Jackie's cool smirk melted against her dark features. Least to say, Artair was more gentleman than rogue, so far. His tassel swished for hers and she moved hers slightly to the side, so that only the hairs touched. It seemed that she had initiated an unspoken game, but a familiar one. "Aye, she'll capture anyone's heart," she replied to his comment about the sea, stretching out like a turquoise blanket before them. "But she's more than beautiful. She's dangerous, mother of all storms and wicked weather. I should know. Were it not for her wrath, I would not be on this very beach," she said, and looked to the sky. It was tinged seashell pink, borderline red. "Red sky at night, sailor's delight. Red sky in the morning, sailors take warning."

She raised a brow at his question and snickered. Her tail flicked at his again, and she took a sidestep closer to him, insisting on the game. "That's a bit of a personal question, don't ya think? But thank you for the compliment... C'mon. There's still a lot of these lands I haven't seen yet, and the night is young. I could use a mate like you," she said, and then bolted from the spot, sprinting several paces upshore. She hoped that he would follow, she knew that he had caught his interest. She could taste his sense of adventure like she could smell the salt in the sea. Saturated. There was something about him that peaked her interest as well, enough for her to play the game with him, but she was never one to play all her cards on the first turn. She preferred a casual, whimsical approach. He was handsome, she would give him that, but she wanted to know the hessian underneath. "Let's see what treasure we can find," she said with a laugh, seafoam eyes dancing. Adventure always tingled her senses, and she became restless when she could not. So hopefully, Artair would follow...

There was the hint, a subtle tale of the wrath of the seas washing her upon the shore. How true of any that travelled under such perilous conditions, the ocean was not a place to enjoy a summer breeze. There was more to the story that the granite male sought, but it was clear such tales would not be given up so easily. A game had begun, and it would be through this that little leaks would come. While being of an upbeat nature, Artair was not without secrets. Sage hues flicked to the sky, auds up to catch a familiar tune. A delight it was, even more so with present company. The contrast of colour against the clouds a sight to behold, and what wolf could not find himself standing in awe? This was an understated scene, but held all the majesty, if not more, of any sunlit meadow.

The step triggered a light response, one which involved his attention returning to the matter at hand. He dug to deep, true, but there was a bit of stubbornness in the hessian, and he'd find his facts soon enough. The thickness set in, there was a moment, if one paid attention, that day turned to night in the air. A crispness that appeared and settled, seemingly invisible to anyone not paying attention. It was amplified by the vein-coursing sense of intrigue and adventure, that was so clearly shared. What a rarity, to find so early in the lands. Artair watched Jackie bolt forward, away and down the shore. His granite brought him quickly up to speed, and soon he was near her once more. "My dear, treasure has already been found! 'Tis only a matter of acquiring it." The charming smirk never left, and emerald hues danced along with hers. Mitts carried him further, pawlengths down the shore. "Keep up though, wouldn't want ya eating the sand I kick up." He said and paused to look back with a playfully challenging look.

He loped up to her, his grin as broad as a ship's open sails. She rolled her eyes. She had been hoping that he had at least some semblance of originality or something. Yet as her aquamarine eyes rolled they strayed back to his eyes, her tail brushing against his once more, her body still showing some interest. She watched his eyes dance with her and then he gave chase, bolting forward and kicking up sand as he went. "Hey!" she exclaimed, laughing, and sprinted after him. Her long, dark legs sliced through the crystal waters, sending the little minnows scurrying into the depths, her splashes speckling diamond-like water droplets on her coat. The sunlight caught her earrings and jangled as she caught up to him; he probably didn't know where he was going, either, but it didn't matter. She came up to his hock and nipped him playfully, hoping to startle him so she could take the lead. They were running for the horizon, the beach curving northwest to the pennisula's upper hook, so that the stretch of sand before them was now like a wide, flat golden desert, spare the waves crashing to their right. It would take them a while to get back to the rest of the pack, but for now, Jackie didn't care. She was having too much fun too care. "C'mon, now!" she barked at him. "Is your nose really that broken? I think you would've found the treasure by now!" It was a teasing gesture; for all she knew, there could be no treasure at all. It wouldn't surprise her if he just wanted time alone with her... Most males did, anyways.

Amor followed the lyrics of Jackie, giving the origin to the song which had set a more comforting atmosphere. He had not gotten the chance to meet the femme yet, so it was beneficial to least talk for a moment. Despite her rather recent entry to these beaches, she was set on dealing with the final resting place of the deceased; of a niece she had barely known. He was impressed by her action: it was a duty few would seem content with and yet she was experienced in the matters and willing to carry them out when the Alpha pair had a myriad of things to take care of. He bowed his crown to give his condolences and grievances once more and upon her words left to walk where Calypso and the others had gone.

Now, he dredged the secrets of the sea as he walked along its side, the occasional fringe of salt and foam giving his pads a reassuring wash before retreating backward, leaving only arrays of claw puncture marks lining the shores. His celestial sky hues took in the surroundings he was quite accustomed, but he continued looking for something, or rather someone, specific. He zoned in on Red conversing with Calypso, apparently informing her about patrols and…newcomers? He had not taken much notice to the darker bru who met with Yana earlier, but it was not long before Amor saw the seafarer race down the sands past him with Jackie at his tail. Two seafarers would make for an interesting, if not fitting bunch in these lands. The Alpha was in sight as well, his pups all around him, his mind on path to recovery.

Amor found himself caught between missions, no businesses to attend to at the moment: the head family was being tended to and there did not appear to be any present urgency to scout the borders. He sighed in this short hiatus of upheaval. He spotted the British Columbian among the spread mass of others, realizing he was in a somewhat similar scenario as he, awaiting direction once the pack settled. He shifted his trekking and came up beside Yana, who held a soldier poise away from the others. Amor looked about at the scene before them while beginning to converse: “Everyone seems to be going ahead from this well so far. Especially those two.” He directed his head towards Jackie and the new wolf running near the water. “Sooner than I expected,…but there isn’t much choice, is there?”

Eyes watched Amor's approach, determining what state the other was in. Not that he'd mentally push away a grieving pack member, but he wasn't the best wolf to approach with this stuff. Luckily, it seemed like the other was also waiting around, realizing there was little to do but be a watchful presence, just in case.

He considered the spoken words before responding, "Perhaps, but Artair, the new wolf, knows little about the situation. It was probably better to keep him away until Jack and Calypso are ready. He and Jackie probably can fare well because they didn't know Liar, and perhaps partly their ocean travels taught them. A bit more free, rolling with the waves, being able to move on more easily."

Looking at Amor, he said "Looks like you and I are the least expressive out of the pack who'd known her." Of course Jack and Calypso would be in the worst condition, but Red was looking like he'd lost his favorite niece. There weren't tears, but he did still look quite somber. The spark normally in his eyes had dulled. It was something Yana didn't quite understand, but found often in wolves who lost loved ones and so knew better than to question it to avoid offense.

The salty air was as much a breath of life as running with the wind, alongside a fellow seafarer no less. The sense of adventure and unadulterated entertainment was intoxicating, and for those moments, the island wolf's past left his thoughts. What mattered now was the moment, and he could only trade it for buried treasure! His attention averted to the fae, her ivories nip causing a light start, enough so that his emerald hues now followed her. He smirked playfully and continued the chase, rushing to her side and close enough to bump against her lightly. "No honor among thieves, mate. I will not share what I find, so best you find it first." Artair smirked charmingly, and bumped against her again, hoping only to set her balance off lightly enough to take point. The view ahead was plain, the green of the forest lay behind them, and it was clear the sand would end soon. Just as well, the more ocean views to soak in, the better. His pace slowed when the the ocean kissed the sand, only pawlengths away from Artair, and the granite hessian came to a halt. The breeze carried familiarity, a drive that he was sure he could share with Jackie.

The Black Pearl was a fitting place, but something was amiss. Not of the pack itself, but of Artair. There was a sense of contentment just being able to be so close to the crashing waves, the salty air, and the warm sand. Yet, it wouldn't compete with the act of high sailing. Some humans were a necessary evil to travel with, and his luck had brought him alongside the more favorable of the two legged creatures. The like minded, for as far as Artair could tell, sea going humans were not afraid of a wolf. Wary of his presence, but not afraid. The captain that had sailed from his island treated him well, but there were still those who's ignorant fears created problems. His travel had been safe, and above all else, pleasurable. It was that memory that caused a rift in his enjoyment. He couldn't stay, not yet, there were things to be done. Places to see, and others to meet. No doubt the lands of Fire and Ice would be a place to call home, but Artair's heart was not prepared to settle yet. Jackie, however, was something to consider. It had been a long time since he had found someone so alike, and it was questionable on the worthiness of giving up his drive to travel. His contemplative silence would surely not go unnoticed, and so he brought himself out of his crania. Emerald hues turning back to catch a glimpse of her form, the charming grin still kissing his maw. "I need not my nose, that rising moon be treasure enough." Time was short, but what little of it he had would be spent cheerfully.

In their pause, she followed his gaze to the full moon, rising along the horizon. The golden sand before them bleached into a silver sea, the true ocean beyond them diving to black. Diamond stars twinkled like winking eyes. Though it was nothing compared to being on deck of a ship at night, admist the gentle waves and beneath the expanse of the universe, it was soothing all the same. A smile spread on Jackie's lips, her seafoam eyes glowing like a pair of emeralds in the night. Artair was a clever one, she would give him that much. This was the treasure he had been looking for. It was romantic, yes, but... Jackie couldn't help but roll her eyes and swish her tail at his quarters.

"I had been hoping for something a little more... tangible," she said, one paw kicking the silver sand. It scattered around her like shiny glitter. "You know. Rare meat. Lost artifacts. Hidden stories. Wandering monsters. The sort of thing that really spurns adventure."

The granite hessian smirked at her lyrics, true to form. He was being cheeky, and deliberately so. There was a deep adventurer in him, but apart of him had gone through quite a bit already and he was seeking just a bit of fun. There was more to be had, that he knew already. It was a hard thing for most wolves, to walk in upon and land and immediately seek more. The Pearl had all the signs of a home he could certainly settle in, but his spirit was young and though his journey to FnI had been harrowing, it didn't end there just yet. Those...tangible things left him with all the more reason to leave. "I reckon there still is adventure to be found, even here amongst these small waves." His tone hadn't changed into the contemplative mood he was in, instead seeking to retain the playfulness. "Monsters, now there be many out there. Some of the most fearsome kind wander the lands, guarding the most precious of stones." Artair smirked and drew some absurd creature in the sand, it had the resemblance of a immensely built human. "Aye and gold, as shiny as that gift upon ya ear." Emerald hues turned to gaze upon the ring, and then to her. "Jackie, the winds call me. You got family 'ere, I cannot ask ye to follow, but know I will bring adventure back when I return." His tone was earnest, and he slipped that charming smirk in. "Tis easy to leave wolves unknown, but a kindred spirit , that be hard." A goodbye would mean he'd never return, and that wasn't going to come to pass. Just as swiftly as the change of tides, Artair bowed low and slipped away. A moments pause froze him as the waters edge lapped his mitts, and his emerald hues glanced back quickly before his form disappeared into the night.

His toe drew a monster in the sand; a two-legged thing that was much more familiar to her than he probably realized. But not all two-legs were monsters; some were kind, some were cruel, some didn't even care. They really were no different from wolves, when it came to personalities and lifestyles. Sure, they had their inventions that no wolf could understand, but they had adventures all the same. Artair spoke of her earrings and it flicked, the gold hoop jingling against the silver studs. He called it a gift... He didn't understand that it was a mark. A signal. A warning to all humans that she was of wolven blood, and not to be trifled with. It didn't hurt and she wasn't ashamed of it, but the earrings did have their own story to tell. She turned to him, feeling that she might share this story with him now, but she watched something pass in his eyes as the wind blew in their favor. He was leaving.

"I certainly hope you do, because I'll be counting on you for some treasure," she said with a wry grin. Before he bowed his head and slipped away into the night, though, Jackie leaned forward and kissed his muzzle. She then also turned away; it would give him something to think about on his journey, and anticipate when he returned. She trotted back the way they came on the silver sand. It would take her a couple of hours, considering how far they had come, but she would get there with time. It even surprised her at the fact that she was returning... If she didn't know herself any better, she would have joined him. What kind of adventure could he be having? What did the winds say when they called him? She didn't know, but she paused mid-step, seafoam gaze looking out at the open blackness of the ocean, the aquamarine waves washing around her mitts. Yes, there were many adventures out there... and then her gaze turned south to the head of the peninsula, where her brother and her niece and nephew and sister-in-law were waiting. It had been so long since she had been with any kind of family... and she knew that no matter what the adventure was, leaving now wouldn't be a good idea. Not because Jack missed her, but because it would be dangerous if she was to go out on her own... She was safe with the pack.

For now.

Amor still stood beside Yana, his maroon auds funneling the other’s ideas. He nodded as Yana spoke about Artair and Jackie. He knew the two seafarers had not been well acquainted with Liar before her death, and with that they could move on easier. He did not note Artair’s sudden absence; as quickly as he had arrived, he was gone before he could see.

He looked at the bru when he mentioned their common lack of expression. He had come to notice how most of the pack reacted to this, as compared to himself. “You could say that. Of course, I am shocked that it happened, but…Should I feel worse about this right now? ‘Makes me look like I don’t care.” The question was not weighted with emotion, but he regretted not feeling more attached. The souls of wolves were lost all the time, each one added to the unfortunate many. They must be given their necessary respects, but life craves to keep moving, even if at an easy-going pace, before it becomes death.

He listened to the other, almost as if Amor were questioning his... lack of expression. It was interesting how wolves could be expressionless for many reasons, although to most who didn't understand, they'd peg all of them as just not caring. For Amor, it clearly wasn't that simple. For Yana, though... it was closer to the truth, but not quite at the same time.

"I don't remember my friend's exact words, but he once told me that not all wolves react the same, whether out of necessity or not. Either way, as long as we try to understand and give the rest time, then it's fine. Not sure how true his words were, but sometimes I remember that. Even if the seafarers knew her better, they'd probably react the same. I've heard many deaths occur over the seas, and there's no place but the sea floor for them. I'd imagine it gets much easier being able to leave others behind in the depths... or perhaps from their point of view, the deceased are the ones who move on, and they're saddened only because they were left behind."

--Hoist the Colors High [MB] - Page 26 6914441643_45e87e23e2

Her footprints fell in the soft, silver sand falling snowflakes. No, wait a minute... It was snowing. Quiet and shy, it fell from the sky, slipping from the clouds hiding in the shadow of the moon. She headed up on the bank of the shore, the wind much colder than earlier that day, not wanting to freeze her paws. She shivered beneath her molasses coat; she was never one for the cold, always heading north or south, depending on whence it came. The balmy shore, the warm waves, the bright sunshine... That was her weather, but this was her brother's land. She wondered why he hadn't chosen a home farther south, where it would always be sunny and warm. That was what their homeland had been like, after all... A seafarer's paradise. She sighed, but did not slow her pace. She was beginning to wonder why she had ever left, but when she closed her eyes in nostalgia she saw Artair's playful smile, that she knew without having to speak with him at all. It was for the adventure that was out there, the kind that truly stole her heart away, like no male ever could. Yes, that was why she had left home... In search of something much more than a dream land.

Unfortunately, the pack was not in such spirits as she when she returned. Her smile faded... Calypso was nowhere to be seen, but at least Jack and his children were standing near the grave site she had decorated. Jackie quietly approached, not wanting to interrupt Jack and Atla's moment together. She simply wanted to admire them from afar. It was a tragic beauty, to see them bond over a deceased loved one, but it was these little things in life that taught everyone the most valuable lessons. Jackie's smile slowly returned at this. They would come around. Her brother, her Captain Jack Sparrow, deep down inside, was still the strong sailor she had always known.

Jack had been standing there some time and he finally made a sort of peace with the situation and he leaned down and nosed his children. "Go play, but don't go too far." Just then he noticed his sister standing not to far. He tilted his head and looked at her seriously before moving over to her. He touched her shoulder with his nose. "I'm sorry you have had to come at such a ...time. I am not normally so callous a leader especially when it comes to family." He smiled a little but it did not reach his eyes. He barely noticed the snow landing on his coat, he was already so numb what did it matter? Time would heal him he knew, but his heart felt ever so hollow in this moment. He could smell the scent of The Pearl on Jackie and knew he had been traveling around. And of course she had been to the beach, it was in her blood as it was in his. "Have you had a proper tour yet?" There was a male smell on her that he did not recognize but he would not ask her about it. Many came and went especially along the shore line. No one expected wolves to set up a pack so close to the balmy ocean. After all you could not get food from the ocean...unless you knew how. Something he and Jackie sure knew how to do without thinking. He felt the oceans call in his heart and for a moment all he longed for was to go stand on the sandy shore but he brought back his dream in sharp painful contrast and he winced away from that idea. Clearing his throat and glanced around not looking directly in her eyes. "Or perphaps you would like something to eat?" What he really needed was a distraction and perhaps his sister could give that to him. Calypso would watch the little ones while he caught up with his little sister.

"I've seen many captains fall quiet when a deckhand is lost," Jackie replied, nosing her brother's shoulder in return. "You are no different. Do not let that weigh you down." She saw that he smiled, but there was an emptiness to it. She smiled, too, in return, but she smiled from the warmness of her heart. She could feel her brother's pain, even if he did not say it. She wagged her tail at the thought of touring the lands, or getting a bite to eat. "Por que no los dos? Why not both? The only thing I had to eat was some fish in the stream when I first washed ashore. I explored some of the lands... It's not as large as the territory our family had, but it appears to be just as beautiful. Right next to the sea." She turned her head to look at the ocean, dark and vast in the moonlight, the breeze cold and salty to her nose. Regardless, she knew that it was warmer here near the shore than inland.

"C'mon, Captain," Jackie cajoled, slapping her tail at him with a grin. "Let's go. How old are Atla and Caspian now? It may be time you teach them how to hunt or fish." She looked over her shoulder at Atla, who was now running off to play or sleep, as children do. Most pups around this time of year were almost a year old. She turned back to her brother who, at the moment, looked very much like their father, Captain Teague. Tall, dark, handsome; they were of very similar dispositions. However, it was important to note that they were two very different wolves.

It surprised him how much his sister did soothe him, it was really the words just the presence. Familiar in a different way than his pack but just as comforting and strong. His ears flicked at her use of language and he felt the tickling of memories in his brain of those who spoke so from his childhood. He might had joked and thrown a few words of his own to banter but now it sunk through his mind like a sift. Licking his lips he nodded to her listening but not all there. "I will always come back to the ocean." His eyes moved to the ocean but its dark depths stirred too much emotion for him. Clearing his throat he looked away and began to walk into the thick of the trees. "Atla and Caspian are getting along...old enough to cause trouble." He could not hide the trace of affection in his voice. "Matter of fact I was thinking of improving their swimming skills, such a time would be a good exercise in fishing." For a moment he glanced sideways at her as they walked a devilish smirk played on mouth. "Remember when Dominic used to throw you in the tide pools." A chuckle rose in his throat though it came out a little flat.

All the while he was walking along leading them further and further away from the shore and more inland. He planed on showing her the caverns. A pretty collection of caves that sparkled with the ages of rock salt embedded in the stones. His tail swished companionably, his heart feeling a little warmer with his sister beside him.

A playful growl rose in her throat at the memory. "Yes, that jerk!" she replied, the fire to her words still as strong as the day it had happened. "I was picking urchins out of my coat for hours! But, I did get him back the next day by slipping that jellyfish into his meat and freaking him out." She grinned wickedly at the thought. Oho, if there was one thing a wolf knew about her, it was that she was never one to mess with. Revenge came far too easy to a woman like her. However, aside from Dominic throwing her in the tide pool, she did eventually learn the valuable skill of fishing from him... after many more dips in the pool, that was. She wondered if there were any tide pools along the beach... She hadn't seen any earlier, but maybe there were more north. She followed her brother's direction, his footing sure. He knew where they were going, and they were exploring a part of the lands she hadn't seen before. Good. Her heart was like the wind, always aching for some place knew to fly.

"So. Where are we headed, Captain?" she asked, noticing the bright beach slip away to a very lush, very green forest. It was more of a jungle than a forest, with lots of moss on the trees and big, leafy plants and ferns. She could still smell the sea, but perhaps that was because the salt was stained into their scents. It was difficult to tell what season it was in these parts, for the air seemed to always be warm and life always sprung about, her parched tongue told her it was dry, meaning that it was winter. Tropical climates, as the Pearl and much of the Caribbean that she had ventured, had very short winters of dryness and very long, wet summers. "How much of these lands have you explored? Or are there still places yet unknown?"

Her eyes shot open as she lifted her head from the sand. It seemed she had fallen into a deep sleep for a while. Ruffian looked around the area, her face still against the ground. What had happened since she was sleeping? How many days has it been since she was awake and active? The femme slowly lifted herself until she was sitting upward. Her gaze fell on the ocean that was quite far away from her location. She hadn't seen many wolves around since she arrived. Ruffian didn't know any of the wolves names, where they were, what ranks they was; nothing she knew. Her warrior-built body stood as she shook of all the sand particles from her gray pelt. Her long legs stretched out as she looked for any life forms. Not seeing any, she sniffed the ground for a sign of fresh water. The fem licked her chops as she had no sign of water. Her smell wasn't as good as it use to be.

Her maw formed a frown as she propelled her legs in a slow walk, looking around for any wolves that she had seen before, or had not ever seen in her life.

"How much longer, Mommy," questioned the small 9 month old brute, his blue orbs looking to a white femme, tilting his cranium. The mother of the pup looked to him and sighed in an exhale."Don't worry my daring, we are almost there." Mirror looked upon her son, Eiji, as his gray brown pelt made him stand out the most. They had come from the mating grounds. After one of her daughters ran away, it was terrible since she left. Mirror had fallen asleep beside Eiji one night, and the next morning her mate, Coyote, and two other pups was no where to be found. Her eyes were sore from where she had cried into her son's pelt; it was still a little wet from that. They set out that afternoon, wanting to get somewhere with protection by moonrise. She was thinking on going to Midnight Meadows, though she didn't think that it would be best if she went there.

Mirror had gotten to the territory quicker than she thought she would. Eiji had followed her, his head slightly lower. The femme mother lifted her head in a howl of acceptance. It was long and femme sounding. After her song was done, she turned to her son.

It didn't seem like long, but it had been, and as the salty air touched her face her mind flashed back to the midnight wolves and all they had done to her and her family. Her mother had died of natural causes, which was... hard, and she had left and traveled so far away to Jabbar with a wolf she had known and loved for a long time. Then came the climax of life with Echo and after that things had changed. Her heart had been broken by Damean, but not because he knew her feelings, but because they were young and his best friend was the crazy bitch who attacked her. She couldn't blame him, and she wouldn't... but she did blame Echo.

She wanted to leave, and so she had, but becoming of age was something special, was something different, and as her first season would approach so would the reality she couldn't run from her past forever. Damean she would leave, she had to, her mother and father... not so much. She had to face this history first and now would be the time. Similar blue eyes like her mother, darkened pelt like her mother with patched of grey from her father. She had his build, more stalky but had her mothers sleek face. The highlighting patches of fur made her look bulkier then she actually was, but she didn't complain. Eyes laid on a pair of wolves listening softly before what seemed the mother's words broke into a candance song of acceptance. She had no right to do this, but she didn't want to leave them alone, or she didn't want to be alone. She trotted over and smiled looking at them both, not quite as grown as the mother, but bigger then her pup. "Hello" she said softly stepping up and then sitting. "Finding a home too? Mind if I join you?" Her blue eyes flicked to both of them. "I'm Daija..." she smiled and her eyes finally landed on the pup. "You're going to love it here. I was here as a pup, the water seems to calm everything and there are plenty of wolves to play with, what are your names?" she said softly. Her auds twitched to and fro listening for anyone approaching them... how would her coming home effect Jack... Calypso... who had taken the part of parents to her own mother even if she wasn't by blood... she'd have to go see the... grave... "Follow me... we'll go more inland" She smiled and stood though her heart ached. "No need to sit, unless you want to" she turned away, her mind felt sick, her stomach felt sick.

How she knew where to go was beyond her. She passed wolves, she didn't notice. She heard words but didn't notice. Her eyes were trained on the mound of dirt in which laid her deceased mother inside. What she wouldn't give to snuggle up to her and ask her a story, hear her voice one more time... Liquid seeped from her eyes, tears? She could cry. Slowly as she sat down infront of the mound of dirt she let the salty tears of her body's ocean fall from her face. Her shoulders slumped forward and she took a shuddering breath. Oh mother, how I wish you wouldn't have gone, nothing would have changed and she wouldn't be in a heartache of pain between death and lost love. She slumped farther until she lay on fallen dirt. Death. It was natural, atleast she wasn't killed by something or someone.

Jack trotted along his mind plunging into thoughts of the past. Faces flashed through his mind, old grizzled faces, young energetic and the smell of the sea was always present. The water was clearer there, the seasons far more mild than it was here. But that was a lifetime ago, he did not regret leaving. The call had always been in his heart and he had answered it as soon as he could. Jackie was ever present in his memories, his faithful little sidekick tagging along but also getting into trouble. His mind came back from the past but a trace of a smile still held onto his mug. "I'll show you the caverns, they're beautiful and also a good landmark to know." He angled them towards the north keeping a brisk pace. He playfully scoffed at her question and glanced at her with an eyebrow raised. "This has been my home since I left and you think I don't know every inch. I know it just as well as I know home." Another memory flashed in his mind.

Jackie stomping her paws behind him pouting and exclaiming how she wanted to go back to the dens. "Jack!" Her small pup voice ringing in his head. "Just a little farther Jackie, then we can go home." His pads leading him onward into the deepest parts of their territory. He stopped waiting for her to catch up. "Here we are..." As they rounded the corner they came to a dead end outlet of where their main freshwater stream. At the end as if building a little damn to no where was an enormous pile of seashells. It was an amazing variety of colors and shapes. He remembered her features so open in her expression of awe and wonder. Her face lighting up and a warm feeling spread through his chest, proud to share something with his little sister. "This is our secret okay? No one else knows where this is and sometimes there is even fish who wash up here." She had nodded solemnly then sure to protect the secret like he would protect her...

The memory flew away when a howl filtered through the trees. He stopped listening and slanted an apologetic smile at Jackie. "Guess the tour will have to wait. Let's see whos calling eh?" With that he rerouted them to where the howl came from. When they arrived he didn't see one and even ventured a tentative 'Hello' into the area but no one answered. Putting his nose to the ground he detected several unfamiliar scents and one that was familiar...he felt a stirring in his chest and his posture became more alert. Looking at Jackie he frowned. "It seems they've gone deeper into the terra. And there are three of them." He kept his discovery to himself thinking that it was an old scent of maybe just a fluke. Following the unfamiliar scents back he let out several low calls indicating he was on the trail and calling them to his authority..

"Home..." she said aloud, the word feeling foreign on her lips. It had been so long since she had had a real place to call "home". She followed her brother's brisk pace, keeping at his flank, some part of her body still used to traveling with him over long distances. She allowed the feeling to flow through her like waves, remembering the times when they would go adventuring for hours in their homelands, exploring every single inch of the island they had grown up on until they knew it like the back of their paws. She wondered if he would ever want to return, see their mother and father, discover their secret treasure all over again...

Yet, before they got very far, a howl came down to them. Jackie paused in her tracks and sighed. "I'm just not allowed to spend time with my big ol' bro, am I?" she smirked, seafoam eyes playful, but followed the Captain's lead towards the newcomers. He seemed concerned about something, but she didn't know what. She guessed she would find out when the time came. "Is it unusual that there's three of them?" she asked, curious. As far as she knew, she was still the most recent addition to the pack, and she didn't know how often new members came about... A fear flickered in the back of her mind... A fear of others discovering her, hunting her down, pillaging the lands that she walked on, these lands of gold and silver and so much treasure... A pirate's life was not easy to leave behind.

OOC: Here ya go, Silent. Because the watermark on the sparrow was bothering me. I couldn't decide which one looked better, so you get to decide between the two. Oh! And fun fact: My girlfriend has this very image tattooed on her shoulder, colored too (differently, couldn't match it 100% or anything). Hope you like!

Daija was just laying there, the tears had seemed to dry up now. Tears. What a waste. She sighed and sat up hearing the barks of what she knew was her grandfather, if anything, fake blood was thicker then water with that as well. She stood up and turned away facing the direction that Jack would be coming. She began to pad forward and stopped seeing her reflection in the puddle, who did she look like more because her father she had never met so she wouldn't know. She thought she looked like her mother more or less... or at least she hoped, because no one wanted to resemble the parent that made it a point to not be around. She sighed and with a shake of her head continued forward towards Jack. She had grown quite a bit, and learned a lot more then normal having been apart of Jabbar for some time. When his shadow could be made out from the trees she stopped, clearing her throat just a bit and went to wait, but she couldn't. Something overwhelmed her and she pushed through the brush till she was right upon him, without so much as flinching she threw herself into his neck, sitting and curling up into his pelt whimpering as more tears slid down her face. She felt safe here, with this male, her only one considered family almost, and she let the tears fall, sucking in sharp breaths that made her chest hurt...

she was home and couldn't cry out of sadness, but happiness.

Calypso watched her mate and his sibling move off. It was so good having Jackie here. Not only for the pups but for Jack's sake. A soft sigh left her maw and she turned her gaze to look at their pack. Small it was now but growing with the additions of her children and the new voices ringing the air. Though that reminder also brought to her pain and made her ears flick back at the thought of strangers and her missing grandchild.

Red's voice snapped her out of her thought and she looked to her old friend gratefully. "Thank you Red.' she smiled at him. I think I would like to freshen up a bit...I feel...ragged.' she admitted in confidence to the wolf who had been family for what seemed forever now. 'Would you keep a close eye on the pups. I wont be but a moment.' she added still leary of leaving her young but knowing that Red would lay his life for them.

Standing she looked back at her pups. Caspian had pooped out in puppy fashion but was blinking his blue eyes open in his masked face. The emotional whiplash was wearing on the young.

"Momma?" his voice rang softly.

"I am just going for a quick drink my loves." She murred softly and nuzzled her two growing whelps. 'Red will keep an eye while I'm gone." she looked gratefully at Red and paused to nose his shoulder in thanks before she trotted to the freshwater pool where she could drink and freshen herself. She needed to be strong for Jack.

Caspian looked at Red and wagged his puppy tail pushing himself to his paws. "Can we do something fun?" He almost whined excitedly as he untangled from his sister.

He nodded as Calypso responded. "Of course," he said. No harm would come to them, and he hoped that she didn't rush more than necessary. Jack was fine, and... it seemed like the rest of the pack was as well. Yana was keeping an eye out, so was sure the British Columbian would notice anyone who approached. A few words were exchanged to the pups before the alphess departed, leaving her young to his care. Almost immediately, Caspian's demeanor seemed to change, something closer to how Red remembered himself.

"Something fun? How about..." He grinned as the old Spitfire in him perked up. The old name and personality that had been retired was interested. What did he do at a younger age that wouldn't be too dangerous... Dropping his voice a bit, he said in a mock 'bad guy' tone, "I'm a spy who entered the powerful kingdom ruled by you and Alta, gathering information on how strong your pack is. But I've been caught, and now I'm trying to flee." He pranced a little, to emphasize starting to back away, if Caspian was interested. What pups their age didn't like chasing their older packmates?

The maned wolf normally made more elaborate plots with his other siblings and family, but he'd save that for when simple plots like this started to bore. For now, if Caspian was interested, he'd lead them on a short chase within the area before allowing them to pounce on him and continue to 'attack' him, which Red inevitably enjoyed the most being the chaser. It was still fun as the one being chased, though. He remembered excitedly telling his own parents about how he'd 'saved' the pack from evil pupnappers, spies, and other things. Then again, his parents hadn't approved of the game, but other parents were more receptive and had even smiled a bit. Thinking back, it was probably because the games kept him occupied from planning his next joke. He had been a handful, and was normally the end of the jokes about taking a whole pack to raise one pup.

Jack graced his sister with a weary smile. "In due time, running a pack is not exactly the most leisurely affair." He continued onward on the trail of the intruders, his ear flicked back listening to Jackie's comment. "No, it's not strange it's just that I could swear that-" And before he could get the words a she wolf came barreling out from the brush and he might have reacted negatively but the instant the scent slid into his nares he knew that he could never and would never be able to harm the she wolf who pressed herself flush against him. The sharp tang of her emotions roiling through the air. The air left Jack and all he could do was grapple for words before finally a chocked laugh came out. "Daija!" He exclaimed nosing her face, whining eagerly and licking her muzzle. Relief swept through him finding his granddaughter alive and well. Then in a way that was his right he stepped back and gave him a nip on the nose not unkindly. "And where did you run off to?! We were worried sick!" And despite the words they were colored with happiness that was bubbling to the surface evidenced by his wagging tail.

Glancing back at Jackie he beamed a truly happy smile. "Jackie this is Daija, my grandpup." He eyed her daring her to make an age joke before looking to the young she wolf. Lifting his heart he called out to Calypso, his excitement leaking through the howl. He also called for those other wolves to come before him.

Suddenly a young female exploded from the brush and Jackie's tail went up in alarm, ready to lunge in response, when she saw her submissive pose, licking and whimpering her older brother's muzzle. She relaxed, now intrigued at this dark-hued woman, who looked... astoundingly similar, actually, to Jack, as well as herself. Her brow furrowed, trying to figure it out, when Jack turned to her with an introduction. Jackie grinned and tipped her dial in response. "Ahoy, matey," she said, and then trotted near them, delivering a firm shove to her brother. "Do you know how old I feel right now? This is your grandchild!" she barked. She rolled her seafoam eyes, landing on Daija. "Neptune, my brother's an old fish! Don't think I'm anything like him, okay?" A playful smile slid across her dark lips. She was younger, much younger, actually, than Jack. At least about three years, but they had grown up together. She hoped that Daija would see this, and that she would be able to talk to her about... well, anything, really. From the way Jack responded to her return, she had gone missing without saying anything, and Jackie was curious as to know why. Of course, she wasn't going to ask outright. Adventure was in her blood, so it only came naturally for her to wonder such things.

Caspian heard the tone in Red's voice and his blue eyes seemed to brighten greatly. Oooooooh this sounded like fun! The excitement grew so thick in Caspian that his little body trembled and then he bounced in place. Red's antics and his challange to catch him because he was a 'spy' made Caspian laugh and bound after him.

"Oh no you won't!" He barked loudly, loud enough to stir Atla into the mix for sure. "I am the king here and you will not take information back to your queen!" He laughed. "These are my lands you ....you..." He blinked and stopped in his charge. "What's a good word for a bad guy Red?" Haunches hit the ground and he blinked waiting for his pack and playmate to answer his curiosity. He wanted to use the right word and all...he was 'king' remember?

His little tail still wagged excitedly and his body trembled waiting for the word so the game could commence.

Red watched Caspian's reaction, and was highly pleased the younger was catching on. He smiled at Caspian's attempt to sound formal, and filled in the missing word for him, "Scoundrel or villain are both good words," There were more synonyms, of course, but scoundrel was the favorite word when he was a pup. If that was too difficult to say, Caspian could settle for 'villain'.

In his mock voice, he said, "I will return to my queen. I may have been seen, but I will not be foiled by you, King Caspian!" He paused just long enough to see if Caspian would have a response before darting off. He'd glance back every so often to make sure he was wasn't too fast, but quick enough to remain just ahead of the pups. His anticipated route would weave between the few trees and keeping them within the area. Caspian and Alta probably wouldn't notice, intent on the chase. His plan was to keep them running for a bit, but gradually start to slow down before they got bored. He wondered if they would get any smart ideas to stop him before then, though. He noticed Yana was staring, their excitement probably catching his eye, before the wolf returned to keeping an eye out.
