Cinder

Cinder followed Links suit and stretched. Her body felt bruised and battered but it was par for the course...it felt alot better than at first. She watched Link so full of life and her silver eyes held a special glow just for him. She looked up at the blue sky, cloudless and clear today and sighed. The sun kissed her features and she wished she could forget what had happened. Her ears flicked back slightly and then she shook her own silvergrey pelt. Don't...she reprimanded herself in her mind.

Link's whine made her look toward him and her ears cupped forward. He wanted to hunt. Cinder's belly replied with slight rumble. She was hungry and knew that she should have nothing to worry about but her tail wound around her legs. "It's okay Link, I will be okay." she said and gave him a soft smile. She had to be okay....okay for him. She should be safe here. Legend did not know where she was plus with the injury Link had given him by rights he should die. Why did Cinder fear then? She would wait in the den after Link left...she would be safe there. Yes, safe. Cinder also wondered after Exodus. She had been injured too. She sighed and smiled at Link again. Knowing she was safe but also not wanting him to leave her side.

One who withholds wisdom...

Zelda smiled as Balthier joined her. "Yes, we at least have to get some preliminary dens made. The colder weather will be upon us soon. No good for digging then." Dragging out clumps of dirt she noticed Varaak come to their side as well and she nodded at him. "Hello Varaak" she said pleasantly, smiling the whole while as his brother scolded him and made him go back to the timid fem.

Stopping her labor for the moment she watched the young bru go and then looked at Balthier with a smile. "You are a good brother to him, where most would sooner snap you guide. A good wolf like you...I am happy to have in this pack. " Still bestowing a kind smile on him she turned and continued to dig.

Waking easily from his slumber when Cinder did he nodded at her request and began to shift. Sliding from the den right behind her, he too stretched happy for the respite. He had an awful kink in his back...not that he would ever indicate it. Leaning back he raised his hind paw and gave himself a good scratch. Afterwards standing and shaking out his pelt. Now that there were life back in his limbs he looked eager and spry. Eyes beheld his love to see how she was handling everything. So far...so good. How much does it take to break a wolf? He did not know. Zelda had endured years of such trials but had recovered for the most part. Then again, she was one of the strongest fems he had ever met.

Cinder was strong and he knew that she would pull through this...though he feared what would happen if she was with...mind skipped over it. Best not to dwell upon the negatives. Smiling at her he wondered if she would be okay if he went and caught them so food. There was no need to strain herself. Whining in his throat to grab her attention he made several motions, dodging back and forth and snapping at the air to get his point across.

Though if she wanted him to stay then he would he okay with that too.

Balthier, relieved to have his brother by his side again, looked at Braeden, noticing how her mood slightly changed when Vaarak left her, so he looked his brother and gently scolded him, "Look, Vaarak. In this situation, you don't leave a wolf in the midst of unfamiliarity. She's not comfortable with all of us here. Go back to her for now. She knows you and Morgan, not the rest of us. Don't take away what she knows until she's ready to befriend the rest of us." He then proceeded to nudge the younger wolf back towards Braeden, the dog, and Morgan. When his brother was finally moving, he turned back to retreat a few steps.

Vaarak, despite slowly gaining the mindset of an adult wolf, was still naive in some matters. He heard his brother scolding him, and glanced back at Braeden, and noticed that she indeed looked much less relaxed. He'd thought about himself rather than others this time. The dog, he could now clearly see, was trying to make up for that. While he was still staring, Balthier had started to push him back, the older actually walking halfway with him back to her. Vaarak at this time, started moving on his own and trotted back, an apologetic look upon his features, and sat next to her; the only thing that popped up in his mind that might help.

Braeden continued watching the other two wolves silently, glancing apprehensively every now and then at her friend. Then Morgan said the word 'Come', and she understood. She had heard the command many times during her life. It was never known whether the outcome of obeying would benefit or harm her, but she knew its meaning and in this instance, she believed that she would benefit from going. She nodded to him, wagging her tail in return, though still very nervous, and followed him where he and Vaarak led. Suddenly they came upon a large opening, a meadow, and there were many more wolves. She perked her ears and hackles rose, unsure of what to think of this situation. These wolves were her only hope for survival in this harsh, ungiving terrain. She could not run, but she could not hope to defend herself against all of them and live.

She stumbled and trotted nervously toward Vaarak, her tail tucked between her legs and her shoulder touching his, drawing silent reassurance from him. But suddenly they stopped, and another male moved swiftly toward them. Braeden was taken aback, and slumped toward the ground, though she took on a vicious, defensive stance. His motions slowed as Morgan began to speak to him, and she whined and grunted uncomfortably. She was about to move closer to Vaarak again, but he had moved away from them and sat beside another unknown wolf. Then she heard her name, and she felt she was to stay here and figure something out between Morgan and this other male. He spoke her name, and welcomed her briefly, simply. Braeden dipped her head, a submissive grimace upon her face, nose turned sideways and teeth showing from under the side of her lips. "Hello," she said shyly, not looking up at him as she spoke unsurely.

The small dog of tri colours followed the grouping, keeping close to Braeden, knowing she needed the comfort of familiarity around her. She seemed drawn to Vaarak, possibly because he was the first wolf she had met. He was not a frightening canine, and she drew comfort from him whether he knew it or not. But the little dog stayed closer still as Vaarak went off on his own, only to join the other wolves, which he could see made Braeden feel very uncomfortable. He stood beside her, pressing right against her foreleg. He could say nothing, but he looked up at the wolf that addressed Braeden. If he was acknowledged, he would bow his head respectfully. He understood the language, verbal and physical, better than his wolven hybrid friend, although he could speak strictly by his body language, not his voice.

Balthier appeared again near Zelda, having gone out of his way to make sure the newcomers wouldn't notice he had been nearby some of the time. At the moment, both were still near Morgan and Vaarak, Rodion trying to communicate. He looked at the others, noticing Exodus was missing, while Tom and Fran were here. He hadn't expected Link or Cinder to be up and about so soon, and probably would have eventually sent her back if they had. He questioned Zelda, "So, we're digging now?" He looked around, unconciously nodding his approval of the den site.

Vaarak had followed Morgan, making sure Braeden and the little dog were close behind. That felt wrong... the dog not having a name. Perhaps they could see if they could figure it out, or give him a new one. He saw Balthier already there and looked at Morgan, who was talking to Rodion, who, in turn, was trying to talk to Braeden. He decided he wasn't needed, and moved over to Balthier, sitting close by. It had been a while since they'd been apart for that long.

She watched Exodus off, and decided her company wasn't needed this time. Fran took a glance at the newcomers, turning away quickly. Something was off, although she didn't know what. Instincts told her to tred carefully, but none of them would know how to do that until they could determine what was wrong.

Cinder

Cinder slept a dreamless sleep and the only thing she had heard was a comforting hum. It seemed she had slept forever. Her silver eyes flitted open and she felt warm and comfortable. Her soreness was fading and there was no bleeding any longer. She lay still and kept the rhythm of her breathing she wished she could drift back into sleep but her stomach was protesting. She leaned into Link and rubber her head in his pelt before she sat up. "I need to stretch I think...and I am hungry too." she said softly afraid her voice would break whatever magic that was making her feel normal right now.

Cinder could see daylight out of the mouth of the den and she could sense that it was going to be a lovely day. She wondered how long she had slept...it felt like it had been days. Plus she had to pee something fierce and then her body tensed slightly and hoped it wouldn't hurt when she did so. She inhaled deeply and the air was full of nothing but her and Link's scent and she relaxed.

One who withholds wisdom...

Looking back to see Tom coming after her she laughed at his exuberance. His bashfulness had gone unnoticed by her so there was no need for complications. Surveying the are it looked..right for them. A new start. Too many bad thing had happened in these lands and this was a time to cleanse the land. Exodus chimed in and her dial swiveled in the fems direction. A light smile graced her features at her commentary. A part of her resented the way she had treated the young fae when she first arrived and wished to correct the matter. Letting Rodion respond to it in kind she again looked to the site. With a little work this could be very defensible and open all in one. If they perhaps built the dens closer to the trees where hills were more common they would have that then the open meadow. Watching Exodus leave just then made her sad for it again reminded her how she wronged the fem.

Taking a deep breath she knew that in time it would all correct itself. Rodion addressed her and Tom and she shrugged. This is good as any other place that we can build. Perhaps better. Then there were others who came and she watched as Morgan brought news of a timid newcomer. Eyes flicked to the fem who lay back in the shadows and giving her space she motioned for Tom to step away. She would start marking and digging the dens.

Padding over to once section she circled round it and tested the dirt, a little too hard in this section...but ah! If we move over a little it is much more malleable. Paw dragged across it a few times to loosen the dirt and with a powerful stroke she started a deeper divet.

Happy to see that she would not argue with him he snuggled closer to her. His tongue washing over her head to comfort her. Again to respond to her comment. Yes, he loved her too though right now was not the time to scrape out a scratchy remnant of the words he, before, would be able to sing out with such conviction to woo a songbird. Pleased that she was comfortable once more he tucked himself tighter against her, a content humming in his throat.

Rodion watched after Exodus with a warm gaze, sending her a low, well-meant bark, sending from a distance that he hoped for her to feel better soon. He hated to see her so sore, and knowing full well why made it all the more painful and personal. His powerful gaze scanned over everything, and his body began to tense. He was raring to dig, and every second that passed was another that dirt wasn't moved. Even though he had hoped for this to be a sort of leisurely work, it was work nonetheless, and it had to get done soon. He resumed his brisk trot with the femme's leave and found Zelda and Tom in the midst of their exploring. "Anything interesting yet, you two? I'm hoping that we can get to digging soon." His accent came cool and clear over the grass, and he knew a few others would maybe catch the words in idle auds.

Morgan nodded at Vaarak's information, looking briefly between him and the space his brother had occupied moments before. "Good to know.I worried for just a moment." His attention immediately shifted back to Braeden, who seemed rather apprehensive at his approach. He thanked Fenris for her small friend, who seemed to have the mute gift of speaking to her in a way they couldn't. When she seemed to agree, he smiled, tassel fully wagging. "Come," he spoke not in command, but in tones that suggested she follow. Motioning to Braeden's companion in thanks and Vaarak in the manner of a leader, he took to a slow trot. The Welsh caught the scent of the pack in his nares and pressed on, but no faster.

He came to them sooner than he had hoped, but realized that he had made it all the way to the meadows. His eyes had wandered behind him frequently, checking on Braeden to make sure she came along. Vaarak he knew was sure to follow. A particular scent stuck to his nose, and he followed it to find the alphen where he socialized with Zelda and Tom. There seemed to be something at work here, though what he was not yet informed of. His voice came in a submissive bark. "Rodion, a visitor. Perhaps we should take some caution with this. It would be best handled bits at a time." At first he received a confused look, but was met by a resolute and wordless grunt at the image of Braeden to his eyes. He turned to watch as the alphen pushed forward quickly, but slowed immediately, taking a tender turn to the emaciated vix before him.
"Does she speak?" He asked over his shoulder softly.
"Very little," Morgan responded. "She goes by Braeden."
"Braeden," Rodion addressed her amiably, "Welcome." They were all the words he would speak right away. he understood from the sparse information what Morgan meant by bits at a time, and he would do so with the utmost caution. His tasself wagged but remained lowered. no need for too much dominance around her. It would come off as threatening, and it was the last thing he wanted her to think of him.

Braeden perked her long, pointy auds toward Morgan as he spoke to his friend in words that didn't make sense to her, none of which she knew. She wished she could understand so she did not feel so helpless, but there was no changing the past. She had not learned language, save for a few useless words, and this was going to be a difficult challenge to overcome. The only thing that would save her now was trust and dedication, on all of their behalfs. Then, suddenly, he moved closer to her. His stance was unthreatening, but his closeness put her back on edge. She shifted away from him, ears flattening against her skull. His tone was questioning, but what did he mean? She glanced to her little friend; he always seemed to give her a little bit of understanding, or a glimmer of hope that she was doing the right thing.

The small, black-brown-and-white dog looked to Braeden, blue eyes glimmering excitedly. He nodded his head vigorously, panting as his hind end wiggled in replacement of his stub tail. He knew she could not understand the words, but he knew she trusted his judgement, and his understanding. He knew what would be good for them both. Braeden watched the knee-high dog's reaction. He seemed enthusiastic about whatever it was Morgan had said, and was nodding intently. Her brow furrowed, but she looked to Morgan, a nervous glance shot to Vaarak, then back to Morgan. She nodded her head to him, agreeing with whatever terms had been laid out before her. They seemed to be wanting to go somewhere, and kept communicating with each other. And her small friend seemed more than willing to go with them. She tried to let that be good enough reason for her to go as well. If they were to go, then she would follow...

Ooc- If you guys would like to bring her around to the pack, that's fine with me. It will be interesting to see the interaction, even I don't know what will happen yet XD

Balthier watched on, not wanting to become impatient since he didn't know the situation. Morgan talked loudly about the pack moving. He willed his brother to make eye contact with him and was quickly rewarded. Then he stepped back into the shadow of the trees after a silent exchange and some motions from his part. He wouldn't go back to the pack just yet, deciding to linger here just a bit longer. The pack wouldn't need him urgently yet, and he wanted to remain in case Morgan and Vaarak needed him to do something. It looked like the newcomer might have been a handful for one wolf to deal with somehow.

Vaarak nodded his agreement to Morgan. He watched his father figure try to get Braeden to join them with the rest of the pack before turning to the dog, still curious about him. Turning to look back towards his brother, he tilted his head until his brother accompanied his look with a few motions before the younger of the two understood. Nodding, he saw his Balthier retreating into the trees, but was curious when he didn't stray too far away.

Turning back forward, he said, "My brother wants us to know they are changing den locations right now. He didn't indicate where, though." He looked at each wolf and dog present and started to hope that Braeden would be ok with meeting the rest of the pack. It was difficult to stay in one place, but at the same time, he didn't want to unnerve her by making too much movement, especailly from her actions when he first saw her.

Exodus took his words to mind. He was right about her knowing things they didn't. The upside to have lived in a dark home. She could help this pack out, she could help ALL the packs out... And since Damean was on some kinda, alliance streak, she then wondered what Akira was going to say. If anyone was watching her, she knew the fear in her eyes was expressed on her face. She backed off, only to nod when he came closer and spoke about her having more to say. "Yes..." she said in a whisper, and then she went and sat down behind everyone. Her body still ached, and she wanted to go dip herself in cold water. That would be nice, so she stood again, and walked off, heading towards the river.

She didn't know exactly where it was, so she had to sniff it out. She kept going and going until she came to it. Then she found herself in it, before the shock of how cold it actually was hit her. Winter was here, it was coming here soon, it had to be. She smiled and stood there a while until it numbed her legs..she'd have to get out soon...

The alphen heard Exodus approach and felt himself come to an impossibly light stop, like the echo of a cello immediately dying off in a padded room. He turned, thorns pricked to immediately take in her wisdom. It did not sting him in the least to hear a suggestion to one of his faults. He exhaled through his nose and smiled back, an odd combination, but nothing unorthodox. "A well said thought, Exodus. I had wondered if just for a moment about some sort of escape route, but never gave it too much thought. Surely being experienced in these matters, as you have said, has given you some insight that perhaps few if none of us have." He recoiled his tongue for a moment, thinking on his words and hers.

Rodion took notice of the vix's presence as a whole. She had more to tell him. With each passing moment he came to feel his trust in her growing. He approached, just slightly closer, voice lowered to a more personal speaking level. "When the work is done... or some time when I can break away from the work, we can speak more. Something else is on your mind. Am I right?" Something between a fatherly and brotherly wink came to his face. He didn't want to make things too grave just yet. Absolute seriousness was something he had absolute control over, but it wasn't needed as of this very moment. Keeping a light attitude around the others would keep morale and spirits high. He knew his duties would have to kick into higher gear soon, and more responsibilities would have to be met. Food for the cold season, assessment of ranks if they really needed any changing - unlikely, though he had a few things in mind - the list went on. It made his fur bristle with excitement, but in a cool and collected way. He had to wonder what Exodus had in her head. Surely some words of good sense.

Soon... not very soon, but in good time, he had to see Cinder. He had been so concerned for her wellbeing since the moment they had met, her timid nature surprising him. And now after her ordeal, he came to realize that they had barely spoken in the after math. Perhaps it had been for the best. And Link...he at least deserved merit, though a vocal response was not to be expected. Rodion made the decision that he would do his best to see to them as soon as this first task, meeting with Exodus included, was complete. It was only right to do so.

She felt like her father sitting on the hill watching as the wolves of Midnight Meadows moved along in the forest to find a new camping ground. This was her home now, and she felt extreamly homesick, it wasn't for the wolves of Jabbar, all except one, her father. But it was for the layout of the land. It had been flat, it had been open, it had been burned so long ago that the forest had grown back twn fold and though the flatness was there, and the open was there, it was now a darker home. She missed her home, but not the darkness. She liked this place, and how the hills rose above the brush and the sunlight poured right on her back. It was a very nice touch to a very dim week.

Orbs danced with thought as she let herself stand up slowly and walk down the hill towards the gathering pack. They were finding more dens, she wanted to help with this. The pack had stopped in an enclosed somewhat area, with trees and such growth it would be kept warm in winter if they were all to rest at the same time. "If I may..." Exodus stepped forward, into his den site and smiled. "I think Fran is right, it's perfect, but, if we were to be surrounded, shall we have a nice escape. When Jabbar was burned, they were trapped in their own dens. A tree fell down and created an escape of a back door. It was a secret from the fire, a secret from everyone but us. I'm only talking future trip because I don't want to see us all trapped in the den site. We should all have an excape route." Her voice was directed towards Rodion but she looked at everyone who gathered 'round the new prospect of a den site.

She had more to say. Alot more to point out to Rodion about his duty as an alpha. She held her tongue though, she didn't want to over step her role of a member. Damean would come back, and ask Rodion where is a meeting place when the wolves came to aid the light. And he would ask if Rodion would partake in speaking with the other packs. She knew this is what Damean would do, because it was the same thing she herself would do... and she wouldn't leave the matter alone for long at all.

Morgan noticed Balthier right away, and sent him a smile, but not much else. He was going to be as simple and careful around Braeden as he could. Braeden spoke, phrasing her introduction just right. The drake offered an encouraging nod, signifying to the fae that she had spoken well. He took note of her tail moving ever so slightly, and was warmed by it. He hoped she would come to warm up to them rather quickly. He could smell Rodion and the others now, too. He looked to Vaarak, speaking up enough so Balthier could hear as well, even if he was already aware. "The pack is on the move... Perhaps we should rejoin them."

He wasn't quite sure how Vaarak would handle Braeden when it came to introductions, but he seemed to be doing well so far. He trusted the young male not quite fully yet, but enough. His gaze fell back to Braeden and he stood close, disarming, as a friend would. "Come meet our friends?" He questioned casually. Perhaps putting it this way would keep her at ease about being around more wolves. Morgan knew the pack well. They wouldn't act upon any impulse to put fear in the canine's heart. They would be kind and understanding. As for the food... they could leave it if only briefly. He would come back and take care of it later. As far as he knew, Midnight wolves weren't exactly apt to steal from others.

Belikov found himself quickly pursued by others. He noticed Zelda's kindness towards Tom and felt truly happy to see such closeness within the pack. His eyes followed her carefully as she sprinted ahead, eager and joyful. It was a nice change to see from previous dark hours. His large pads kept their steady pace, in no rush to go too far yet. He knew the whole pack didn't follow, but he was at peace with it. Some had their business. Absences could always be atoned for. Thinking of absences, his mind crossed over to Link and Cinder. Perhaps when the majority of the issue at hand was taken care of, he and Zelda could go and speak with them, offer condolences and the like, and inform them of the new denning site. Cool wind blew across his cheek as the thoughts closed. He took it as a sign that he was pondering in the right direction.

He took note of Tom once more. The old bru had taken on a look of bashfulness at Zelda's touch. Charming. He had a sort of fatherly love for her, and yet was oddly enamored of her at the same time. Rodion couldn't help a chuckle. The elder felt a burst of youth within him, it seemed, and he took off after the femme, raring to catch up with her and survey their future home. A shake of the crown, and the alphen looked to Fran with a light smirk. "Seems as if it's settled then. Unless some unorthodox majority decides to disagree." He continued to follow the easily trackable trail, feeling a bit of a flutter in his heart to aid in the creation of a new denning site.

Tom caught up surprisingly quickly with Zelda, returning the nose to her fur with a young zest. "Think you were going to lose me?" His heart pounded in his chest with the exertion, but the adrenaline in his blood allowed him to pass it as nothing. The elder's eyes shone as he came alongside the femme. He was grinning, cheeks pulled back as far as they could go. He was truely happy, though for him it wasn't quite so rare a feeling, as being an optimist had its perks.

His joints creaked just slightly, but it was to be expected. He spectulated the grass with enthusiasm and looked to the advisor. "So what do you think?" He panted, mind catching up to his body, "Is it home?" He truely hoped so. To leave earth's realm in sleep after seeing such a sky would be a great and wonderful blessing.

Cinder

Cinder held very still as Link applied the poultice to her wounds. She wasn't afraid of his touch, no never. She could never bring herself to be afraid of his touch but she could fear him never touching her again. In the recesses of her mind she still feared that once she was healed and if she was pregnant he would withdraw his attentions. Cinder sighed softly and then caught Link's look after she had spoken of him checking on Zelda and Exodus and the way he reclined as if to say "I am not going anywhere...try and make me." Cinder couldn't help but let out a slight laugh and shook her head in surrender and gratitude. She leaned back into him and sighed. The pain was dulled by the poultice that was applied and her silver eyes grew more bright since the pain was not as intense.

"Link." she said and then a great silence hung in the air. She was almost afraid to say the words, but it didn't matter because she would always feel this way. She licked her lips and lay her head on his shoulder. "I love you Link...." she said softly her voice wrought with emotion. Full of the love she felt for Link and full of the sheer hate she felt for Legend. Cinder rubbed her head on his pelt and then settled herself, closing her eyes she sighed once more and sleep crept upon her.

One who withholds wisdom...

Zelda rose up and followed behind Rodion as he suggested they get to work on the dens. Stopping she smiled at Tom and felt for the bru. He was at an age when he was not able to do much and Zelda flinched from the idea. When Rodion kindly suggested that Tom stayed out of it she gave him a sympathetic smile. Though it brightened into a genuine one when he suggested the the meadows. "Now thats an idea." She said happily. On the edges the copse of trees where hilly enough and perhaps there were some natural hills that they could dig into. Though in the winter months they may have to move into a more sheltered area. The thought of it was splendid.

Looking at Fran she nodded her head. "Come, we will go look." Then pressing her nose into Tom's coat and throwing him a smile with a burst of energy she trotted forward heading towards one of the medium sized meadows to assess it.

Moving easily he helped her apply the poultice doing so with extreme gentleness. Once that was finished he looked at her and leaning forward dragged his tongue across her face in a sort of puppyish manner. Then nuzzled her, pressing her close to him. She had suggested that he leave and go check on Zelda and Exodus. No, they were fine. If they weren't Link would know. Looking her sternly in the eye he shook his dial indicating that he was no leaving anytime soon. To further the point he reclined back making himself quite comfortable.

((Nooo! Mah post is gone... ...this is a shorter version...))
Balthier stopped when he'd be just barely visible to his brother and friend. He didn't go any further, because he wondered what would take so long to greet two newcomers. He watched wht body language he could see from his current position, and noticed the female was on edge. He mainly wondered about thiis, because most wolves knew what they were getting themselves into when approaching a pack.

Vaarak noticed Balthier's scent and turned to just see his form watching them. Then he glanced back to Braeden, smiling when she said her name, nodding in encouragement. He looked to Morgan, unsure if she'd be able to deal with meeting the rest of the pack at once when it came time to bring her with them.

Fran was in thought when Rodion started to walk, so he was folowing some distance behind. When Tom mentioned locating the dens at the meadows, she voiced, "I like that idea. In my home, we slept under the shadow of the trees surrounding us. I haven't seen stars right before falling asleep before. It would take a while for me to be accustomed, but it'd be a nice change." She smiled. Even on her travels, by habit, she'd find a tree whos tangled roots were visible that were just large enough for a wolf her build to fit under. The trees offered protection even if she was a light sleeper and would just wake up at the slightest danger anyways.

Braeden stood awkwardly, her back arched and tail tucked, near Vaarak but with an anxious distance between him and herself. She was nervous about everything. And she was just waiting to see what would happen next. Then Morgan spoke to her, and her tall ears swivelled towards him. He was asking her name, and she tried very hard to pick apart his speech to understand which word had been his name. It was quite obvious that he called himself Morgan. "I'm... Braeden," she said, unsure if she had spoken right. She hoped she hadn't sounded like an idiot, not knowing what she was saying. She glanced to her small friend, who stood closer to her than any other canine. He merely nodded, and she allowed the tip of her tassel to sway. Suddenly she wondered what his name was, but she knew she could never know it by his own lips; would they require that he have a name? She glanced to the other wolves, but figured they would handle it later.

Cinder

Cinder felt the reassuring touch that Link had given her and it settled her back into his pelt. His nose pointed in a direction to answer her question as she saw the pile of herbs. She grimaced but she knew this had to be done to prevent infection. She looked up at Link and said with a soft voice "Will you help me?" She couldn't apply the poulitce where it was needed, she would need help for that. She sighed and shifted forward a bit so Link could escape her easier. The little sleep she did get was helpful. She had to move on..she had to stop thinking about how Legend hurt her and how his hot breath felt on the back of her neck.

Her body was sore but time would heal that. She had to show Link she was brave and strong, for his sake and for hers. The scent of her heat was but a subtle reminder now. A faint whisp of perfume now and again, a tease, a temptation and future promise. Cinder went quite for a moment. She held her breath as she thought of the prospect of pups with the filth that took her. If only they were Link's she would rejoice to the heavens. But that couldn't be...not now. Maybe he would help her live the fantasy in her mind when she was well enough. Maybe she could seduce him even if she was out of heat and make her brain think that the pups on the way were Link's not Legends. She exhaled.

Her stomach then growled in protest, demanding and loud. She still felt like wretching but her stomach had other plans. She rubbed her head on Link. She still felt so dirty....unclean. She licked her lips and looked up at Link lovingly. She knew he worried after Zelda. "It's okay Link. I should be okay. I worry after Zelda too and Exodus. Maybe you should go and check on things." She said calmly when her irrational heart was screaming protest.

Morgan looked over Braeden's weak form and Vaarak's anxious, waiting one. "One of us should get back to the pack. They need to know she is here." While trying to pull his thoughts into a conclusion of some kind, he came to realize that he had not told the emaciated fae his name, nor had he learned hers. With a kind smile he looked to her in welcome and faint curiosity. "I'm Morgan. What is your name?"

Yes, soon they would be needed with the others. He had the feeling they had missed something rather important. His nares caught a familiar scent on the wind. A friend of his coming their way. It was still vague enough for him to not make it out right away. Balthier probably. He would have notified Vaarak about it, were it not for his occupation with a so far unanswered question.

Rodion really had nothing more to tell. The meeting had sort of adjourned itself, but there was still the matter of relocating the dens. His kingly head rose to look at the others who remained. His voice lowered a bit from its official tone to one of friendly suggestion. "Any able paws willing to help me and Zelda to dig the new dens would be most welcome. Those who come would be active in choosing an area we can all agree on." His face held a sort of half smile as he gazed out at his members. "Perhaps I can get to know all of you better on our way out." With a nod he stood, glanced at Zelda with that expression of friendship he had reserved for her, and started off into the terra. Anyone who caught up with him soon would be able to give a suggestion, and they would turn in whichever way their whim suggested. He couldn't decide for them where the dens would go. This was really their home. He was just there to keep them in line.

His pads had barely taken him a few steps when Tom caught up with him. He offered up a friendly smile, but noticed the way the elder tried to keep pace. He wouldn't bring it up though, out of plain respect. "Tom. I'm guessing you've got a suggestion for me?" His eyes wandered over the healthy but aging form with concern. He was displeased with the words that came to them.

"I'm ready and willing to help with the dens if you'll have me. I mean... as much as I can do."

Rodion winced inwardly and gave another, more difficult smile. He hated going back on his word, but it had to be done. He stopped where he was. The others could catch him this way, and he could make his point clearer. "No. I'm sorry. Please don't take any offense by my words, but... I see how you've been lagging behind the others. I fear you may get too exhausted. This is a big job, Tom."

The elder hessian bit his lip, nodding. "It's alright, I understand. Maybe... just helping you find a good place to start, then?" Tom wasn't one to take offense to much, and this younger, stronger wolf was right. He'd been a fool to think he could do much about the digging.

The alphen breathed a sigh of relief. He was so glad he took it well. "Absolutely. Where, then, do you think would be a good place to settle?"

"I was thinking somewhere closer to the meadows. Wouldn't it be something to fall asleep to those stars every night?" He had a sort of reminiscent smile on his face. It would be nice.

"Duely noted, friend," He made a point of addressing Tom as such, "I think it would be a wonderful pleasure. I'll take the others' opinions and see if we'll reach a consensus."He remained where he was and let the others catch up. He would wait for their suggestions and continue from there.

Nodding to Balthier he did not need to be told to take care of her but he did not take offense to it. He was a well meaning wolf and Link appreaciated his presence in the pack. Watching him take his leave he put his head back down thoughts pooling in his mind. He hoped to surprise Cinder with his voice but it was so...hard. Even the small statement came as a struggle and the lining of his throat burned with the effort. Then Cinder stirred, perhaps in reaction to his own stirrings and he touched his nose to her pelt when she inquired for him. Reassuring her that he was still very much there.

When she asked what Balthier wanted he knew that she had not heard him speak and he indicated some herbs.Perhaps now she would be well enough to apply some of them. When she asked if he needed to go he shook his head indicating that no he didn't. Zelda was fine though he worried after her. He was not used to so much time apart from her.

Licking Cinder's face he smiled. He wasn't going anywhere for a long while.

Cinder

The warm darkness seemed to cradle her like a whelp, protecting her from harm. She sighed full of contentment when his body tightened around her own and then relaxed. Her breathing was steady and even and she only shifted slightly when Balthier's scent came to her tiny nose. A light grew in her darkness and her deepened sleep began to drift to dream. Cinder had never been afraid to dream before so she wasn't afraid when she found herself in a field of lavander.

The purple flowers shifted to and fro gently in the breeze. The air smelled heavenly. She walked along her body healed and whole, her coat casting a silver hue similar to her eyes. She smiled softly and looked above. Gulls soared lazily upon the air currents. Funny? She thought. I must be near the sea. She let her nose search the perfumed air and she caught Link's scent. A warm feeling rushed over her and she followed it. There he stood amongst the flowers, smiling at her and then his maw opened and his voice came forth as a whisper.

At the sound of Link's voice her eyes fluttered open. "Link?" she breathed and her hurts throbbing anew. It was a dream it had to be. Silver eyes saw Balthier's shadow at the mouth of the den moving away. She swallowed and licked her nose. A sadness befell her that her dream wasn't true. That Link's voice hadn't returned. She rubbed her head on his shoulder and sighed, leaning into him. Her gaze was still a bit unfocused from sleep. It was such a beautiful dream. "What did Balthier want?" she asked softly and then her thoughts turned to Zelda. "Do you need to go?" she asked, fear evident in her voice but she was trying to be brave. She was afraid to be away from Link now, her protector, her love. Her mind told her she was safe, she was in her own packlands. Her heart screamed fear at her because of what Legend had done to her in their own lands. She held back the tremor that threatened her. She cannot let him win. He took her in the most violating way possible but he will never own her. NEVER. She lay her head on Link's leg and gave it a soft kiss, hoping Zelda didn't need him and he would stay.

Balthier saw Link curl himself tighter around Cinder for the briefest of moments, but quickly remembered that he was probably acting on instinct. He thought about the pack in general and the support they gave each other. Now, he was assured that he had brought his brother to a good pack. He heard Link's voice, hoarse from misuse, thanking him. Now this surprised him, although he didn't express it. He was even able to detect gratitude in the tone, something that wouldn't be expected of someone just getting their voice back, if only a little. Then he saw a head shake to his last question. Smirking, he said softly, "It's no problem to take care one of my packmates." He started to turn to leave, but added, "It's not my standard protocol, but under the current situation, I won't return as a healer to check Cinder's healing progress until she feels comfortable or one of her wounds act up. ...Plus, one of these days, I can take a quick look at your throat if you haven't had someone look already... if you want." Then he turned to walk away, saying over his shoulder, "Take care of her, Link." He silently left without another word. For him, it appeared as if they either loved or cared deeply for one another. For once, he would bite his healer instincts in the leg, trusting that he was doing the right thing by deciding not to check on Cinder for what could be a quite a while.

He strode in the direction of Vaarak's howl a while ago, deciding he was free to now. Even with Morgan there, anything could happen between then and now. He wasn't overbearingly worried, but he did want to make sure his little brother was ok. Thinking back, Balthier remmebered saying to explore, but clearly he hadn't thought the younger could decide to interpret that as practicing scouting on his own, or at least, he was probably alone at first. Morgan is, at at least was, with him by the information carried by the howl. He figured they were near the border, and he still had a bit of distance until he would get there.

When she came to him he was taken off guard a but about how much she wanted his touch. Surely male attention wasn't on the top of her list at the moment. But she seemed to find peace in his fur and in all honesty Link felt better for it. At the end of all of this she was still his. Nor did he mind when she rubbed near his wound for the pain of it had long ago passed.

Curling himself tightly around her he willed all his comfort into her. He was pleased that soon enough she seemed to drift off and unlike before there were no spastic or distresssing movements in her sleep. Stopping his lullaby when he was sure that she was completely in the dream field. Sleep did not come but cerulean hues lingered on the soft features of the precious one next to him. How horrible that something like this could happen to her. It wasn't fair.

Aud flicked and he turned his dial to see Balthier at the den offering them some herbs for treatment. Instinctively he curled tighter around Cinder but relaxed knowing that if he continued to do so it might wake her. Nodding to Balthier he seemed to be struggling with something then finally his maw opened and a dry a cracked whisper, just barely audible came from his muzzle. "Thank you..." It hurt to drag it out of his injured throat but in that small gesture it said so much of how grateful he was to Balthier. When asked if he needed something more he shook his head. Noting that he would personally bring the left over to Exodus.

Morgan had answered that this wasn't quite a common event to occur, which made Vaarak wonder why he happened to be ever so lucky on his first scout... or at least, unofficial one. Zelda hadn't told him to- he had just been exploring like his brother suggested, although Balthier probably hadn't meant for him to really scout yet, just get used to the terrain of the land and gather his bearings. Hopefully his father figure was correct and a situation like this wouldn't come up any time soon, since he probably wouldn't fair any better than now.

He looked between the two; As Morgan approached her, Braeden seemed to shy away, confused even with Morgan's little bit of speech. Clearly, the smaller dog understood, though, and seemed to be trying to help her. He wondered if Morgan understood why she was acting like this, or if anyone else in the pack would. He had his fair amount of encounters with various oddities that weren't from wolves, but this was different.

Braeden was still watching them, noticing when they shifted closer to each other, muttering lowly to each other. What could they be talking about? Her anxiety grew further, wondering what they were planning as they glanced to her. She began pacing back and forth slowly, watching them. She froze in place as Morgan made inches toward her, her weakened muscles tense but in no condition to fight. She took several paces back, hackles up and tail between her legs; she still was unsure about trusting these larger canines. It was easy to accept her smaller friend, for he was no threat to her, and never had been. But these wolves... they seemed so strong, so intelligent, the way they said this or that and knew exactly what it meant. Her communicative skills were entirely lacking, and she found their abilities to speak to one another quite intimidating, especially when she did not understand.

But she tried to pay attention to him as he spoke. His ears were back and his tail offered a friendly wave, gestures that she knew were not threatening. Her tall ears pointed toward him, head canting to the side. She tried to piece together what he was saying, but it was extremely difficult; all she understood was 'more food' and 'help'. Her eyes narrowed; did he mean there was more food than this? Or he would help her get more food? She sat down, contemplating what he meant. Then she saw her friend come up beside Morgan, and he flicked his nose as though to beckon her away from the meat. Clearly he had been listening, and to him it seemed these two wolves needed to be somewhere; Braeden needed to come soon or she would be spending some time alone. But could she really trust them? Huffing indecisively, she rose to all fours and stepped off the carcass, looking to Morgan, then to Vaarak.

For whatever reason she was being beckoned away from the food, she would follow. She had put her trust in them thus far, and they were her only chance for survival. Now that she thought about it, when the deer meat ran out, she would once again be left helpless if she had nobody else to help her. She needed to stay with these wolves and hope that they meant only good upon her, not harm.

Morgan found it terribly odd, almost disturbing, that Braden couldn't communicate. And he wished that they could do so better. He figured being a sort of ambassador to her would make for a good use of time. As Vaarak's words reached his ears, he attempted not to smile. A slow nod moved his head up and down, taking the words in simple understanding. "Perhaps learning on the job is the best way to gain the experience. Don't worry. This situation seems to be a quite unorthodox one. I don't think we'll be having a repeat of it any time soon." His voice was low and close as he spoke, but he kept a careful eye on the hybrid as she moved. Clearly this was something gained in a different life. So far as he knew, there were no wolves around here so vicious as to steal food.

He approached with severe caution, pads only carrying him inches forward. His ears went back just slightly and his tail wagged. The bru had no intention of letting her think he was there to do harm. He tried the same method he had found effective before, a clear and concise sentence with a smile. "We hide it," he spoke as though offering an explanation to her troubling predicament. "More food for later." Morgan could only hope his inherent kindness would reach her the right way. The phrasing was short, but he had a feeling she wasn't stupid. He gave Vaarak a glance and looked back to the satiated fae. "We'll help." He knew they would have to be quick if she took his offer. Rodion's howl hadn't been for nothing, and they would have to go to him soon, with or without Braeden.
