Curse's eyes ticked to the side when the brute moved and Despair turned his whole body to watch the brute. It was not until the bru was standing closer that Curse rose to his feet in a defensive but casual position. He was exuding easy goingness but there was a savage edge to him. Something about his smile...it curved up just a little too high and his eyes were ever so sly looking. He grinned easily when he was addressed shrugging his shoulders. "It's no kin of mine, more of like an afternoon snack. Crossing the desert is hungry work you know." His grin grew wicked and one might not know whether he was serious or kidding. Sorrow had stopped in her grooming to watch the advance of the male and she was already uncomfortable as is but now the brute had moved closer and was inquiring about the pup. Her lips pulled back slightly, her canines threatening to spill out.

Mort saw the responses off all of his three "companions", but continued on an easy tone. "I was on my way to..." He paused a short moment, overthinking his words. "...Lacrimosa, when I was caught in this storm that made us cross our paths." Darting his head low slowly, he glanced under Sorrow's belly, and gave the pup a friendly smile. "she's a lovely one though, far to pretty to be eaten." At the end of that sentence he turned and gave Despair a wink. After that he settled himself back in his part of the shelter.

Navi flicked her ears forward and then she would blink her eyes staring at the new bru as he pulled closer. She watched him curiously as he spoke. Lacrimosa was where he was from....she wondered where that was. Her ears flicked back and she looked at Sorrow when he said she was far too pretty to be eaten. She wasn't sure if he was joking or being serious so she looked about at the other's faces to see their reactions to his words.

She never thought she was very pretty...perhaps if she had been Damean would have wanted to play with her instead of Echo...she wrinkled her nose and gave a soft sigh.

And so the storm led him here. Julien walked with his head down, ears pinned, eyes mere slits, the sandstorm battering him from every side. Sand blasted through his falling winter coat, stinging his skin, sure to leave painful welts. The ground he walked on was not hot, but it was rough just the same, blisters forming on his well-worn pads. Thirst clenched his insides, and he knew what he had done was foolish... Absolutely foolish. What had blindly walking into a storm accomplished? Nothing. There was still the emptiness in his chest and the yearn for... something...

A den. Several scents flitted through his nares, and though he couldn't tell what their intentions were, he headed for the entrance anyway. If he was lucky, there would be other lone wolves housed inside, also taking refuge from the storm. He walked in, the stone walls stopping the angry sands from reaching him, but he did not venture in very far... For all he knew, this was a place that could belong to a clan, which was almost no different than a pack, save for the contending leaders.

"Hello?" he called out. The den was bigger than it looked from the outside, and from what little light there was, he could see that it was rather deep, cavern-like. Who would have thought... a cave in the middle of the desert? It wasn't unheard of, just unexpected. He wondered what sort of wolves would be there to greet him, if to greet him at all...

Curse's grin never faltered but his eyes never left the brute either. To the short statement he raised a brow and after a moment of pursing his lips he nodded. "Quite." He said quietly and settled back down after the hessian went to the other side of the cave once more. It seemed that they were at an impasse and his leaders's uncomfortable state was starting to edge away on his nerves. He might not immediately come off as such but he had a soft spot for kids. Under all his uncanny traits and cool attitude he was a pushover for the simple things in life. Just then the sound of padfalls just under the din of the failing sandstorm. Then a voice calling out. The more the merrier he thought..

Despair's snapped to attention in seconds eyes lingering on the newcomer. He was already feeling agitated but he was, if nothing else, a fair wolf. "Greetings stranger, as you see we have a full pack tonight." The tension was thick rolling off him in uncomfortable waves. The division in the cave was obvious and Despair stepped a little closer to his clan mates, all the better to protect them. "You seek shelter as well from the storm?" He put a searching gaze on the brute.

Tension came from the brute's form the moment he appeared. Julien could spy other wolves moving behind him in the shadows, but he did not ponder too long upon them. Whatever was happening in the depths of the cavern was not his concern. His concern was getting out of the sandstorm for rest. He nodded at Despair's words. "Correct. Once the storm subsides, I shall be on my way again," he replied. He was not deterred by the fact that it was a full den, nor that there could be trouble within the depths; worrying about what may or may not happen was not his concern, especially as he was a lone traveler. For some reason, though, he found himself wondering if they had seen Dyrim...

Great, just what I needed. Mort thought. There where way to many wolves in here then should, and they where making his work significantly harder. Then something popped up in his mind, an idea, no the solution to this problem. "Hello fellow, make you comfortable over here, I'll shuffle up next to that beautyfull lady over there." He spoke, while giving Sorrow a wink. He slowly started to move over, exuding laziness. Sitting down next to Sorrow, he gave a glance at the pup, and gave her a gentle smile. So close...

Navi's auds flicked forward seeing yet another stranger enter the den. She tilted her head and then blinked softly. She took a deep breath and her eyes flickered back to the first stranger to enter the den.

He moved over closer to Sorrow and herself. He smield at her. Her ears flickered and she narrowed her gaze at him and pinned her ears, moving her line of sight back to the second stranger to enter the den. Sandstorms were nasty business it seemed and it also seemed that in that circumstance...all were welcome.

Despair watched the stranger and then nodded his head. There would be no trouble out of this brute. Eyes flicking past him to glance the outside he continued speaking "Won't be long now." It was starting to settle down and as a desert wolf he learned how to read these types of things. Though he had to say he rarely saw storms such as this around this season. Might have something to do with all the strange weather the land had been having recently.

Sorrow eyed the newcommer but besides shifting closer to the pup she did nothing. It was beginning to feel a little too cramped in here. Reaching back she ran her tongue over Navi's ear and went back to watching. As the bru progessed further into the cave the other offered him space and moved towards her. Now she was a serious wolf and didn't take kindly to those who intruded on her space. If her low grows and revelation of incisors didn't send a clear warning then he should get the message now. Quick as a snake she put the whole of her body in front of the pup and snapped out with a guttoral snarl. A moment later Despair was at her side, hackles raised looking rather deadly and more than intimidating. "I don't like you brute." She snarled out harshly. "I think it would be best if you left now and kept your eyes off my pup." Perhaps not her pup by blood but Despair had claimed this pup under his protection and that was enough for her to claim Navi as well. This she wolfess didn't mess around.

Despair then placed himself between Mort and Sorrow his lips tight. "You've upset my beta wolf, I think it best if you take the advice and get out." He eyed down the hessian. From the first he didn't like the bru and now he had the chance to expell him. Curse had stood up, eyes flicking to Julien, he was on the defense but he wore it lightly. Shooting him a lopsided smirk he said quietly with tension underlying is voice. "Welcome to the desert, wolf." And proceeded to go stand by his clanmates. Looking down at Navi he smirked once more. "It's alright small fry." Oddly enough he found himself liking this little she pup. She had a lot of fire. So they stood in their confrontation waiting to see what the next move was. Some wolves just liked provoking he guessed. He had no idea of his true motives.

"Always a good sign," Julien replied to Despair, assessing the condition of the storm. Julien moved further into the dead, his eyes adjusting to the dim light; it appeared that there were more wolves than he had perceived there was. He walked in with caution. One brute, a large white one, moved over for him to lay down, but moved too close to a pup that a female had been guarding. Julien paused and raised a brow, watching the situation unfold. "No thanks," he said to Mort, though he probably wasn't listening.

Julien laid down at the head of the cave, where the blustery sands could not reach him and he could still watch the melodramatic circle of wolves. It appeared that they did not approve of the brute that had offered him a place to lay. He watched them silently, smirking to himself - finding this den, so far, had been a good idea, and he had found an entertainment he hadn't seen since he and Stark had discovered that Hamara was taken over by dogs. One wolf caught his eye and spoke to him. "It's nothing new," Julien replied, blue eyes glinting in the light, as he made himself comfortable and could only anticipate what would happen next, like an audience at a theater show...

Mort's grin grew wide, and his mask fell off, revealing the madness beneath it, as his white eyes narrowed slightly. "You really didn't wanted to do that." There was no use in this, they apperantly claimed the pup, and he wasn't going to fight three wolves at once in here. And then there was the unknown factor that was Julien. Seeing as he had to search for easier prey, he gave them no more attention, and rose on his pillars. The cave was far too cramped for a fight. Besides, the sandstorm hadn't stopped him so far. Longing back for the cool climate of Lacrimosa and his companions over there, he decided to finish this job quickly. He moved outside, tail swinging, as he narrowed his eyes a little further. Despair... Ill' remember this. Where his last thoughts before he dissapeared into the winds of the desert.

Navi blinked her yellow eyes. The same yellow eyes her father carried in his skull. She pinned her ears at the snarl coming from Sorrow and then they flicked forward as she wondered over Sorrow's words. She called her 'her pup'. She stared at Sorrow for a long moment and then heard Despair's voice and she looked at him and flicked the end of her tail in a quick wag at his words of comfort.

The stranger who had come to close grinned after Sorrow and his words became cold and there was a danger in his eyes. He stood and moved to leave out into the swirling winds that were slowly dying down now. Navi's nose twitched and she leaned against Sorrow's forearm. "He was bad..." She stated in her puppy soprano, stating the obvious.

Three sets of eyes watched the brujo as his facade fell away to reveal something decidedly more sinister. Despair lips curled back but the bru took the wiser course of action and left. There was a pregnant pause in the air while they watched him go. Broken by Navi soft puppy voice. Sorrow looked down, her aggression broken by the child and licked the top of her head in rough affection. "There are a lot of bad wolves." Despair's chest rumbled and he stepped to the entrance of the cave, glancing back at Sorrow and Curse and nodded for a moment before he plunged back out into the desert disappearing. Curse chuckled and shot Julien a glance. "Come here often?" He chuckled as if this was a casual encounter. Laying down he rolled over and decided to get an itch on his back. Wiggling he leaned his head back and looked at the other hessian once more. "You wouldn't have happened to recognize the scent coming off that brute eh?" Curse had noticed it as soon as he entered. It was almost a pack smell but none that he recognized. Sorrow pursed her lips looking between the two brutes and leaned back on her haunches. She was a beautiful fae but hard and lethal looking. A moment later Despair ebony form came back in shaking the sand from his pelt he rubbed his eyes against his foreleg a few times and cleared his throat. "He's gone. Storms almost done, it will be safe enough to take her out in it." He motioned to Navi and fell quiet again. Eyes looking at the pup unsure of what the next step was. He needed to get back to his clan and couldn't afford to turn around deliver the pup back to Midnight Meadows right now.

Navi felt Sorrow's tongue upon her head and she wrinkled her nose slightly but wagged the tip of her tail. She gave a slight nod and then licked her own nose with a heavy sigh. Her eyes went to Julian as Despair would speak to the rougue male then he went out of the mouth of the cave.

Evidently the storm was almost done. Navi's ears flicked back and she hung her head low. They would take her home now for sure. A soft sigh slipped from her lips and she planted her puppy feet into the sand. She didn't want to go...they didn't understand...she needed to be strong and fierce and something in life so Damean would want to be around her again.

A soft whine escaped her throat.

Echo. She was his favorite....ever since she came...he had forgotten her.

She slumped down in the sand and curled into a ball. They would take her home and she was sure that her plans had ended.

Swept Away - Page 2 3770092652_f6f0317d7e

How interesting, though it was a predictable sorts of events. A fight in the cave would have been pointless. There was simply no room. "Can't say that I did," Julien replied to Curse, shrugging. Cerulean eyes landed on the pup between the fem's legs. He wondered how she got out here, what she had been doing, but kept the issue to himself. He wouldn't press on something that wasn't his business. While looking at the whelp, though, he found his eyes traveling upwards to the wolf that guarded her, Sorrow. She had a set brow that gave her a stern look, but she was by no means ugly. In fact, she was quite the looker. A slim frame, a silky coat, a sharp eye... Julien wondered if she had ever had a mate. Again, though, he did not ask - there were two other males present, and either one of them could be her mate or her brother.

At the notion of the storm letting up from Despair, Julien stood. "Then I best be making my exit," he said, dipping his crown. His stay had been short, but it was all he needed. He knew that somewhere, out there, in the vast turmoils of the desert, was Dyrim. He still didn't know why he wanted to find her so much. It wasn't because he wanted to mate with her, no. That hunger had subsided when he had quenched himself in the mating territory. And even then... There were always other faes he could mate with. Perhaps it was because Dyrim was his friend... Something he had never really had before. He wasn't sure, and didn't want to question it. He walked up to Despair. "Thank you for your hospitality. Perhaps we will meet again," he said, and stepped out into the desert, the sands still swirling around his paws. He could see the blue sky and the sun now, and he knew that it would be a long journey ahead of him.

Julien's words came to her ears and she looked up from her curled ball. Maybe he would help her? It seemed Despair was going to take her on home eventually. A soft sigh fell her lips once more and she licked sand from her nose. Maybe she could steal away and ask him to teach her ...ways that would make Damean notice her once more.

She was beginning to feel disheartened. Like she wasn't wanted anywhere. She would prove to them all her worth. Her jaw set and she gritted her teeth and gave a soft barely audible growl which probably only Sorrow would hear.

It was time to leave, the encounter worried Despair slightly but he would protect the pup. The sooner they got back to the clan the better. "Sorrow, Curse, Let's go. We'll swap off carrying her." Sorrow watched the hessian leave with a bemused expression. Her ear flicked she heard Navi's small growl. She chuckled and stepped away from the pup. "Don't worry, your adventure is not over quite yet." She looked to Despair who stood at the entrance at the cave and Curse who finally got up from the ground. "Come on and try not to open your eyes too much." In a swift but gentle motion she picked Navi up by her scruff and the band of wolves disappeared into the desert......

Navi flicked her ears forward hearing Despair's voice. Carry her? She snorted. "I can walk!" she demanded not wanting to be treated like some infant pup. She heard Sorrow's words and chuckle and her ears cocked to the side as she shook the sand from her pelt only to find herself swept up into gentle jaws. "I CAN WALK!" she demanded again but instinct kept her from squirming in her carriers mouth. She hung limply but growled her protest. She wanted to defy them by keeping her eyes open but the sand prevented that. A soft growl issued as she squeezed them shut keeping the irritating grains of Sand from irritating her further. "Where are we going?" she complained after a while of swinging limp like a piece of meat. She squirmed a little. "I can walk." She insisted again.
