It was hot. To hot.
Congen glanced to the left and to the right, only seeing a barren wasteland stretching out to all sides .
"Why would anyone voluntarily live here?" he thought to himself.
behind him was the cool forest, and many miles back where the mountians. There it was cool, there he was in
his ellement. He started walking. Just... straight ahead, as there was no point of orientation in this lands.
The Lone Lands. That's how that weakling called them, before Congen had broken his jaw. For him it was just a stupid desert.

With every step, the journey through these wastes, became heavier and heavier. His majestic fur, long and thick, perfect to insulate him
in the cold north he came from, was here more of a hindrance, as it din't helped much in these hot climate. Sweat and dirt started clogging
the underside of his pelt, making the majestic white a filthy brown.

Water, he needed water. And he needed it now. He had been walking for hours and now, with the sun at his highest, he was getting
dangerously close to dehydration. He was more stumbling than walking and then he fell. He lied on the ground for some time, heavily panting,
trying to cool off desperatly . A few minutes later the first buzzards started circling over him.

"No...no,NO!" he refused to give up, he refused to die in this bloody desert, herefused to only serve as food for scavengers. With suddenly adrenaline
running trhough his entire body , he startedwalking, no , he started running. He would find water, or die in the attempt.

But it wouldn't be enough. A several hundred yards further , he collapsed. And this time he couldn't get up.
He knew he was going to die. He would now use his last resort, something he didn't did since the day he was born.
He howled for help.

Her stride was easy as she made her way against this barren land. She had been all over these lands roaming and seeking. She was taking a break from Auntie Havoc and all the wolves that had gathered there. Fighting had broke out amongst the ranks and she didn't like so many strangers in their midst. So she told Havoc she would be back and struck out for a while.

Her dark pelt glistened in the sun as she stopped midstride and turned ears perked. A howl had sounded and it was close. A call for help. Curious. She thought and flicked her tail. She was on her way to the oasis. When you lived these lands you had to know where water was or you were fast to meet your maker. Eyes found buzzards, foul beasts of this land circling above. Something was dying and by the sounds of it a wolf. She flicked her ebony tail again. She may have come from a dark pack but she wasn't heartless. Her footfalls began again and she headed into the direction

Silent they came her shadow hiding underneath her as if the sun was something to be feared, then her keen eyes found a dirty brown shape lying upon the sand. Soon she would be close enough to see the figure was a brute. Ears forward she slowed her footfalls and stared silent for a moment to see if the creature still lived. She caught his breathing and came forward a couple more steps.

"I heard your call stranger." she said. "Can you walk? The oasis is not far." She said in a calm melodic voice.

Congen turned his head, or at least he tried, when he heard the sound of footsteps through the sand.
He saw someone aproaching, but the searing sun blocked his view. It was a femme, he could hear that from her voice. He couldn't understand everything she said he picked up fragments, and he knew he was getting desperatly close to a serious sunburn. She had asked if he could walk. Did it look like he could?
None the less, he forced his legs to rise him up, and they obeyed. But the challenge was far from over,
as he made a step, he almost stumbled and fell again. Only sheer will holded him upright.

He would prevail, as he always did. He made another step closer to the femme, ignoring the pain and weakness in his legs. He took a look at her, she appeared to have a darker pelt, but the sun was still blocking most of his sight, and he couldn't descern more details.

"Could ... You ... He...lp ... me..." He mutterd with a thick dry tongue, and a soar throat. Help. such a simple word, and still he almost never used it in his live. His pelt was completly covered under cloggy
dirt, he knew he wouldn't make much of an impression now, and his live depended from the choice of an
uknown wolfess.

Help. Such a strange word....

He was alive...barely by the looks of it. He never answered her verbally but he forced himself to stand. He was weak and when he almost stumbled and fell again Minx danced her lithe form to his side and pressed up closely so he could lean against her shoulder and she would take some of his weight. "I am helping you." She said and leaned into him more to help guide him. "Water is near. You were almost there." She said encouragingly. If grandfather were here he would have scoffed at her for aiding someone who seemed as week as this brute, her twin on the other hand would have chided her for not helping him.

Ahh her twin, she felt that all too familiar tug in her chest that let her know her sister was there somewhere...alive. Regret filled her at the thought of Jinx and the past choices that were made. She gave a soft sigh and thrust the thought deep into the dark recesses of her mind, she had more important things to worry about at hand.

"Easy now...we will go slow..." She said and took a step forward hoping the brute would follow. She meant to aid his footsteps that were so weak. Any longer and there would have been no helping him, the desert would have claimed another whom flaunted her harshness. How could one be so reckless as to run the sands and not know where they were going? She flicked her tail. Of course she had been new to these sands once as well...once upon a time...others weren't so keen on sharing secrets to those who would take what little resources there were.

Congen froze at her swift movement, for a moment, he thought she attacked him. When it looked like she only meant to help him, he quickly (and although he wouldn't never confess, gladly) accepted her aid. Then he started with walking. Slowly but steadily he walked into the direction she pointed out.
Even during the walk he tried to go forward, as much as possible, without her help, his constant distrust
being one of the few things keeping him by consciousness.

Why did she helped him? He keeped thinking at that. He had walked into uknown terrain, even without knewing where to go. He even didn't had overthought the fact he could have died. And he would have, if this unknown femme didn't had helped him.

Speaking of her, he even didn't had time to look at her properly. She appaered to be a smaller femme, with a brown pelt and black paws and mask. she had something mysterious arounf her, something he couldn't descibe...
He, however, perfectly knew how he must look by now: a brown, dirty mass of wolf, not a hint of his majestic white fur see-able.

When he looked back up, he could discern the reflection of water not far in front off them. They where nearly there....

She was glad he was taking her aid though she still felt him trying to walk upon his own. Perhaps he wasn't as injured as she first thought. "Almost there..." She said reassuring him again as the mirrored surface of the water came like a mirage in the heat. She wondered what had caused his hardship in the sands. Ah well these things would be answered in time...she thought silently to herself as she continued to lend herself to his side for support.

The water shaded by some scrub trees and and bushes looked serene and heavenly to those who lived these lands. The bigger oasis's were often sought and fought over in these lands, for they meant life. But there were ones such as this one that were small pieces of heaven in the desert that belonged to all who traveled these harsh sands. She pulled up to the small pool and drank in it's scent for a moment. "There you go. Drink...but not too fast..you don't want your belly to reject it after it being so long without." She said and tipped her delicate ebony muzzle and took a few laps with her pink tongue before flicking her ears forward and took in the surroundings.

It was shady and nice and she was sure they weren't the only ones taking advantage from the scorching heat. Snakes might be hidden at the base of some of the scrub or in a tumble of rocks nearby...scorpions burrowed under small stones.. lizards..insects...but what her keen eyes were looking for was hare. The mud colored bru, dirty and worn, would need a meal. He surely couldn't hunt for himself. Her black nose twitched and she flicked her dark hued tail. "Drink and then sit in the shade and rest traveler. I will be back." She said and then slunk off like a shadow into the dappled shade to hunt. Not the easiest time of day but if one knew where to look prey could be found.

As the femme left, Congen reached out for the promising water. His dry tongue touched the water and brought in the first load of the cool water. With every gulp, he felt more and more revigorated, and his strenght came back. Then he remembered what the femme had said, and stopped drinking. He didn't wanted to look like a complete idiot by negating her warning. Then it was time for a bath.

He drowned himself in the cool and refreshing water, and when he came back above, majestic white
had replaced dirty brown. He looked whole again. He came out of the water, and shook of the water.
Then he streched himself, and sat down near the pool.

The femme had dissappeared, probably on a hunt, maybe for him, maybe for herself. He waited for her, asking himself who she could be and more important, why she helped him. He would never have helped someone who had brought himself in a situation like this, he would have merely walked past. She didn't.
She had spent time and effort into saving him.

So he waited, meanwhile pondering why she had helped him. He would ask her.
If she came back, that is.

Bloody desert. [Open] Minx10

Silent footfalls fell as she scoured the sands and scrub for any hint of a meal. With water this close life should be abundant. It wasn't long before her molten yellow eyes found what she searched for. A large hare held motionless underneath a patch of scrub. She flicked an ear but gave no notice that she saw it and walked on past at a non chalant pace. The hare's nose twitched and it's body tensed and it waited. Life in the desert was no peaceful life...at least not for his kind. Snakelike she turned on a dime and the hare bolted. She spread her toes to gain traction in the sand and ran with speed after the hare. The hare turned at a ninety degree angle, its ears wide and red as it's body tried keep itself from overheating in the sun. The chase couldn't last long...not in the heat. Minx had to end this quickly. Closer....closer...closer...she leapt and let her ivories snap.

Minx walked through the scrub and scared up another hare...a small covey of quail...a rattlesnake shook it's tail, she paid them no mind as she made her way back to the pool. Dark thorns flicked forward she let her nose twitch scenting for the wolf she had left there. In her mouth, a prize. The large hair back broken and lifeless in her jaws. Her golden eyes found the figure, only instead of a dirty brown he was a pristine white. She flicked her tail ...curious..was the thought that echoed through her head.

Padding closer and less quietly as to not startle the brute she came and let the hare drop from her jaws and let her tongue slip from his hiding place to clean the bit of blood that tainted them. "Feeling better?" She asked and blinked her eyes at him then before he could even answer she said. "Eat that... you need it to rebuild your strength." She glanced at him a moment and then took a few steps to the pool and lapped at the clear water to replenish the fluid she lost.

When she was through she sat down on dark haunches and watched him waiting to see if he would eat her kill.

With his eyes staring at her intensivly, he stood up, and slowly walked to the dead hare. Calm, like he had all the time off the world, he reached out for the hare and started making his way through the soft belly of the dead animal. The frsh meat tasted good, and his already returning strenght became further fortified. Soon, he would be back at full condition, rezady to take on everything the future would throw at him.

The hare had been killed with deadly percision, his back broken, and Congen now knew she was an good, if not excellent huntress. Then he continued with his meal, gnawed the bones clean, and washed his now bloodied jaws, in the pool.

Then he turned towards his saviour. Now came the irritating part. He would have to thank her for rescueing him. Better get over with this quick. He was still intrigued by the fact she helped him, eh would never do such a thing...

"Thanks for saving me..." He said with a low voice. "I am Congen." He continued, now a bit louder.
Then he asked "Who are you, and why did you helped me?".

She watched him get up and approach the hare and was satisfied. She then turned and walked out her front legs and lowered her rump, settling down in the shade next to the pool. She then scooted a step to where she could easily dangle her front paws cooling them in the life giving liquid. She gave a content sigh and then glanced over at the brute again. He ate slowly, deliberately...curious for someone who had been in such dire need. She flicked an ear and began to wash one of her front legs which had some droplets of the hare's blood upon them.

She heard his footsteps move in her direction and she rose her bodice off the sand and looked at him with golden eyes. "You are welcome Congen. My name is Minx." She offered and then let her ear swivel slightly at his question. Why? She didn't think someone would question why their life was saved. She flicked her chocolate tail. "Why not?" she asked. "You cried for help I answered the call." She sat back down upon muscled haunches. Plus her sister would have been upset if she hadn't and truely as dark a pack as they had come from they weren't completely heartless....well at least Minx and her sister, Jinx, were not. But she was not going to tell him that. "Perhaps it is just because if I was in need I would want someone to come to my aid." She shrugged and studied him. "Now can I ask you...how you got into such dire straits?"

Congen almost had bitten his tongue when she asked how he got turned up lying dieing in this desert.
"Well...You see...I was a bit reckless and overconfident...So i had figured out I could simply cross the desert, it didn't came up my mind I could die" He somehow sensed lying to her had no point. She looked like a type that wouldn't be fooled by false words. He was wondering about himself too, why was he telling her so much, he just knew her, and everything he said could be used against him. Time for a differnet aproach.

"Combine this with my very thick fur, and you get a dehydrated, starving wolf" He said it nonchalant, like they where talking about some other wolf that had been stupid enough to blindlessly cross an unknown desert. "Now I have answered you , so that makes me asking you again. Where do you come from? And are there more wolves over there?" He said, while old plans sprung back to life in his mind.

She nodded. "You were one of the lucky ones then." She said to his response of her questions. "If you stay in these lands for very long that thick coat of yours will be falling off in clumps to help keep you cool." She chuckled. So bold a bru just to think he could tame the desert by simply setting foot in it. His questions came forth again and she flicked an ear as if an insect had landed on it and she was flicking it off again. Fair was fair and this male, this Congen, made her curious so she deigned in answering his questions.

"I hail from no pack now. A loner you might say." She said. It wasn't completely true but for all purposes right now it was. Her aunt Havoc she had left for a while with her minions to sort out ranks and whatnot. Minx herself got tired of the bickering of the unsocial wolven and told Havoc she would return...eventually...her history before that....well...that was her own business as well for now. She felt the familiar tugging in her heart that told her that Jinx still lived and felt comforted by it's presence even though they were leauges apart probably. "But there are packs about..." She added knowing these lands where she was born, these lands of fire and ice. "Two with dark hearts, two neutral, and two pure packs...." She mused aloud. "Are you looking for a new home Congen?" she asked blinking gold eyes glowing like the hot yellow orb that beat down upon them.

Fur.Fall off. It was the first he thought when she had answered his questions. Ohw for Bhaal's sake, recalling the name of his older brother, why his fur? When he had left the norths , he had knewn he would have to change a bit, but his fur... He sighed, fate was never with him. Not that he needed something like luck.

Whatever the world had thrown at him, so far he had survived. For now. Then he realised he would need her help to survive. And the worst was he would have to admit he was helplessly in this deadly enviroment.

"Well, I am thrown out of my old pack, so I probably couldn't go back to there. I am a foreigner to this land, and it almost killed me on my first day. That makes searching a new place to live or stay the only option". A pause. "So, I think I will need to call in your help to survive this... place... and get somewhere
safe. So I ask you... could you help me?" He looked into her golden eyes, and waited for her reply.

Minx watched as he seemed to take in her words and give a sigh. She nodded when his lips parted and he spoke of being banned from his former pack and then surprisingly asking for her help. She stayed silent and pondered it a bit. She really had nothing else better to do now and she might learn something from this snowy pelted brute. She nodded her head once. Jinx would have wanted her to help him and really Minx couldn't find a reason in her heart nor her head not too.

"Very well Congen..." she said. "I will help you but you need to tell me one thing first." She said and flicked her tail. "Where is it you want to go?" she asked blinking yellow eyes. Though she probably should have asked how black his heart was for that would be telling of what land he would find more suitable. She glanced up overhead. The buzzards that had been circling the white wolf now had dissapated. Promise of a meal was gone for them. The thought of meal was a reminder to her belly she had yet to eat.

She nodded again. "Come." She said turning. "If you have the strength you can watch me hunt. I talk better on a full stomach." She said. "Perhaps you may learn something." She said. "And perhaps you will be able to tell me where your heart lies." Her pelt, chocolate from the sun's harsh rays bleaching her black coat, bounced lightly as she moved on the sand, her toes spread slightly as to distribute the weight better.

Learn something from her? He could learn her something! That he was almost back in condition. And that he could hunt good enough for himself. It was also cooling down by the night, so he wasn't hindered by the sundering heat any longer.

A small breeze touched the land, and he could smell a hare, somewhere in front of them. He started to walk left of her. When she would chase it, he would try to intercept the hare, as it couldn't be looking out to a second wolf, when it was already running for his life. He would show her... Meanwhile he was pondering at her other question.

Where did his heart lies? Well, it wouldn't be Pure,or Neutral, so when looking towards his former actions and how he had behaved, he considered himself a Dark(er) one. "Well, some way you could suppose my heart lies at the darker side. Where does your heart lies? Just asking."

Minx watched Congen as he moved to her left. Her nose twitched with the cool evening breeze. She too smelled the hare. It's very scent made her stomach twist in hunger. She almost snapped her jaws in anticipation. She slowed her trot and walked. The hare was in a thick of brambles somewhere ahead. "So your heart lies in darker nature..." she said searching the scrub for the hare and wondered if that darker meant he had a black heart or if it merely was a darker shade of grey? "Then there is Muerta Mountains...the darkest of the dark lie there...or Jabbar, but the wind has told me that it is in chaos right now for rumors are that the king and queen are dead." She flicked her tail eyes spying the hare finally and she made to go to the right, casually.

"Then there are those packs where those who don't feel strongly one way or the other. The Black Pearl lies along the sea and then there is Midnight Meadows." She said and before getting to where her heart lay, turned once again on a dime toward the hare and it sprung to life from the scrub zipping this way and that trying to cheat death. Of course...it hadn't expected a second wolf.

As Mynx started to chase the hare
(Ooc: she did, didn't she? I couldn't make it out completly, so, sorry if I am wrong)
Congen started running towards the left, staying behind Mynx's eyeline, to keep the supprise effect,
as he had predicted, the hare had circled towards the left, unaware of the danger the other wolf posed.
Congen tried to estimate how the hare would run further, and took the gamble.

He went towards some small plants close to the route he thought the hare would choose, and tried to get as low as possible. He had thought right, as the hare was almost coming straight at him, hoping to search refuge amongst the plants against his chaser. Mynx, to her credit, was getting closer however, and Congen hoped the hare could hold out those few mettres longer. As he saw the hare closing in, he braced, and then jumped out towards the hare, maw open wide. (Ooc: I don't know... but I have the strange feeling I did a bit off powerplaying in the above...? If there is something wrong just pm)

Minx indeed was giving chase and her eyes on the prize getting closer and closer when Congen popped out of the scrub and had launched himself at the hare jaws open wide. Impressive....she thought to herself as she slowed her gait and waited to hear if the rabbit would cry out in death when Congen closed his jaws about it's body. Her heart thudded in her chest and she licked her jaws. It was his kill now however, he probably wouldn't share because of the lack of meals he had prior to meeting her.

Golden eyes watched and waited, her tail flicked once, twice. "Nicely done." She would say after Congen ended the hare's life. It was a lot harder to hunt on ones own in these lands, though food was a lot scarcer as well...unless you knew where to look. Minx licked her jaws and shook out her pelt.

Bloody desert. [Open] Mine

Congen had catched the hare at it's neck. Now he was pressing it down at the ground, slowly stangling it with his immense force. He had always liked it if others died a painly and slow dead, and this time,
it was no exception. No escape for you little one he thought . He pressed harder, and with a muffled sound, the hare died.

Now he loosened his grip on the dead animal, and turned his head upwards, to see Mynx standing some mettres away. She probably was hungry, as she had hunted for him earlier, and hadn't eaten in the meanwhile. He suposed he could give it to her, he had only catched the hare to show her he wasn't completly helpless. He walked up to her, and laid the dead hare at her paws.

"And what did I learn?" he said to her, a smile starting to form at his lips.

Bloody desert. [Open] Minx10

Minx watched as Congen pinned the hare to the ground and slowly took it's life. She flicked an ear. This one enjoyed killing. She could tell that right now. She turned her head and looked away for a moment toward the setting sun and then would looked bck to Congen as he approached and dropped the hare at her paws then smugly (or at least it seemed to her it was smug) What did he learn?

A smile played her lips when he asked and she flicked her tail and let her yellow eyes drop down to the hare and back up to him again. "You just learned it's easier to hunt with others in this land." She said almost a touch of haughtiness to her tone. "And you also learned that when a kill is made it is shared. No matter how small. Every mouthful is precious." She said and bent and lifted the hare in her jaws and then flicked her jaw causing the hare to sway slighty and toward him. She wanted him to grab the dangling end and then pull to seperate the meal into half.

He gladly accepted her offer, and teared of the other half. After that he smacked it on the ground, and started gnawing towards ( where he thought they would lie) the kidneys of the hare. His favourite.
While he was eating, he glanced at Mynx. Where would her heart lie? He geussed somwhere near Neutral, as she had helped him, but she had a mysterious thing around her, which made him to think she wouldn't be a Pure.

He paused his meal for some seconds, looking into the night-sky. He wondered what Bhaal was doing now. Considering he still lived. But Bhaal would probably be still alive, it would take more than some random desert to kill his older brother.

He finished his meal by breaking the bones, and sucking out the marrow. Then he looked back to Mynx.
"So where does your heart lies? You still didn't answered that." He asked.

Bloody desert. [Open] Minx10

Minx felt the hare tear and the sweet smell of crimson filled her nose. She walked away a few paces and lie down with her prize. Starting first with the soft entrails that were so nicely exposed now. She then worked at the carcass and devoured it, bones and all. Rabbit bones weren't that hard and if you were careful and chewed them thouroughly, which took more time but was worth the nutirents. She left little put a few tufts of rabbit hide upon the sand and she licked her paws and jaws.

His voice came again and then she blinked golden eyes at Congen. "I suppose my heart lies in a dark area of grey." She said honestly and flicked her tail. She was more dark than she was light. Her sister on the other hand more light than dark. Of course her sister hadn't been heir to the dark throne her grandfather held. She shoved the thoughts away. She had stopped thinking of grandfather long ago, she shook her head slightly and looked at Congen.

"So did you think of where you might like to head to?" she asked.

Congen scratched his back. Where would he go? The mountians? That could fit perfectly... Mountians meant a cold climate, one where he was more suited to. Where could she be from? Was she maybe a loner? And why was she here? All questions that would have to be answered. But not all now, some people didn't like to talk about their past... He was one of them.

"Where to go? Maybe the mountians, I don't know yet...Where do you come from? And don't tell me you live in...this... place." He yawned. He was becoming a bit drowsy. "Just asking, have you seen or heard of a large male by the name of Bhaal?" He dared to hope somebody had seen him or talked about him.
"He is bigger than your average-sized wolf, and probably stronger. I am looking for him for a long time."

Then he regretted asking her of his brother. Knewing Bhaal ,it could be perfectly able that he killed one off her known and loved. Without restraints, Bhaal was one crazy killer. Congen's father had been wise to chase Bhaal off while he still could, later on it could be perfectly possible that Bhaal had upsurped the leadership.

The mountains perhaps? Dark heart indeed he would need for joining Akira's band. Her ebony thorn flicked an ear and she looked at him with gold eyes and gave a soft sigh. "Where do I come from?" she repeated and laughed lightly. "I come from a pack that resides outside the lands of fire and ice. A dark pack." She said. "But to tell you the truth...not that you seem you want to believe it....this...these lands are my home. I am a loner." she said flicking her tassel.

Then his next question came of a wolf called Bhaal. She shook her head. "No. I have never heard of a wolf by that calling. What does he look like?" she asked knowing he said that he was larger than the average wolf, but pelt color? Eye color? Any characteristics that might make him stand out other than his size? "Looking for him for a long time eh?" she said and groomed her paw once, twice more, as her belly curled anxiously around the food that filled it. "Is he family of yours? Or are you seeking revenge? "She asked openly. Revenge...such a good motivater.
