| She was following the trail of a herd of deer. Even if Vaarak was hunting with her, there was no way for them to take down anything larger- not that they needed to. She wasn't aware if the rest of the pack wanted a meal, but since Cinder and Link were probably in their den, they could do with some food, especially if they wanted to go out into the lone lands when the storm died down.
She traveled further before the scent got strong enough to warn her to start to creep along carefully. Fran watched from behind a tree, scanning the herd. Her eyes came to rest on a particular deer. Most hunters would pass this buck by, declaring it an adult and healthy. There was no limp, no gash, no wounds. She noticed a misalignment in the hips- not enough to show during a casual walk. This buck would be significantly hindered if it were to be running. The best of hunters would notice this, as well as a healer that was trained enough. She pinned her ears to her head as she stalked forward.
Watching, she determined that the buck wouldn't be able to run as fast as she could, and it'd be difficult for it to zig zag with the misalignment. An easy target for what normally would have been a more difficult capture for one wolf. She crept up closer to the herd, and when she knew she would be noticed, she surged upward, running. The deer scattered, and she made sure to cut her prey from the rest. She darted across, gaining on the buck, which was struggling from having to run so suddenly, hips protesting. She smirk as she lunged upward, jaws clamping down on it's back, legs digging into the hip area, causing the buck to fall over with the sudden weight. She readjusted her grip, so her jaws were firmly clamped around the buck's neck while she tossed her head around to quicken it's death, the rest of her weighting pinning it down so it couldn't kick her.
Soon enough, the buck's life was seeped out, and it was still, unmoving under her. Standing up, she looked down at the body and grabbed it by its hind legs and started to drag it back...

| Terra looked at the water pan and shifted just so, so she wouldnt disturb the, now sleeping, pups. She leaned her head forward and lapped up some water, getting rid of the taste of the horrid stick she had bitten through earlier. She felt some of the pups shift so as to be pressed against her stomach once more. Her eyes wander to the pups, watching as they moved and made sounds, even in their sleep. |

| She tilted her head, wondering if she should voice her concerns. Healers had keen noses, but they knew when to keep out unless it was life-or-death. "Ok, then. Just remember to let me know about any changes in your health, or if you want me to give you herbs for anything. There are many complications I can prevent from happening if you tell me early enough."
Turning away, she exited her den with the pan clenched in her jaws, depositing the dirty water onto a bush. Then she traveled the short distance to where Vaarak obtained water and refilled the pan. Once finished with this task, she brought the pan back, but this time, to Terra's den and placed the pan near them, saying, "The water's clean, in case you need a drink. I'll go hunt something now." Then she left just as quickly as she came in. She walked away from the dens to catch the scent of some prey. Quickly picking one up, she followed it.

| Storm looks up at Fran and opens her jaw to speak. "Im good, but thanks Fran." She tilts her head as she watches Fran. Her head goes back to her dream but she shakes her head to get rid of the memory for the time being.
Terra looks at her pups and says their names by the way their placed. First she looks at the russet red pup and the black fem. "Cruor, Niger." She tests the names on her tounge. Her head bobs happily as she turns to the next pups. These two are snow white and a fem who looks just like her. "Phasma, Atrox." Again she tests the names. Her eyes wander to the grey-brown and red one. "Aleu, Starfire." She had heard the pup howl, and she had named her off the sound her howl made. Starfire fit the pups looks perfectly in her eyes. |

| Fran nodded, and said, "I'll be back with food in a while. Stay here." She gingerly picked up the stillborn and walked outside, finding a location further away from the dens. A proper place for a burial site. It didn't take long to dig a grave for the tiny body. After burying the body, she returned to her own den, and noticed Storm was awake. "Are you alright?" she asked. "I have to tend to a new mother, but I'm going to hunt some food for her. Do you want any? And do you need more water?" Maybe she'd be able to find some hare, or a deer. She knew she could hunt down weaker deer well enough alone. | |

| Her ears go back. "Can you take him outside?" She turns her head and watches as her pups wriggle and squirm. In her head she thinks of names. |

| Vaarak replied, "Our alpha's not captured or anything. Just... busy. Here, grab onto my tail." Waiting until Safira did so, he would guide her back to the pack while saying, "I don't understand how blind wolves are bad luck. I mean, I've never seen one before, until you showed up, but you can still do stuff. Some wolves aren't worth thinking about... or at least, that's what my brother says..."
Fran nods, saying, "It was no problem. I think I'll go hunt something for you and the others who just arrived. Just stay here and focus on your pups and naming them." Pausing in thought, she nodded towards the stillborn and questioned, "Do you want me to take him outside for burial, or do you want some time with him first?" She'd wait to hear the answer to that question. Then she'd go back to Storm's den to empty the water out. Hopefully by then, or even before, Vaarak would return.

| Terra grinned softly and started gently cleaning the puppies . She sees that Cruor looks like their father, but she doesn't care. It's love at first site. She looks up at Fran. "Thank you Fran."

| Safira felt relieved. If Vaarak was this nice the whole pack should have at least a spark of kindness in them. She knew that before she requested a guide she should answer Vaarak's question. " Yes. I was born blind. My parents never liked me and when I got older I was kicked out of my pack. They said blind wolves were bad luck, stupid superstitious pack. " She couldn't help herself at the last comment. " And thank you for your offer, I do need a guide. " Said Safira with a smile. But she wasn't finished. " I don't mean to be rude but, what do you mean I'll have to wait until your alpha's free? Do you mean he is captured? " | |

| Fran watched as even more pups were birthed. One was stillborn. She never liked to see them, but with a little this size, there was bound to be some kind of ailment. There was nothing she could do for that one. Neverthless, she still had to cut the cord between child and mother. After doing the same with the other two, she guided the pair to their siblings, noticing one with a deformity. As to whether that'd affect how she would walk once she learned, Fran didn't yet know. If the pup wouldn't be able to, she might as well not have the leg and walk around on three legs. Luckily, this wasn't a dark pack, who'd probably slaughter the newborn on sight for that weakness. "Four girls and two boys, Terra. You've done well." She looked for signs of dislike on Terra's face. There was a runt in the pack, and at least one of the pups had to look similar to the father. If any of the pups would be mistreated, she'd have to take those pups away.
Vaarak looked at Safira. He had no experience with blind wolves, although his brother did tell him that meant the wolf couldn't see. If the wolf was born that way, they never got their sight back. If it happened in battle, then it would depend if the eyes were slashed. If they were, then sight wouldn't come back. If there was no direct injury to the eye, then it could come back, or it might not. That was horrible, not being able to see the world. He couldn't imagine it, just as he couldn't imagine a wolf not being able to talk... until he saw it. "I'm sure you'll be allowed to live with our pack. As I said, you'll probably have to wait until our alpha's free... Were you born like that?" He couldn't help but ask.
Waiting until after she answered, should she choose to, he asked, "Do you want a guide or anything back to the pack?" He figured that no matter how long a wolf was blind, they still would be travelling slowly to avoid trees and boulders. Just in case she did, he positioned himself to rest his tail against Safira's shoulder so she would know where he was and she could hold onto his tail while he guided her back.

| Safira raised her head so Vaarak could see her face. Her eyes were rolled up beause there was no point to move them if she coulden't see. " I am Safira, I have traveled far to get here and would like to join your pack. I don't mind if you don't want me or if you do, and I don't mind if I am made omega or beta. If you want me gone I can understand that since I am blind. No one ever wants me, not even my parents. " Said Safira with her ears folded back and her tail tucked in. | |

| Terra lays down her head and hisses as two more pups enter the world. One was a grey/brown fem with an oddly twisted leg, and the other was a black male. While the fem moves around and acts like the others, the male lays still. No whimpers come from his teeth. His tiny chest doesnt move up and down. No breath comes to and from his mouth. She barely glimses them before the next pup comes. Shes the smallest by far. She is russet red with a white star like marking over her left eye and on her side. Her body relaxes as the contractions stop. |

| This was quite a litter so far. Two boys and two girls. She separated the umbilical cord from the pups and guided the two newborns to their siblings. Most birthings she watched rarely went past four. She turned her attention back to the two named pups, Cruor and Niger. Now that they were moving around a bit more, she could make sure they were healthy, now that they were learning they could move their limbs. | |

| Terra grins softly as she looks over the two pups. "I kinda like Cruor for the boy, and Niger for the girl." (The names are latin) She grimaces. Soon a snow white bru is born followed by a fem that looked like an exact duplicate of her mom. Both whine and whimper. |

| She repeated the same process she did for this pup's brother, making sure the daughter wouldn't try to latch on to the same spot as her brother. Fran looked at Terra, making sure there was nothing wrong. She said gently, "You're doing a great job. Why don't you think of names for the pair?" Tilting her head, she watched. Are there only two pups, or would there be a third? She grinned at the sight of the healthy pups. Children always cheered her up. | |

| Terra turns her head and looks at the young pup. A slight smile adorned her features before turning into a grimace as another contraction ripped through her. Soon a black fem is born. She squirms on the ground, whimpering as she 'looked' for milk. |

| The first pup had come, a boy, and appeared healthy. Quickly, she separated the pup from the cord that still attacked the pup to his mother. Then she gently moved him closer to his mother, so he could start drinking milk. She said to Terra, "Keep breathing, ok?" Terra would probably want to do the honors of cleaning her pup, no matter how tired she was. Now, to wait to see how many pups the new mother would have, and make sure all of them, and Terra herself, would be healthy. | |

| A whine echoed through Terras teeth and the branch snapped. A russet colored pup entered the world. The young bru- pup squirms on the ground, making soft whining noises. |

| Fran held back a sigh. She was getting tired, and had no time to eat one of those bitter, but energy supplying herbs. She held her breath, hearing a crack in the branch. It wasn't yet broken, but it meant that, shortly, the pups would be pushed out. She was still, all her attention on Terra, all other thoughts and fatigue shoved aside. Sharper contractions... soon, they'll come faster and ever moreso. She wished she could numb the pain, but that would put the lives of the offspring in danger. The pain was necessary, unfortunately. The time that branch broke would probably be the time the first pup to be pushed out and into the birth canal. Fran would only hope that Terra could love the pups, even if she hated the father. Otherwise, it'd be her duty to take them and find a suitable mother. Unfortunately, that would be Cinder, and she had no doubt she wasn't in the condition for the task. | |

| Storm nods as she lays on her good side, holding her bad paw off the ground. "Pleasure meeting ya Varaak." She calls after him.
..............................................................................................................................................
Storm looks at the black ball of fur pressed against her stomach. She had been able to have her one pup in silence. The pup was the result of the wolf who had hurt her. She sighs as she stays curled in the ball and falls asleep.
............................................................................................................................................
Storm jerks awake. It had been a dream, but she knew it was inevitable. She looked down and noticed that you could see her belly so she ruffled her fur to make the rest of her seem as big.
She gasps as she feels a much sharper contraction. Her nails dig into the ground and she almost snaps the twig in half. |

| Vaarak grins, happy to have helped. "You should get some rest, ok? Link's around in one of the other dens. He's a strong fighter. And Fran, Cinder, and I are here, too. The others are somewhere in the lands, so you'll be fine." He left the den after his statement, intent on finding the other newcomer.
((Vaarak is approaching Safira))
He trekked through to the location the last wolf was at. Seeing the lone wolf, another fem, he said, "Hi! Who're you? Are you looking for a home here, too? My name's Vaarak! There's been some other new wolves, too, but they're being treated by Fran right now, so they might not be available to talk with you for a while. Are you injured or tired like the others are? I'm not a good healer or anything, but I know some stuff." He realized he had been talking this whole time, and paused, to give the other wolf time to respond.
Fran knew she had at least a bit of time before she gave birth to the first pup, but looking at Terra, the healer knew she shouldn't leave her sight. She might panic. "Terra, I know things are not going to be alright, but we'll help you find some kind of balance here. She sat down and lightly placed a paw over Terra's, in an effort to give her some support, but still focusing on her duties to oversee the labor process. Her eyes were constantly alert, looking at Terra's signs of breathing and watching for signs of contractions. Her auds were tuned into how well the breathing was, and for anything that might sound wrong.

"Im good, thank you so much Varaak." She grins slightly at the bru. |

| Fran frowned a bit. This meant she couldn't give Terra a choice as to if she really did want those pups or not. "There's no way for me to abort this late. You're going through labor. Listen. Focus on me, ok? Just keep breathing. No matter what, breathe, and try to stay relaxed. Can you tell me your name?" She had seen the wince, and was counting to see the next one. It would help her to determine how much time she'd have. If they were coming now, she'd have to stay and run back and forth as needed, which, with luck, she wouldn't. If she had time, then she could get some herbs from her den, just in case. She looked around, and got up briefly to take a few running steps and picked up a small branch. Returning just as fast, she placed it in front of Terra and said, "Bite down on it when it starts to hurt too much. That way, you won't damage your teeth." She gave her space, but hovered nearby. Births were always an uncertain time, even for experienced healers. The mothers-to-be had different bodies, which behaved differently with each one. Most had no problems, some needed minor assistance from herbs, while others... She brushed the thought from mind.
Vaarak finished wrapping Storm's paw, and moved on to place some on the shoulder wound, reinforcing what herbs were already there. "Do you need anything else right now? We'll catch some food soon. From the looks of it, all you newcomers look tired. There's one more to greet, but after that, Fran and I will catch something." He wasn't aware of what Fran was doing or what was going on with Terra. Now that he was finished wrapping, he shuffled his paws a bit, waiting for a response.

| Vaarak looks uncertain, but doesn't say anything. Instead, he stays by Terra's side, in case she falls, slowing his speed considerably. He made the stick was pointed away from her. Eventually they make it back, and he says, "Umm... take this den. I'll bring Fran over here, ok? She's in that den. So... umm... stay here, ok?" He walked towards the entrance of Fran's den and gave out a short series of muffled barks, alerting her to an emergency.
Fran finished applying the poultice and said, "Now we wait for the webs to arrive." She was about to say more when she heard a muffled bark. Unlike the novice healer, she never panicked. "I'm sorry, Storm. It appears an emergency have come up, and our lead healer's not yet back. Vaarak will finish your treatment." Nodding reassuringly, she steps outside, and says, "Vaarak, get in and wrap Storm's paw with the cobwebs. Apply any leftovers to the shoulder wound. When you're finished, and she doesn't need anything else, attend to the other newcomer." She watched him enter her den.
She moves to the den the new scent was in, and pauses. This scent. Pregnancy? Gently approaching Terra, she said, "Hello. I'm Fran, a healer here. I have to be blunt and ask these questions: was it forced, and how long? What hurts?" By how long, she was referring to how long ago the incident happened, as well as how far along any possible pups may be. To reassure her, she said for only her ears, "You can trust us. This has happened to one of our own." Situations like these were tricky. She recognized the scent Vaarak didn't. These cases were tricky, because herbs she might normally use for a normal stomach ache would be deadly to an unborn pup or the mother herself, depending on how far along the mother was.
Vaarak had left right away at Fran's words, and entered her den, seeing Storm. "Hi Storm. I'm going to wrap these cobwebs on you. It'll keep your bones set as long as you don't walk on that leg." Tilting his head, he added sheepishly, "Or at least, that's what my brother always told me in the past." He loosened his grip on the stick, placed one of his own paws under Storm's to keep it elevated, and started to unwrap the cobwebs he collected, wrapping them snugly around the injured paw, taking care to be gentle, something that didn't come naturally for him, but as long as he worked slowly, he was capable of it.

| "I'm ok." Terra squeaks. She clenches her teeth as another contraction ripples through her stomach.
Storm freezes so as not to mess up Frans work and have the paw set wrong. |
