PostSubject: Re: A New Reign: Jabbar Junayd    A New Reign: Jabbar Junayd - Page 2 Icon_minitimeThu Feb 02, 2012 6:28 pm

Akiko walked with the young alpha and listened thoughtfully when he spoke to her. When he turned his eyes on her she could feel the doubt pin her in place. This child was so young and burdened. Destined to rise and show his greatness or wither in his fathers shadow. Not to mention his other children...his half brothers and sisters also being her nieces and and nephews. She could see the force of question behind his eyes as well. Yes, why did she talk so little of Damean and Jaded? Perhaps it was the empty feeling at the edges of her heart...but no, best not to think of these things. Her face as stoic as ever she broke the solemnity of the situation by nipping his flank. "You will be a fine Alpha and I do not doubt that many wolves will one day fear and respect you." Just then two wolves came upon them.

Akiko stepped ahead of Damean slightly her territorial gauge switching on. But it was Damean who spoke and it was her who listened, allowing him to try his wisdom. Ice blue eyes switched back and forth from the pair. They seemed legitimate enough, just the usual newcommers. She let Damean Junior deal with them before she looked examining gaze. "I will not contest you on matters such as those but I would not advise making a practice of something like that." He was still to young to understand the dangers. He just informed two strangers of those he obviously held dear to him. She would have to speak to him later.

When he headed off and asked her to come she merely paused and watched him go. Following a few minutes after she stood in the cover of the woods as she watched the reunion with Echo...and how did she get here?

The black hessian had paid attention to the whole meeting, a feat in amongst itself, and by the end he was bored. A task, how exciting! The joker smirked briefly, his gaze lifting from Akiko to the rest of the dismal pack. Without much thought, Zai stood and padded away. It would be good to get away from all the idiocy of the pack, perhaps he could find time to snack on a hare should the need arise. Zaiaku had walked with Blade for only a bit before breaking away, uncaring towards any of the commotion that already began. Zai was swift in his movements, slipping through the woods with ease and ignoring any sound about him. He slipped along the banks of Onyx Lake, stopping only briefly to drink and glance over the terra. Despite now being in the pack for a while, he found himself exploring a bit. After all, he had come and gone from the lands but hadn't really learned every inch of them. Though this lake had been a pit stop for him before, it was fairly close to the lone lands, a place he had more familiarity with. Zai moved on to the borders, slipping along them and doing his duty, an odd scene in his own mind. After all, the borders could've been left unmarked for all he cared. But the hessian had nothing better to do, other then perhaps pester Akiko, the woman was always short tempered. A smirk danced across the pitch wolf's features, and his golden eyes scanned around. His duty was done, now it was time for a snack and alone time.

He didn't know how to respond to her 'always around' comment so he remained silent. At the mention of fun he didn't know how to reply either. His mind was blank to such ideas since he hadn't explored much here, but wait, there was one place he wanted to see. "I know of a cave" he said not looking up at her, looking down at his own feet, making it seem like they were still in deep conversation. "And I don't think any of the adults can fit inside it. I haven't gotten to go back into it. It's dark and spooky and I wonder if there are any creatures inside" his little face twitched trying to give away his excitement. Echo would come with him, she had the same gut filled ideas as he had. He didn't want to scare her though, what if there were dark creatures in there?

His tail twitched and he took a deep breath letting it out slowly. "Wanna go?" he asked trying not to give away his eagerness for the grown ups to see. Akiko was there, though he didn't see her, the wind gave her scent away. Wind. It was crisper, cooler, would fall and winter be coming this way? He hadn't seen snow yet, this would be exciting, though he didn't know if he'd wanna play with Echo, she was fair as white as the snow he guessed would be, and playing hide and seek with her in winter would be a bust. His head came up and he looked at her with only eyes he would give to her. "Yes no? Or you afraid of the dark" his head tilted just a little to the side and he let a sideways grin give him away...

Exodus was watching both pups, though not looking directly at them but from a side. "Oh... Akiko. We should go see her" she looked over to the bru and without waiting she stood and strode a half moon circle around the pups coming up to Akiko. "Hello my old teacher" she said softly giving her a wink. "Sorry to intrude here. Midnight Meadows... I don't know how father did it. A treaty with them... protecting Cinder like he did... I mean. Guilt yes because of Legend but... it's different now..."

Her words were more like a question to the white she wolf. "Echo. Well, when Damean was there they played a lot together. I am hoping it's not to much to ask permission for us to stay here... come back home?" she looked to the pups who still spoke. Damean having a little light to his face now. She hoped she had made a good choice. Her golden eyes drifted back to Akiko and she wanted for a response from what was once her 'motherly' figure... strange how times change...

He smiled, and then didn't smile, as if he was trying to hide it. At first Echo thought it was weird, but he kept glancing over his shoulder at the adults. Her swishing tail fell and she lowered her head, but a mischievous smile spread across her black leathers. "Of course I wanna go," she replied without an ounce of hesitance. She snorted when he asked if she was afraid of the dark. "Oh, c'mon. Only scaredy pups are afraid of the dark," she said, and looked up, seeing Exodus get up and talk to a white wolf that looked strangely like her... It must have been Akiko. One of the important wolves of the pack around here. She didn't put much thought into it, her blue eyes meeting Damean's. "We should go while no one's looking." Her paws itched, despite the long journey to get to the place she was now. She felt as if she could have endless amounts of energy when she was adventuring with Damean. What would be in the cave? How big would it be? Was it anything like a den? Her blood raced to find out...

Damean felt like he was doing a great job at playing it off like they were talking. His shoulders slumped and he lifted his head to sigh seeing Echo acting the same way. She was good too. "I have an idea." he said softly and looked over at Akiko. "Come on" he spoke in just a whisper and stood trotting over to them wagging his tail slightly but enough to look like he was going to be put down by a 'no' type of answer. He made his way slowly over to Akiko stepping through the water and coming out to the two females.

"Akiko. Exodus. Echo and I want to play hide and seek but we need someone to count. Will one of you count?" he looked up at them giving a puppish smile and wagging his tail a bit more. "Plleeeaassseee?" his smile grew wider and he began to wiggle his body a little more to emphasize his excitement to play. He really wanted to show Echo this cave. It would be a good hiding place... one the grown ups couldn't get into. And he didn't think anyone knew about it, so it'd take them a while to find them. Damean hadn't gone inside yet, and Echo would be the perfect friend to go with, she was adventurous enough to withstand the fear on the inside, if there was any fear, he didn't know, and he was hoping to find out soon. If not, plan B would have to take place... what that was he didn't know yet.

Echo hid her smile and chased after Damean, running up to the adults. She didn't know Akiko very well, so she turned her gaze up to Exodus, her eyes seeming to grow bluer and bluer with each day. "Please, Exodus?" she said, wagging her tail, but not as quickly as Damean. She was excited, but she wouldn't let it show too much. That would give them away. "I wanted to play hide-and-seek with Navi, remember? But then she ran away and we never got to play..." she asked with her auds down, as if to recall the sadness she had felt. Hopefully, the adults would say yes... If not, well, she and Damean would have to take matters into their own paws. It felt as if they could do anything in the world when they were together, and that is how it felt at this very moment.

Akiko smiled kindly when Exodus approached her after speaking to the wolf who had just come here. In response to her greeting she touched the she wolf softly on the shoulder with her nose for a brief second. Listening to the femme speak while glancing at the pups she shrugged. "Exodus you know this will always be home for you." Pausing she looked pensive for a moment. "And the other little one, who does she belong to?" She turned to face her blue eyes searching for an answer. What a deranged world they lived in that pups were left about for the taking and they called us evil? Just then the pair of pups walked up them, Damean asking them to count. Akiko raised her brow and shrugged. "One, two, three..." She started knowing they would flee as soon as she started. Silly little creatures, as if she didn't see them scheming over there. Akiko hadn't lived this long to let a pair of pups outsmart her. Pups always made the same mistake, they forgot about that thing at the end of their face called a nose. Wherever they went Akiko would know how to follow, even if they tried any sly tricks. Ah well she would let them have their fun. Counting louder she said "FIVE, SIX, SEVEN..." and winked at Exodus.

Gladiator looked around from where he laid down. He could see the others but remained quiet. He felt it was not his place to say anything. As he laid there his mind began to wonder to his family. There numbers will not stop growing and as things go they will cause more pain then anything. He glanced at Akiko his mind wondering to thoughts of her. He snorted a bit lifting himself and moving to the trees. He moved to the large bolders that sat close to his den by the waterfall. He could feel someones eyes on him. He growled a little looking down the stream spotting Archillis. He moved to Gladitor with his ears pinned back and his tail hanging low but not tucked under him.

"They have made a den area in the dessert hidden by walls of rocks that seemed to be moved there. It's about a day from here." Archillis spoke in his calm tone eyes ever leaving Gladiators form.

"Very well then" Was all the old brute said to him. He moved to his den now "Don't disturbe me" was all he said as he dissapeared into the shadows of his den.

Archilis looked a bit puzzled but said nothing. He just moved to where the others where and sat there watching them.

Exodus laughed as the pups wanted to play hide and seek. She had just been a new parent but she could feel the want for more information on their little hiding place. She wouldn't press, but she looked at Akiko and smirked turning and skipping off to her own hiding place. Damean though, his eyes looked right at Echo and then he shoved her and dashed off. The cave, the cave, go to the cave. He sprinted and darted through the trees. They would get there and go inside, it was going to be perfect. He ran and ran, eventually running out of breath and slowing down. He was young, but he was still a puppy and got winded very quickly. Eventually though he made it to the cave entrance and without waiting, stepped inside. Stepping though. He had to squeeze into the cave, which seemed impossible but he pushed through and got inside.

Echo grinned up at the adults. "Thanks, mom," she said to Exodus, quickly bowing her head, and then Damean crashed into her shoulder as Akiko started counting. She returned the shove with a playful growl and chased after him, her white legs like rabbit's feet beneath her. Damean was fast, that was certain, but she was able to keep up, sprinting up to his flank. It didn't take them very long to reach the spot that would lead them inside the cave. Damean slipped inside and Echo followed, emerging into the darkness.

Silence surrounded them. A shaft of light from where they came illuminated the floor they stood on, but nothing else. Total darkness was on their path ahead. Echo looked over her shoulder - if she strained her ears, she could still hear Akiko counting. And though Akiko was very small, she was not as small as a whelp. "There's no way they're fitting through there," she said with a sharp grin. She trotted up next to him and bumped him in the shoulder. "C'mon! Let's go!" she exclaimed, her voice bouncing off the walls. There wasn't a whole lot of light ahead of them, but there would be just enough to explore.

The young king's eyes adjusted to the light his little optics pulling in small fragments of light to secure better visual abilities in the dark. "Nope" he whispered softly stepping forward sniffing the air. "Do you smell that!" he said stepping more quickly into the darkness. "It smells like... heat" he turned to see her white pelt catching the light. She was a glowing brilliant light in this darkness, almost as if she really did glow. It was hot in here and his mouth opened lightly and he panted a little. It was really warm in here. He turned and looked around again. "I wonder if there's any bears in here" he looked back at her with a smile on his face. "Or any treasure meats" he smiled even bigger and took another step forward hearing the crunch of rocks under his paws.

Echo paused. She sniffed the air as well, and sneezed at what she picked up. It was a mixture between dung and rotten meat, but she kept this to herself. She figured that it must be what heat smelled like. She followed Damean through the darkness, the gravel crunching beneath her paws. The further they went in, the warmer it got. Her white coat was slightly thicker than Damean's and she panted, but it wasn't because of the heat. Her blood was hot with excitement, wondering what sort of wonders were held in the cave. There could be bears, treasure meats, or maybe even a pack of wolves that lived underground... Whatever there was, she trekked into the depths of Jabbar's underworld, and right beside its King...

The cavern became narrow, at first, but then opened up into a huge, gaping room. Echo came to a stop on the top of the cliff they had emerged on; down below them was a network of boiling hot magma, illuminating the stalactites above them with a soft orange. She coughed, the scent of sulfur growing twice as strong, and covered her nose with her paw. Her blue eyes teared up from the raw sharpness of it. For the first time, she considered turning back, but not out of fear. "Where-Where are we, Damean?" she coughed, never having seen such a strange, warm place before. Even from where they stood, the heat was ferocious. She watched as sandstone-hued rocks sank into the river of magma like icebergs slipping into the sea. Her paws itched on the ground beneath her. Hopefully, they wouldn't fall in as well...

Akiko finished counting though she hadn't bothered to close her eyes. She could easily find Exodus if need be but she figured she would start with the pups. Stepping lightly in the direction the two of them headed in she followed their trail easy enough. They left marks that practically screamed of their travel. Sniffing a few branches to pinpoint them she called out softly. "Here I come..." Until she found a rock base and began sniffing around it. She was familiar with these rocks and deftly climbed up them and continued to follow their scent. It had been a few minutes now and she could not hear them but their scent was strong. She came to a small hole in the rock, she stuck her body part way in and laying down she managed to fit herself in quite a way. But even as tiny as she was she could not make it all the way through. Trying to look in there was little light to see by but she knew that the pups had definately entered. Backing herself out carefully she shook her fur out and stood by the entrance for a moment unsure of what to do. Perhaps she would let them hide out for a bit thinking that they were all sorts of clever before she called them back.
Turning back around she trotted briskly back and using the same technique, though Exodus covered her tracks better, she eventually found the she wolf and smiled softly. "They are hiding in a cave southwest of here." She indicated that she should follow and began walking back there. Looking sideways at girl she had watched grow up she said "So Mother huh?" It was clear from the fems body that she had not born any pups of her own flesh. Akiko wondered what drove her to adopt this one, though Exodus did have a kinder heart than most.

He'd given up on the wolf he'd greeted. After a few moments of silence, he'd given the large, black fae a look that said either leave or follow him. He'd know if she would continue into the lends without him. If she followed him, he wasn't heading directly towards the pack just yet. He still had some ways to secure. She'd probably question him were she still following. Otherwise, she was just another wolf, probably unsettled by his greeting. Although the pack was probably lighter than it'd been in the past, he wasn't keen on having those more pure of heart around. Exodus and Petra were different, though. They'd grown up here.

He soon finished, and check a bit into where Zai was supposed to secure. Seeing that he'd actually done so, he turned back, nothing to do for the moment. He could see if Akiko needed other things done, or wait for her to call.

Damean was aware of the ever growing heat, but he was drawn to it. Eventually both pups came to a cliff and he snorted at the smell. She asked where they were, he didn't know how to answer it. "Don't look down at that, step ba--" his voice was drawn by something glittering to his left. "Echo..." he wispered her name and turned facing another entrance into a new opening. "What do you think that is?" he waited for to say something, never would he admit that standing here he was scared, his bones would shake but he wanted to be brave for her, and so he stepped forward a little. "Come on" His head turned back to her and he smiled. Her white pelt was now gleaming as they stood new the red water that burned with a nasty scent and a fire color. "It's cooler over here... kinda" his tongue came out and he panted standing here. He was happy to be here, happy to just be... well be with Echo.
Exodus had hidden quite well she guess, but even when Akiko came up to her she felt that jolt of adrenalin at being found. She wagged her tail and sat up smiling at Akiko. "You should hide, it's a bit more fun" she laughed a little and then felt her chest tighten a little at the word of mother. "Yeah, Do you remember Evon, the one who killed that female that was around Damean so much. The white witch? She came to Midnight Meadows and just, dropped the pup off..." She felt her mouth forming words and they spilled out, she was comfortable with Akiko, why not just talk as friends would. "It was then I felt unable to fit in with that pack. Father was dead, word that Aladar was dead, killed by Rawbones... I just didn't know what else to do. But then came this pup. And Cinder... with her little Navi had taken her under her wing. You came for Damean, and Cinder hadn't told Navi the truth about who her father was, it... it was just all bad. And I took the pup and came here, we've grown closer then I expected." She smiled and shrugged. "What about you, what happened with you and that big white lug of a brute" she ment Gladiator. And she also wondered why Akiko had never... mated...

She backed away from the edge, keeping her head low. Her auds twitched at her name and she turned to him, seeing Damean's pearly white smile from an otherwise completely black form, made darker by the dim light of the cave. The way his bright blue eyes danced in the shadows made him look like the devil. "What is it?" she asked, following his gaze and seeing the strange, shining light. Hopefully, it wasn't more of the giant river of magma below them. He went and headed off for another wing of the cave; she paused, looking over her shoulder at their entrance. It was not fear that tugged at her heart, but their safety. The adults wouldn't know where they had gone, and if they did, they wouldn't be able to reach them if something happened. Damean was moving further and further ahead of her, his black, swinging form teasing her to follow. Not willing to turn back alone, she squatted, leaving a scent marker for them to come back to. It wasn't much, but if anything bad happened, they would at least know their way out.

She scampered up next to him, the ceiling above them becoming low again, like the narrow passage they had taken to get into the magma chamber. It was indeed cooler, the pads of her paws sensing the slight temperature change, but it was still hot nonetheless. The small tunnel was almost in total darkness, spare the light behind them and the light ahead of them. "What do you think it is?" she asked, her tail wagging at the thought. If they could somehow discover some coyote's lost treasure meats, they'd be the richest pair of wolves in the world...

PostSubject: Re: A New Reign: Jabbar Junayd    A New Reign: Jabbar Junayd - Page 2 Icon_minitimeMon Mar 26, 2012 2:35 pm

Damean looked a bit puzzled as they walked into the new area of the cave. His eyes were adjusting to the light and now there was more of a sparkle catching his eyes. He slowed as the ground began to come downwards and he looked down at his feet while he walked noticing how the ground felt different, it felt... smoothed, worn down by time, like the paths in Jabbar that were always used by the wolves, maybe these had been used by wolves before. "Echo..." he said finally coming to a stop. The air was cooler now, as if heading downwards had made it colder. "Look at this!" he walked over slowly, sniffing the air as he came closer to something... "Bones! Look we found our treasure" he smiled and looked at her wagging his tail. "Look at this" he turned back to the remains of what was their treasure and then stopped. "What is it..." he turned his head in confusion from side to side.

They were bones, and if he had ever seen a human before he would know what they were, but to him, they looked like some mystical creature. Round head, Long legs and they had four of them like a dog, but the ones that were intact, almost as if they hadn't fallen to pieces, they had long toes too. He sniffed them, his nose touching one and it rattled and fell apart, he gave a weird yelp sound and jumped back bumping into Echo and then growling as the figure began to crumple apart. "What are these..." he asked again, but it was a question he didn't think would be answered. His pelt shook with a breeze and he wondered in the back of his mind what and where that breeze was coming from. His eyes looked around and he noticed all the more bodies. Some though, that were perched higher in the cave seemed to be... well they were not bones.

A deep breath and he coughed. How did these creatures live here, the smell was horrible. He stepped away from Echo and back to the remains that had fallen apart. "They have this shiny stuff on them... it's gold." he knew what gold was, he had heard about it before, but he didn't know what to really make of it, didn't know to these 'humans' it was something they valued when wolves just value their meals. Speaking of which, his stomach growled at that thought and he turned to Echo wondering what she thought of all this. "Should we go back? or keep going forward?" there could be tons of caves like this, tons of bones and gold and other treasures. Echo hadn't said much since they had gotten in here, and he stepped back to her nosing her cheek. It was easy to see the white pup in the dark. It felt nice, for even he looking at his own body it was hard to spot where he started and where he ended. He would get lost if it wasn't for Echo and the little light bouncing from her pelt...

Like a silent, white ghost she followed him, his black form nearly disappearing in the darkness, the cave growing dimmer and cooler with each step. The feeling of the air even changed, her puppy hairs standing up on the back of her neck, as if waiting for something to rush out and attack them, but nothing did. Instead, they came upon a room much like the entrance to the underground labyrinth had been, where Damean made quite the interesting discovery. She watched as he approached the carefully-constructed pile of bones collapse into a pile of dust, as if a rogue wind had swept through and knocked it down, but no such wind had blown. A chill shivered through her, a chill that made her ears pin to her head and tuck her tail, but in the same instant it had flown through her, it vanished. Damean hadn't noticed. She gave her pelt a firm shake, and strode up next to him.

"They're skeletons," she said, the word coming to her mind quicker than she had remembered. Unlike Damean, she didn't touch them; instead, she stood back, cautious and curious, but not afraid. She cocked her head and the hardened, liquid gold on their hands and skulls. She studied one, and then turned to another, where a flimsy, rusty object was held in their skeletal palm. Again, not touching the skeleton, she sniffed the object - it was also made of metal, not gold, but it had the scent of old blood caked on it as well. She took a step back. "I think they were fighting over this gold... stuff. It's seems a little ridiculous, but I think this was their 'treasure'," she observed, her tail swishing behind her. At Damean's question to keep going or turn back, she looked at him, his bright blue eyes shining in the dark. She then looked ahead of them, where an even darker tunnel lead into the heart of the cave.

"Come find me..."

A sharp yelp escaped from Echo's throat and she startled backwards, her tail high and her ears pinned, thrown into a defensive position. She expected something monstrous to explode at them, but nothing did; just the echoing sound of her yelp. "Did... Did you hear that?" she asked Damean, now tucking tail and pressing her shoulder against his. Whether he did or not, a look of determination crossed her features. "I think we should keep going," she said, now with an air of confidence, as if she had not been scared at all. The fear of what she heard still held her tight, but something else... Something deeper made her want to continue, though she did not know what. "Akiko and Exodus can wait a little longer."

Fighting. Over this. That was ridiculous. He sniffed the air and peered around. His mind was lost in thought waiting for Echo to answer his question about going back to Akiko and Exodus but while in the middle of thought, about these skeletons and their war for gold Echo yelped beside him and he turned quickly looking around them, his pupils flexed in the dark trying to catch what was attacking her, what was harassing her, what was around her or coming at her to attack them. Nothing. He felt her press into him and he licked her ear in reassurance that he still was there, though his feet were anxious catching any movement being made under them, an echo of sound made in the darkness through movement to their pads. Nothing. It was like a blank sheet of paper, nothing was written before them, and when she spoke he turned quickly to her and then strained his auds to hear. "No... I didn't hear anything" he said feeling his heart pound a little in his chest. Was there something here he couldn't see? Was that the chill, could Echo see and hear things he didn't. If so, he was even more glad in this second to have her with him, what if something was there and he couldn't notice... he was so very glad Echo was here.

But soon her words answered his questions and he felt she had a new reason for wanting to continue forward. "After you then" he smiled and nudged her cheek softly. "Unless you want me to lead." He smirked and puffed out his chest, trying to be bigger then he was.

Echo smirked. "You may be the King of Jabbar, but I'm the Queen of the Underworld," she teased, the tip of her tail swishing against his nose in a playful manner. Though it unnerved her that he didn't hear what she had, she was beginning to get the sense that there were things in the world that she could understand that others didn't. When she and Exodus had first entered Jabbar, she had seen a ghost, and Exodus had not. Whether these things were figments of her imagination - echoes of her mind - she didn't know, but it would have felt otherwise wrong to fight or ignore it. This being her thought, she pushed forward into the darkness.

The floor sloped downward, gently at first, her pads slipping on the smooth floor. Just as it seemed that they were about to slide down a chute, the floor evened out again, and now, they were in total darkness. Echo looked over her shoulder at Damean - she couldn't even see his blue eyes anymore, just faint flickers of light. She wasn't even sure if they'd be able to turn around at this point. Again, fear held her, but it did not paralyze her.

"Please, come find me..."

"There it is again," Echo said, knowing that Damean could not hear the voice, but she could. "It... It sounds like a female. She's... She's asking for me... Us... To find her. Do you think she's lost?"

Underworld. Damean smirked and let her go forward. He felt like his was going into the depths of a land he had never seen. Of course, he had never seen this world but he felt like he was entering... Echo's world. The Underworld, but he didn't want to admit he believed her, without even talking about it yet, she was special, though not in a bad way at all. Us. It had to have been made just for her, and he felt like he stood in the middle of no where now. He couldn't even see her shape just random specks of light, he was a darkness all in itself, his pelt held no fragments of the light now. He felt his blood growing this with tension as he stood there, he didn't want to stand still anymore. "I say we find her. Help her. But. I have to follow you. I can't hear her..." he scooted forward to her body heat till his coat brushed hers, he wanted to stay next to her now just incase anything came out. He wanted her to get out, to leave first, get back to the entrance, he'd stay and fend anything that came off... if it was indeed harmful.

He couldn't admit to the fact that he felt out of sorts standing here in this dark. The ground had sloped under their feet and they had gone down quite a ways. Damean couldn't hear nor see whatever it was that Echo saw, but he knew deep inside whatever it was... it couldn't be bad, could it. His mind was drawn back to the area with his mother and father, where they were buried at this moment, Echo had been strange there, not in a bad way, she had been unique with how she acted. Another sense, another gift. Were there gifted wolves? There must be, but if not, well Damean, though he was young, knew now how lucky he was to have Echo in his life, gifted or not, though this fun mystery to her made it quite an exciting feature.

PostSubject: Re: A New Reign: Jabbar Junayd    A New Reign: Jabbar Junayd - Page 2 Icon_minitimeTue Mar 27, 2012 12:29 am

Another chill surged down Echo's spine, but it was not cold like last time; instead, it tickled, and it was because Damean was pressing into her side. It made her smile, even in the darkness. "Okay," she said, nudging him. She rose her tail and gave it a wag. "As the Queen of the Underworld, I declare it my duty to protect you from the evil that lurks in this cave." She then continued forward, their pads echoing on the floor, on the walls, until there was a very faint, bluish-green light ahead of them, like an star underwater. She wasn't sure if Damean could see it or not, but she headed towards it anyway. Something within kept her tethered to this austere light, the same way the voice pulled her in and the same way the ghost had beckoned her on the ground above.

"I smell water," she said, the light growing brighter. "Do you?" She pushed onward, and the light opened up into a beautiful cavern, the kind with a ceiling of glittering, rainbow jewels and strange, glowing insects. A trickling waterfall flowed into a pool at the very center of the room, and seemed to have a glow all its own. It was an underwater lake, an aquifer, buried beneath the earth. Echo wasn't sure if they were even in Jabbar's territory anymore, but wherever they were, it was without a doubt, a beautiful sight.

"Wow..." was all she could say, her head tilted at the ceiling, decorated like the midnight sky. She turned to Damean, now able to see him again, glad to have him with her. Something about the whole adventure with him had taken her away from what she knew, which wasn't much, but it was enough to make her feel... like her own person. She somehow knew that somewhere, out in the world above, were those that wanted to take control of her, steer her towards a fate she refused. She couldn't pinpoint who these wolves were or how they would do such a thing, but at that very moment, it didn't matter, because Damean was here.

PostSubject: Re: A New Reign: Jabbar Junayd    A New Reign: Jabbar Junayd - Page 2 Icon_minitimeTue Mar 27, 2012 1:12 am

Damean couldn't help it, but when she spoke of protecting him he laughed out into the darkness. It smashed into the walls and bounced around making it a much larger laugh then he had intentionally made it. He snapped his maw shut and looked around the darkness as if he were going to be letting that laughter awaken some... monster. Nothing happened, eventually his laughter bounce died down and they were left in darkness again. "Sorry" he whispered to her, but they were moving now, and his apology was drowned out by their footsteps. Before she said something he had smelled the faint water smell, the thick heat though made it strange and a dense scent. "I do!" he got excited with that scent and he stepped more lightly with her as they went closer to the light. Light!

He felt his eyes adjusting the the change in scenery before him as as they drew closer to the new area his heart began to race, did Echo hear that? He sure felt like she did, it was pounding in his chest like a gun, and if she couldn't hear it, then the female they followed must hear it. Her words echoed his facial features. His maw was open and his eyes were trying to catch everything about this fantasy land. "Look at what you found..." he said turning to her with a smile on his face. "The lands of Fire and Ice have a neutral territory that no one but us can step on" He felt heat blush to his cheeks saying this to her, his compliment coming out in such honesty that he blushed. Her pelt was gleaming in the strange lights that were being reflected and his heart began to soften but pound at a new rate. He wanted to stay here forever, away from everyone and everything except her. He didn't want to be king, he didn't want to be... no he had to be, but he knew that having Echo with him through all of that would be okay. Call it growing up in matters of moments but he felt it rightful in his heart and soul to have Echo with him threw everything he did in his life. Every adventure, every trial and error. They would be yelled at for coming down here, he knew that, but he didn't care, as long as Echo would be there.

His heart began to race again and he looked away to take in more of this cave seeing now the glowing bugs that radiated the light. "This... is a treasure" he said softly blushing again but not looking at her. "Thank you Echo, for being so special. If it weren't for you, we wouldn't get to see this. How many other wolves do you think have seen this? None I bet. I mean, those skeletons back there, they must have seen it, but I don't think any other wolf has seen it, or else they'd tell us about it right... unless there is something in here we're not supposed to know about, cause we're the only ones who can fit in here..." He looked at Echo almost fearful but his smile turned into a smirk and he waited for her to say something. Either with the voice urging them on more, or to be here... whatever it was. No adventure would ever top this one... unless... what if they helped more things only Echo would see and hear? They could be detectives...

She blushed beneath her fur. For some reason, those words that Damean said made her feel... warm. Like when Exodus had welcomed her into her family, or when she had first been talked to like something other than a whelp. "If it wasn't for your bravery, though, I don't think I'd be here either," she said. "Now, c'mon. I don't know about you, but I'm thirsty."

She bounded down the slope and reached the edge of the underground lake. At the very center, pale fish and frogs swam. They seemed to have a glow all their own, just as the pool of water did. Echo dipped her maw in and took a heavy drink. She felt the need to rest - it had been a very long day for her, afterall, coming to the lands from the desert. It was more than likely to be night time by now. Yet, with Damean here, she felt as if she could keep going, keep exploring. She looked down at the smooth surface of the water, examining her reflection, when she realized... It wasn't her reflection at all!

"Damean!" she barked in excitement, front paws dancing. "Come here! You've gotta see this!" She looked back at the wolf in the water. She was pale, like herself, but her coat was also brushed with gold, like an angel's dust. The wolf's eyes were of the pearliest heather, flooded with warmth and understanding. Echo didn't know who this fae was, but she didn't seem to be a threat. "Do you see that? Do you know who she is?" Echo asked, tail wagging, hoping that he could see it.

Damean jumped forward with the fun antic to join her in the water. There were fish in here, strange fish, he hadn't seen them and wondered if they were edible. His stomach growled and he dunked his head in the water drinking heavily realizing he had a nasty residue in his mouth from the sulfur in the air. His hair stood up though while he stood in what he felt was a special oasis for Echo and himself. Hands, that's what it felt like, running fingers along his fur. He felt like he was being caressed by hands, though it was only the echo of the fish's swinging tails, still though, he felt uneasy standing in here, like he didn't belong in it. With that thought he was about to turn when Echo's excited voice broke his trance and he jumped a little turning and going over to her and stepping out of the water looking at it next to her. Her, that's all he saw. "No..." he said almost as if he were mad at himself. "What do you see, describe it!" he grew excited though, knowing she finally saw something instead of heard it. This though, made him even more excited, he was going to get to know something only Echo would know, and they would get to know it together, alone...

She smiled as Damean dunked his whole head underwater, the fish swimming around his skull. She giggled and was half-tempted to join him, maybe even go for a swim. He came over and shook off his pelt, water droplets flying. "She's right there! In the white!" she said, turning back to the pool. The surface was rippled from Damean's play, and the reflection was gone. In addition, Damean saw nothing. Echo's ears fell and she sighed. "Oh. Maybe I was just seeing things," she said, and began to wonder if she had been hearing things as well... It wasn't something a normal wolf did. She knew this by now, and yet, it still partially unnerved her. When the water settled, she looked into the water again.

Another, more sinister, wolf stared back.

She couldn't tell if the reflection was male or female, just that the wolf was undoubtedly evil. Wicked, smoky black fur stuck out at strange angles from a bony form, crimson eyes swimming like pools of blood, absent of pupils. Pink and white scars ran down the wolf's shoulders like it had ran through thorn bushes, and a crooked jaw hanging slightly agape was enough to make Echo's smile fade. She took a step back and had an overwhelming urge to bark at the monster, but it was as if her voice was caught in her throat.

"M-Make it go away, Damean," she whimpered, her eyes now shut, but it was as if she could see the big, bad wolf behind her eyelids, as if it was right there with her. She pinned her ears to her head, not wanting to hear a voice, if there was one... Hopefully, it wasn't the one that had called her here, called her and Damean to their deaths... "Get... Get rid of it."

"You can't get rid of something that's in your blood and soul."

The voice was in her head. In her head, she didn't need her ears to hear it. Terrified, she raised her head and released a long, painful howl, unable to contain all that was happening.

Damean looked at the water and then back at Echo. She looked down, as if she felt shame, and he wanted to go to her but something held him in place. Something held him. He felt his hackles raise up and his lips pulled back, it was then the atmosphere changed and he heard Echo asked him to get rid of it. Rid of what? He looked at her, she had been looking at the water and now he felt the strange tension in the air. His eyes trailed down to the water but nothing was there, nothing but his own reflection. He looked at her and he felt the sudden surge of anger press through him. He lifted his front end up, like a horse rearing back, and smashed down into the water. He forced his body to do it a couple more times and then Echo howled. He was instantly beside her nuzzling her and then he was before her, pushing her back farther on the 'beach' that was before the water. His tongue traced her face licking her over and over trying to calm her down. "Echo, echo!" he whimpered and nuzzled her shoulder softly. "It's okay. Nothing is going to get you while I'm here. I promise. Echo... please..." He wanted her to calm down. A chill ran through his spine and he looked around them. He felt like the cave was getting darker now and it made him unsettled. "Do you want to leave?" he said turning his eyes back to look at her softly, letting her know he was still here, no matter if they went back or went farther forward...
