| A desecrated land and a desolate pack. Fate had a cruel way of rearing its head for the ones with dark hearts, stranding them like castaways in the woods of an eternal fire. Echo could still smell the smoke as it smoldered beneath the bark of the birch trees, though it was by now hundreds, maybe thousands of years old, just as she could feel her toes sink between the ashes of ancestors she never knew. The heat of the fire had been captured into their hearts, burning with rage, as the rest of the land was cloaked in an icy mist. The autumn forest deepened with hues of red and orange, blurring together like flames, but here, her silver form was untouchable. Did any of the others feel as abandoned as she did? Did they remember the man that could walk between the flames with blue eyes that pierced their soul? His memories almost felt as if they had been branded into hers. Only in her nightmares, could she see herself, bent over and wretched with rage, though she knew that even in her waking hours, it was a form she would more often succumb to. How many others could fit into her body? Her own was enough. She had chosen a solo adventure to clear her mind, but the deeper she went, the more of the painful forgotten returned. Her lips hungered for the blood of the bitch that had taken all of this away from her, but she was still nowhere to be found, vanishing along with the man she had loved. If only moving on could come as easily to her as revenge. | |

| A path in his mind. That's what he always seemed to be trailing. Some sort of twisted path down a dark grotto. Would this madness ever cease? More to the question did he even want it to cease? At what point did he lose himself. Or maybe he had found himself. These were but the shallowest of questions that lingered in the young bruja's mind. There were others much much more reaching. A constant barrage of external input flooded his brain. Sometimes it was too much to take it but where he was from he had to ensure that it was never too much. His was not the type of family that allowed such a break. Letting out an exhausted sigh he plodded on. At least for the moment he was free from that spindly web. Here he found himself in another though...once again compulsion brought him forward to a new adventure. Back to the same questions. His compulsion? Or not? He viewed the world through one clear blue eye. An eye that belonged to several others of his known and unknown family. He was in unfamiliar terra now but that was almost always the case when he wandered. Rarely did it take him to places that he knew. Still he strode through the eerily quiet forest as if it were his own home. Better than the itch of sand constantly under his coat. It was quiet and damp here, the forest seemed to be absorbing sounds in a strange way. Still he plodded forward not sure what he would find this time. | |

| The forest spoke to her in an ancient language only she knew. Every leaf that fell to the ground, every droplet of water that slipped into the stream, and every single creature that shared the mist with her was like a soft orchestra, echoing the life that once blossomed. Some may have said that the woods were silent and eerie, with their crooked oak trees and even more crooked paths, but the young wolf could think of nothing else she would have preferred. It was almost as if she could hear his voice, whispering to her. She knew the reality was that she had wandered far from her pack. Far, far from her pack, she wouldn't have been surprised if they were wondering if she was going to come back. If she was going to vanish like so many other souls had, lost in the woods, and never returning home. At the moment, what they thought did not matter, but her heart wished for their companionship. However, it was not because she was afraid. These were her grounds, her Sacrifice Forest, and while she was not afraid of anything within them, she had the sense to respect the darkness that lay before her. By doing so, she would walk without being harmed. Many days had past. Echo had rested, but now her heart pounded and she stretched into a lope, nose on the hunt. Deer. A young doe, perhaps her first season, prodding through the trees and eating maple seedlings. However, fate had a different plan, as Echo slowed her pace and lingered behind a woody bush, muscles coiled, waiting to strike. | |

| He saw her long before she would come to see him. Her energy like wildfire, wrapped tight and angry in a vessel too small. He tracked her movement through the ancient wood, pausing in his stride. As she moved further away he began his path towards her, drawn to that same energy. Something interesting is going on here I think... The forest alone pulsed with an a strange energy. His padfalls were silent as he expertly picked his way around crunchy leaves. It was not long before she arrived in his true sight.Crouched low, he saw her, in preparation to stalk some unseen prey. She was all quicksilver and fire ready to unleash her fury in these eerie woods. He found himself enraptured in watching her. Something so...familiar but not at all rang about her person. With his dark black pelt and one blue eye he could never know the resemblance he held to that half brother of his. A half brother that had set in motion so much without ever knowing. A father who's mark left a whole world in disarray. He did however know of the mark of his mother who would also be set to smear her trail on this world. Another step forward towards the fem and just so very intentionally he put his weight down on a crooked stick , SNAP it trailed through the forest with such clarity as if being aided by something other. And then he waited. | |

| Something snapped in the forest surrounding her. Silver hair bristled on the back of Echo's neck, sharp amethyst eyes glaring through the underbrush, wondering who dared to interrupt her hunt. The young doe's ears flopped upwards at the sound, now alert, her own eyes looking for the predator. Echo inhaled, hoping to catch wind of the other one, but could only smell the decay of the autumn woods. Something else stirred in her chest; something primal, a part of her wondering if there was a bigger, more monstrous creature that saw her as the hunted and not the hunter. Mountain lions were not uncommon in the deep woods of Sacrifice. She crouched lower, waiting, holding her breath, heart pounding in her ears. Suddenly, the young doe skittered away, and instinct won out. Echo bolted after it, leaping over fallen logs and darting around tall, spindly trees, focused on the doe's ivory rear. If whatever was stalking her wanted to stalk her, they would have to chase, her too. And, if they caught her, they would learn that this would not be her first taste of bloodshed. | |

| Ears punched forward straining to hear this femme's reaction. Still her eyes were turned forward set on something he could not yet see. Instead he saw her body come alive with awareness, felt the air get thicker around him. His own body reacted as well. His black fur bristled and something got tight in his chest. He felt a surge of energy building higher and higher waiting to release. Moments later she launched herself and Odin felt the feeling snap inside himself. As if being pulled along on a chain his body launched forward after her.The instinct to herd, chase and catch flooded into his skull. But not kill...no not Kill. He slipped in a small dig of earth but it did nothing to truly slow him. He caught sight of her weaving through the trees, jumping over their fallen brothers. "Ah there is the prize." He thought as he caught a flash of white tail, bounding frantically away. The doe took a sharp left and he now found himself cutting that direction as well, the target now switched. He thought briefly about how chasing down someone else's meal was likely to get him attacked. No matter, he could do with some fun today. A growl built in his chest as he began merging down on the doe, the fiery fem no doubt to his right through the tree line chasing him down from behind. "At that's what I would do" Kicking on a burst a speed that was, in truth, reckless for his lack of familiarity with the woods. Odin overtook the doe as it slowed to navigate difficult terrain. Now he growl let loose loud and fearsome. The moment that would make or break a hunt. He began turning in to get in front of the creature, to at least route her.. | |

| The doe bounded through the forest faster than a jackrabbit. Echo bounded over the woody terrain, the hair still bristling on the back of her neck, reminding her that she was not alone. She swerved through the tree line and spotted a flash of sooty black chasing after her prey. Strange. Echo kept to her route, sprinting a wide berth around them, so that when they broke into the birch grove, she watched as an unfamiliar male snarled at the doe. He circled to route her, and Echo made her move. She sprang with her jaws open wide and clamping around the deer's soft neck, her weight dragging it to the ground. The doe bleated and whimpered, until Echo silenced it with a deadly shake of her muzzle. She dropped it, her silver maw now scarlet with fresh blood, and turned upon the male, her tail raised high and her ears shoved forward. "Who are you?" she growled, low and cautious, but not without a threat of her own. Suddenly, she paused, her aggression fading into confusion. She actually took a step back. Her breath caught in her throat and her chest twinged, like a crack in the ice. "No... It can't be you. You left. Can it..." She realized then that it had been so long since she had said his name. Speaking it had been a grim reminder of what he had done. "Damean?" And saying this aloud was a trigger to her inner demons. Her aggression flipped back on like a switch, and she launched at the hessian, seeing red. | |
