors came along. She would take the long way to check for the wolf's entrance and beside it might give her time for backup to arrive on the scene, though she doubted that she needed any. It was easy enough for her to pick up on...his 'Yes definitely a male' trail and she marked the somewhat awkward progression of the tracks. Interesting, they seemed a bit erratic but that could be due to an injury or something akin to that. Picking her way out of the woods she edged close to the end of the trees pausing to peer into the wide stretch of glade that marked this area. Many insects buzzed their tunes in the grass an the birds chattered happily in the canopy along the edges. This was a good place to meet newcomers the only cover provided was the tall grass that canvassed the area. Sure enough sitting serenely was a wolf, his eyes closed but clearly alert. She paused for a moment studying him and saw that he was a young wolf. It was dangerous to be alone at such an age but life was so rarely fair in that regard. Unsure of how well his tracking abilities were honed she decided to take a obvious approach and lowered her head letting loose two small woofs to get his attention. Once she was sure that he had heard she began moving towards him cutting through the tall grass, enjoying how it ticked her belly. "Hello stranger!" She called softly "How may I assist you today?" She smiled gently waiting for his reply. | |

| It had been a very, very long trek. For a yearling, even longer. His legs burned and his hips ached, but still he kept on. Still, despite his head hanging low to the ground, his tail whipped from side to side and his ears perked up. Just a little longer, he could already see the territory he approached.
The blonde-pelted pup lumbered passed the boundary markings, focused on his target. Through word of mouth he knew he needed to get to the Singing Glade.
The male knew he found it quickly. The sound of singing birds and humming bugs drew him, and the wolf known as Finni perked up his head, trotting into the Glade. Turquoise eyes drifted shut as he listened to nature's symphony, standing still in the middle of the area.
The yearling opened his eyes at a slight lull in the wild song, and he cocked his head back, mouth forming a perfect 'O'. His voice weaved into the tune of the wild as wolf howls had been made to, announcing to any within earshot: “I am here!”
When he was sure he had to have been heard, the smaller-than-most-yearlings pup sat on his haunches and pondered, not for the first time, if someone had noticed his tracks in the territory. He couldn't help but to wonder if they, too, would mistake his odd paw-falls for a canine with rabies; it wouldn't be the first time. Finnian truly hoped not; he'd done his all to keep the tracks as straight as possible.
Well, now all he could do was wait. Like Sir had taught him, he sat up straight, paws neatly together (well, as together as he could get them), despite how awkward it looked what with his twisted hind paws. Tail wrapped around his paws, head up high, ears perked, eyes closed.
The scenic calm the pose exuded lasted only for a moment, as the yearling snickered. The position reminded him much of that feline he'd once seen, with its straight back and paws wrapped within its tail. He shook himself, and allowed his eyes to drift closed once more. He wasn't resting, merely waiting. The way he sat gave the appearance of a wolf twice, or more, his age. His ears twitched on occasion, listening for a fellow canine, but the rest of him didn't move in the slightest.
