FINAL GOODBYE

There had been much trouble on the wind of late, he felt it in his bones, heard the crows murmur their rumors of what was to come. Those in his pack had approached him about it with their own concerns and much of his thoughts were taken up by it. Their pack was not the smallest but they had little defense if something were to come upon them.
As the season fell away Nuri knew that something had to be done to ensure the safety of his pack. And so it was that one day a howl rippled through the territory, his ears twitched and he deemed himself close enough to be the one to answer. There he found the leader of Midnight Meadows and there they discussed many thing about their alliance. So it was thus that for the coming weeks couriers had come and gone between Tirisfal Valley and Midnight Meadows. He himself had made the journey twice to continue their alliance talks. Even as they spoke it became painfully aware to both packs that their problems could not be solved with their few numbers, there was too much land, too many gaps in the security. So it came about that these alliance talks turned into something greater. Spurred by years of kinship and mutual affection it became clear to the pure packs the best way to keep their family safe and protected was to become no longer just an alliance, but a larger stronger pack.  Once it was put to the wolves and there were little disagreement preparations started in earnest. They would need to set up new sites, mark new lines, sort out the ranks in the pack. This is where most the problems lay but as they were wolves they would figure it out soon enough.
It was then on a final starry evening Nuri Bade gathered the wolves of Tirisfal Valley, looked over his small band of characters with pride and smiled gently. "Today will become something greater, something better than what we were, for our pups and the safety of our pack we will unite with Midnight Meadows. We are no longer those wolves, we will join under the pack name Tirisfal Meadows and we will thrive. It will be a change, yes, but I believe that it will bring us greater prosperity and peace." He barked a joyous noise and then threw his head back and sang to the sky, not in sadness of leaving the past behind, but a triumphant howl sent to the stars to celebrate this momentous day. "Come, now we must go."
He turned away, his black body streaked with gray of age and into the forest. He knew just the path they would take to meet their new family.

((I'm just going to post Balthier here without waiting for a response to make it easier for us to get our bearings with where all the wolves are when the transition happens))

Balthier strode through the terrain. This place was similar, yet different than the lands that were his home- his first long-term home. His birth lands didn't count. Where there was mostly grass, here had more trees. Not many of the wolves knew of his absence, although he was sure it was now noticed. Link, Cinder, and Fran are aware of his movements, and they'd be able to handle the pack for the, hopefully, brief time he'd be here.

This was... peculiar for him, though. Announcing his presence. He'd had to stop himself from crossing into these lands, all too used to sneaking around. There was a pack to think about, a brother. His intentions were pure with this pack, and he'd portray himself as such. For his pack, for his brother.

He lifted his maw, a howl carrying into the heart of the lands this pack resided in. A humble request to seek audience with the alpha.

It was quiet here... perhaps a bit too much so. Not ominous like the moments he'd stared at those dark mountains of Muerta, which always stirred up nervous energy. It was quiet here, nevertheless. For better or for worse wasn't his priority, at the moment. He settled himself down under the shade of a tree, knowing he could be waiting for any amount of time.

He was already getting restless after taking a short nap. Softly growling at nothing in particular, he limped towards the front of the den and peered out, settling down on the dirt. There was no way he'd let anyone tease him about not listening to his own advice. From his vantage point, he could just see the rest of the pack, or at least, what he imagined them doing.

It was true Bright had told him to stay until he went "stir crazy," but the problem as he was a wolf accustomed to traveling, so just being stuck in a den by default brought him to the brink of crazy. He huffed as he looked at the sky, debating whether to resort to finding shapes in the clouds above. He couldn't sleep anymore, and he was so tempted to sneak out... but knowing some of the smarter members of the pack, they'd send someone to check in on him to make sure he didn't.

A younger him would be amused to stir up such a ruckus- it was even slightly appealing to him in the present if only to have something
to do and look forward to. He guessed he might as well take the time to think about the needs in the pack. Their healing stores were quite empty, so they had to work extra hard to ensure their stocks stayed plentiful for the winter.

Robin smiled at his daughter, hoping it would ease her concern. "Don't fret, Jewel," he said, nudging her in affection. "Everyone's all right. In fact, the pups are doing better than ever. They're really growing, and can open their eyes now. Your mother is very healthy." He paused, noticed that she was gathering wildflowers in the meadow, and began to assist her in collecting. While he was not a healer himself, he had picked up a few things from Alaina. "Your mother is doing so well, in fact, that we've considered leaving Tirisfal Valley..."

Robin paused again, and now looked his daughter in her two-toned eyes. "It's up to you if you want to come with us or not. We fully respect your decision to stay here, if that is what you wish. You are flourishing here, and your mother and I want the best future for you. I also understand if you might be upset. However, know that if you choose to stay, you would carry your mother and I's pack position as Delta."

Jewel looked up hearing her father's words. Her ears perked and her two toned eyes blinked and she tilted her head curiously. "No...I'm not busy. Is everything alright dad?" She asked suddenly worried there was something wrong with mother or her new pups. She looked at him and nodded. "What would you wish to speak of?" she said slight worry in her tone. She hoped no one had fallen ill again. With her mother out and doctor laid up it made the burden fall to her since she had been trained in some healing arts. She didn't feel it was her calling in life but it was her duty so she learned and pressed on without fail.

PostSubject: Re: Virtuous hearts; Tirisfal Valley   Virtuous hearts; Tirisfal Valley Icon_minitimeSat May 23, 2015 2:52 pm

She had become distracted by all the wolves muttering about, the young fae’s mind now wandering to heavier things. Her amber gaze shifted over her father’s form, catching his his fur shifted with each stance. This caused her to flick her orbs over her own frame, longingly wondering what her mother’s fur must’ve looked like. Elysia watched silently, shifted between each wolf around. She began to wonder what the history of the land was, what had happened before that crazy stampede, and more importantly what was to come. Yes, they were going to hunt, but what after? There seemed to be a lot of problems, and all she wanted to do was help everyone at once. She wasn’t phased much by her sister’s actions either, the good nature of her heart refusing to let any of them separate, Esa and Haru were the only two she felt the most comfortable with. They had gone through a lot together in such a short time, and frankly they were the only two who played with her.

The studious young woman looked over to Nuri again, hearing his playful tune, it caused Ely to smile in turn. This giddiness was short lived when she heard and then spotted Serenity’s gaze, amber orbs following his own to the far off mountain top. This caused her to wonder how big the lands were, but that was cut off by the old man’s bowed crania. And the ever changing attention continued, with the arrival of Bright Moon, bringing warmth to the area. Talking about new pups! This brought the giddiness back, new pups meant new friends. Elysia’s gaze flicked over to Haru, smiling upon seeing the hessian’s joy of seeing his mother. Everything happened quickly after that, Bright reporting to Nuri, and then readying all of them for a hunt. Elysia scrunched her nose as Haru flicked her with his tassel, yipping and chancing after the drake, attempting to nip his tail.

Elysia slowed her pace however, glancing back to catch a glimpse of her father. She wanted to speak with him, but they had a duty, Ely reminded herself, and that came first. The fae nipped Haru on the rump before racing ahead to come along side Esarosa. “Bright, what are we hunting?” Elysia asked, wandering what they would be getting for the pack.

Robin spotted his daughter out of the corner of his eye. "Jewel," he woofed, and galloped over to her. He had news to share, but he could not shake the hesitation from his heart. What if Jewel did not want to come? The journey would be much harder without her... but, if she did stay, maybe it was a sign. He wasn't sure. "Are you busy? Would you mind if I joined you?" he asked, noticing that she stood near the edge of the pack, as if she were about to go somewhere. "There are some things I wish to discuss with you."

Jewel came to the edges of the pack and sat waiting. Her parents new offspring were a wonderful addition to the pack. There was plenty of young ones for the pack to grow strong again. She should  be grateful for that at the very least. Doctor was healing up nicely. Things were good in the pack. Then why did she feel so restless. So alone. She reassured herself that her brother's disappearance was normal. He was a young male. They often left their home packs to find and establish packs of their own. It was the way things were. The circumstances were just mooseshit though.

A soft sigh echoed from her as she thought of what plants would be ready for harvest soon. They would need to store some away for winter's cold and that would keep her busy. Her mother was too busy to take that task so, like a good daughter, Jewel would do it on her own. All must pull together. She would put her efforts into her family to keep them healthy.

Virtuous hearts; Tirisfal Valley Empty
PostSubject: Re: Virtuous hearts; Tirisfal Valley   Virtuous hearts; Tirisfal Valley Icon_minitimeTue Feb 24, 2015 9:50 am

To begin anew.

The feeling welled up inside Robin's chest, hearing the slumbering sounds of his wife and newborn children within the den. After so long, it felt so refreshing to start over. By no means was their first litter together a mistake - no, not at all, as they were fortunate to have the blessing that Jewel was - however, Robin knew that when spring came and the pups could walk and talk, that something would have to change. The lands of Tirisfal, he knew, were some of the safest in the country, but their numbers were dwindling while Muerta's swelled with darkness. He wasn't sure what it was that gave him this inclination, like the feeling he often got moments before a storm. Perhaps it was instinct, or perhaps he missed the comfort of his blood family. He hadn't seen them in years, and had promised that he would return with stories of adventure. He couldn't help but smile at this. What would they say when he came with a wife and children in tow?

Robin ducked his head into the den, briefly. "I will return. I must speak with Nuri," he said to Ali, who simply mumbled in response. Before departing, he surveyed the surrounding landscape for potential enemies - bears, lions, other wolves - and when he saw no danger, he trudged up the hill and over the stream to the High Dens. He spotted Nuri, but did not approach him right away, as he appeared to be headed into private conversation with another wolf, one he did not recognize. That made him feel better, if ever-so-slightly. Tirisfal would continue to grow in his absence - yes, yes it would. Robin came up to Serenity's side, who gazed on at the romping pups before them with an amused nostalgia.

"You're leaving?" Serenity said before Robin could speak. The elder chuckled. "Don't look so guilty, son. It's only expected of you at this time. You want to keep your family safe. What safer place than by the pack that raised you? Everyone wants to return to their roots at some point in their life to plant their seeds in the garden."

Robin nodded and sat back on his haunches next to him. While Serenity's eyes were on the children, his were on the woods, yet again scanning them for potential predators. How had he never noticed how dark and looming the forest could be, even as the sun shone and struck the bright snow? "I think it's time. It just... feels right," Robin replied. "We won't leave until the snow melts and the pups are able to move about and eat meat. It will make the journey easier."

Serenity nodded. "That would be wise. A journey so young could be difficult for them. I hope you understand the risks," he responded. "My own family took me and my brother on a journey when we were very young... It changed our lives forever... But I digress. You do not want to hear about an old man's troubles. You have a dream that you must pursue and a family you must provide for. So, go to them. Protect them from winter's harshness and whatever darkness it brings in the night. Fenrir bless you."

"Thank you," Robin said, yearning to ask about what tales the elder had, but also knew he was right. He had to get back to his family. He would spend time with them while he could. Walking back to the den, he knew that he would also have to tell Jewel. Would she want to come with them? Or would she want to stay? He would have to talk to her, in addition to Nuri. Perhaps they could work something out. Jewel still needed a role within the pack, and Robin had a fair idea of what that would be. He would make a suggestion of it.

Nuri's attention instantly snapped to the prettty she wolf coming to them through the trees. It was the first he had seen of the other half of his pack in a long while and he walked to greet her, his tail wagging anxiously. He whined and sniffed her face when she was near, ending with an affectionate lick on her muzzle. His looked at her eagerly for the news of the others. She reported everything he wanted to know and he smiled at the news of Ali's pups. It seemed that her and Robin were still as close as ever and for a moment his heart ached and he thought of Silent Snowfall. "Yes, I will have to go see them. I am glad Doctor is well, I'm sure he doesn't make a good patient." Nuri chuckled knowing that the other wolf was probably giving his helpers a hard time because he couldn't help himself. He nodded seriously to her when she spoke of food, yes they would have to gather something in abundance, especially something for Ali. His ears flicked as Kaya came forward to introduce herself. He again noticed her injury and felt bad he had no offered aid sooner. The wound would need to be cleaned  but it looked mostly like she needed the rest. Pleased that she was now introduced he was going to explain to Bright that there had been a small hunting party already planned but before he knew it she was taking charge of the situation and gathering the pups up. Excellent, now he could tend to the members of his pack, he was anxious to see Doctor whom he had last seen injured and down by the stampede.

Looking at Kaya he woofed gently. "We need to get you cleaned up and a nice den to rest in, then you can meet the rest of the pack sometime soon. You'll get a chance to meet Ali later, I would not have a stranger around her dens after she has just birthed pups." And then almost to himself he said "These mothers can be unpredictable, likely to bite the noes of their own mate off." Clearing his throat he threw a look back towards Serenity. "Join them would you old man? Make sure they stay out of trouble." He said it in a friendly manner, Nuri was no spring chicken himself these days. \\

With that he looked back at Kaya "Come, we will walk slow. It will be a bit of a shock but i'll take you to the lake where you can drink and wash your coat." He figured they would head a steady trail downhill and skirt the low dens where their ultimate destination would be. Serenity lake was a short walk from the dens anyways, well sheltered against the elements. He started off, keeping a slow pace and headed through the trees. Even now, despite his attitude earlier,Serenity's words echoed in his head. There was always a bad wind from Muerta but perhaps the ache in his bones had nothing to do with age at all.

She had been so focused on getting things done, that Bright had completely forgotten to introduce herself to the new she-wolf standing amongst the familiar group. Feeling her cheeks flush hot, she dipped her head to the wolfess as she introduced herself as Kaya. "Hello, Kaya, it's nice to meet you," she said, wagging her tail, "My name is Bright Moon, but you may call me Bright." She smiled to the fae who seemed somewhat shy, but also noticed that Kaya was beginning to shiver, and the fur upon her shoulder seemed ruffled and out of place, with some dry blood spiking the fur up in places. Wondering what could have happened, she tilted her head - she wasn't going to pry, but it was clear the fae would be needing attention soon, and needed to get to the dens so she could curl up where it was warm. The chilling winds cutting through the valley now didn't help. Bright turned to the older wolves. "Let me take over with these three," she said, nodding her head to Ely, Esa and Haru, "It looks like Kaya could use some rest up at the dens. But don't let Doctor go running around trying to tend to everything - he must rest as well. Our youngsters here will get things taken care of." Now that they were growing and becoming more capable, their packmates would begin to depend on them more and more, especially as some members grew older, some were injured and others tended to newborns. Their youthful vitality was needed more than ever, especially as the season grew colder.

"Let's go, you three," she realized she was rushing, but she could feel her desire to help those in need pulling at her heart strings. She wished she could be everywhere at once, feeding the pack and tending to them, but she had to focus on what she could do here and now. The best she could do was mentor the young ones so that they could find their places in the pack. Hoping she hadn't seemed too demanding with the senior wolves, she bounded off, letting the scents on the wind flood her nares. Instantly she picked up the damp, salty scent of salmon rising from the river that spread across the valley - further upstream where the waters grew shallower at Okura Falls, the fish would be breeding. Glad for the current season, she knew this would be a great opportunity for the young ones to practice snatching up prey where it was plentiful. Only one thing worried her, and that would be the presence of bears in the territory...

--------------------------

Esa turned her head away, not knowing how to take the praise that Kaya offered, but wagging her jet black tail in response. Then the new she-wolf asked what they woudl be hunting, and it made her flick her ears. She wasn't really too sure what they would be going after. If they were going to compete separately to see who could catch the best prey, then they may all find only small animals. She wondered if they'd be able to hunt anything bigger at this point. Before she could answer Kaya, Bright Moon arrived, seemingly in a bit of a hurry. Now she wanted to take them out hunting, not only for the pups, but for Doctor as well. Then Bright pointed out that Kaya was in need of rest as well, and Esa noticed the way she limped closer to the group and held herself at a strange angle. Suddenly Esa felt a little nervous knowing that the pack was in need of feeding, and she and her siblings were going to make sure they were fed. She wasn't so sure she could find the best and biggest prey now, but she wasn't going to show it. Instead, she waved her tail into the air and followed Bright, tilting her nose to the air in an attempt to find any scents, but not knowing yet what to look for...

Haru looked up as his mother appeared, smiling at her as she stated what was going on. Before he knew it, they were being rushed off to go hunt for the pack. This was to be a lesson, but not just that, the pack was really depending on them right now. He gulped nervously, but was determined to do his best. Worries from their game of tag earlier dissipated as a real sense of duty and desire to succeed flooded over him. He glanced to Elysia, wondering how she felt about this. As long as they all worked together and followed instructions, they should be able to succeed - right? He looked to Kaya again. "We'll catch something filling for everyone!" he assured her with a happy yip. Flicking Elysia with his tail, he raced away after Bright, ready to proceed with the lesson and bring back something for everybody.

Kaya smiled as the pups greeted her warmly, though one of them seemed a little awkward. It seemed that this pack would be right for her. She listened to the pups as they spoke, telling of going hunting for it seem that there were newborn pups in the pack. "It is nice to meet you, Haru, Esa and Elyisa. That's good, I think you three going hunting to bring food for the pups is a good idea and will help out greatly. " she said, fondly remembering the times teaching pups to hunt in her old pack.

Now feeling slightly more relaxed, Kaya limped closer to the pups and sat down slowly, taking care to try and avoid aggravating her extremely sore shoulder and reopening the wound. Dried blood stained her fur in the area of the injury. Once seated, she looked at the pups and said "So what you are you going to try and catch then?" She was curious to know as from the looks of the three pups, they were old enough to be able to catch small prey now. Kaya was so wrapped up interacting with the pups, that she failed to noticed that a third adult wolf had now joined the group.

It was only when the wolf spoke that Kaya realised that she was there. She bowed in submission to the new wolf and said "Hello, I'm Kaya. Pleased to meet you." Kaya was starting to shiver again by this point, from a combination of cold and exhaustion.

Bright chuckled at his comment about healers making for awful patients. It seemed it was true, and well-known if you'd ever spent the time around one. When he asked of the pups, she flicked her ears. She hadn't seen them in some time either, though she knew they were well. They were with some of the most competent wolves of the pack. Still, she felt a pang of worry beginning to grow, having not tended to them in a while. She was glad to help Doctor, but she would also be glad when they made it to the dens so she would have a chance to take off and find the location of her charges. "I'm sure they are well, they are with Nuri after all," she said, trying to sound confident but her voice came out softly with a waver of uncertainty.

When they reached the dens, she felt some relief flood over her. Doctor would be able to rest now and give his injuries a chance to heal. She realized he was a very caring wolf, one who would put himself on the back burner to see to the rest of the pack before caring for himself. Bright paused, and allowed Doctor to gain his balance onto his own paws so that he could make his way to his resting place. "Alright, it's time for you to rest up," she said, forcing assertiveness into her voice, "You must sleep, and rest until you are stir-crazy. Don't do anything strenuous!" The motherly tone came out in her, and she gave him a look through silver orbs that said she'd be watching. "Just send for me should anything happen, I will help you," she affirmed, smiling softly at him, "I must see to the pups now. I will have them hunt, and give them their lessons. Whatever they catch will come this way. For now, you must sleep." She nodded to Doctor, seeing that he was capable to get himself into the den and comfortable before taking her leave.

She bounded away, her black-tipped, silver tail flitting in the cool wind behind her. As she raced along, her eyes peered through the trees, noticing the changing of the leaves, until she came to the open plains, where the tall grass was pale and growing more frail as the season grew colder. Breaking into the clearing, she could see the group moving along slowly; Nuri, Serenity, the younglings and an unfamiliar wolf amongst them. Glad to see the wolves were all okay, Bright raced toward them with growing enthusiasm. She came towards them at a high pace, but slowed before reaching them, her tail waving in the air. "Glad to see you're all doing well," she announced, her eyes squinting shut gleefully, and she glanced over to Nuri, "The pack is faring well. Ali has borne new whelps, Robin is tending to her, as is Jewel. Doctor has sustained some injuries from the stampede, but with Jewel's help is doing well and is now resting at the dens." She glanced to the pups then, seeing that they were occupied with greeting the new fae. Yet still, there were tasks to be done, and they needed doing soon. "We will need a good food supply very quickly," Bright said to Nuri, then turned her attention on the youngsters who were growing well, "I think it would be great if we could feed the pack after a good hunting lesson."

As they started to leave, Doctor took note of how she stuck to his side in case he needed a crutch and listened to her words.

"I see you do know healers tend to make the worst patients," he said in amusement. Although his injuries would put a damper on his movements. Confinement didn't suit him well, although he could get away with minimal movement after his sprained leg healed. Immobilizing the broken one wouldn't be too difficult, but he had a feeling some members of the pack wouldn't approve.

"Are your own pups doing well currently? I've caught glimpses of them before the stampede, but not since." He knew the adults could take care of themselves, even if all of the pack's healers had been gathered by Ali's den. Pups, although more transparent in how they're feeling, wouldn't show they had an injury if they didn't feel it. It was more fatal for a pup to inadvertently hide an injury than an adult. He did feel better as they drew closer to the dens, knowing he'd be able to have the rest of the pack in his view. Although he couldn't do much, he could still heal if anyone fell sick. He wasn't sure if Jewel would stick by her parents or make regular visits to the rest of the pack, so currently, he had to assume it'd be just him.

Bright smiled and nodded to Doctor, glad that he would not reject her well-meaning assistance. She called to the young family within the den, "Take care! Can't wait 'til the pups can meet the pack!" Then she turned away, smiling gleefully. Whelps were so precious, and brought such promise to the future of the pack. She was glad to see this pack growing, sure that this would be her home well into the future. They had been so welcoming to her, and she had been able to settle here and raise her own in a way that wouldn't be possible if she were on her own. Though she still desperately wished that she could find her offspring from years ago, who had run away from home unexpectedly, she knew that in order to provide the best for her current litter, she needed to settle and provide for them a stable upbringing. Tirisfal seemed a strong and compassionate place for her whelps to form into, and the wolves within the lands were reliable and steady.

Ready to get moving, Bright moved closer to Doctor so that he could depend on her to hold his weight should he grow weary on the way back to the dens were he would spend time healing up. She giggled to herself, knowing that she would see to it that he took his own advice as a healer. "Once you get to the dens, you'll have to spend time off your paws," she said, flicking her tail into the air as though she knew it all, "I'll help you to make sure you're not trying to do anything before your body is ready." She stayed by his side, allowing him to walk at the pace that felt best for him, watching to make sure he wouldn't push too hard.

.where do we go when we just don't know.
.how do we relight the flame when it's cold.
.why do we dream when our thoughts mean nothing.
.and when will we learn to control.

Serenity chuckled at Nuri's observation. "The question becomes, when are they not up to something?" he said with a twinge of nostalgia, thinking back to his memories as a young boy. They were not as prosperous as these children; no, not by far, but he still had his fun. Dragging Priest away from the adults during boring councils, venturing into forbidden dens, and playing with forces well beyond their control. Things had been very different back then. How contraire he was here now, basking in these lands of light... Had he not found his faith, he surely would be where his brother was now, whichever the dark corners of the Earth he may roam. Having him here ever-so-briefly was like a walking shadow, present only for a short period of time, and disappearing as the days slipped by. His lavender orbs on the pups, their forms blurry as his vision began to go, he silently prayed that they would never have to experience the wretched perils he and his brother had somehow survived. They did not deserve it.

And then, there it was again. That cold, bitter wind from the mountains, slithering through the sugar maples like a poisonous snake. It was enough to snap his attention from the pups and to the peak of Mount Muerta itself. He did not like what was happening up there, though he knew naught of what it was. Nuri did not seem to have any concern over it, and Serenity knew he was right. "The reason you always wind up in trouble is because you go looking for it, brother," said Priest's voice in his head, a mere memory. Back when he was lawful, good, and true. Those words of wisdom hadn't changed. It was even what the monks had taught him and he had accepted. He could do nothing but remain neutrally compliant, patient, and waiting. Seeing that Nuri was nearby and watching the children now, he took a moment to bow his head, close his eyes, and pray to Fenrir that there would not be tragedy or terror on its way.

Nuri's tail wagged and the children's enthusiastic greeting made him smile. These bunch the future of the pack. In time they would grow into fine wolves. He glanced at Kaya to make sure she was handling the pestering fine but she seemed to be doing ok. He noticed they had seemed keyed up even before he had returned with Kaya and he glanced around and then back at Serenity. "Are you children up to something already?" He said it with no real heat just a hint of playfulness. For all his gruff looks Nuri was a gentle soul and treasured pups. He had to be sure though they showed the respect that was due to all living beings.

He nodded at Bright's words, who seemed to be fine being away from her pups a little longer. The pack would look out for them, of course, but it was good that she didn't feel the need to be back as soon as possible. Then she offered to help him back. Doctor weighed the options in his mind, and decided, "I'd enjoy the assistance back. I doubt anything will happen, but one never knows, right?"

Straightening up, he looked at his injured leg, wishing he could stretch it, but the makeshift splint wouldn't allow it until it was removed. The leg would grow weak as it mended, but careful exercises should help it regain some if not most of its movement back. He angled his head to face the den and said to the family within, "We'll leave you be for now, then."

To Bright, he questioned, "Shall we?"

Bright was glad to be of help, the best she could, as Jewel got to work binding the leg. She seemed dedicated to learn well, and certainly had the makings of a caring and gentle healer. Bright noticed something in her eyes though, some sort of distant sorrow that was buried deep - she seemed always quiet and thinking. Although she worked dutifully and reveled in the merriment of those around her, it seemed that the joy was never her own, and it reminded Bright much of herself. A constant, gnawing pain that dwelled below the surface, borne of the world's cruelty. She watched the younger fae go, a slight sigh rattling her breath, then turned back to Doctor as she heard his voice. She grinned, closing her eyes as Doctor mentioned not wanting to keep her away from the children much longer. Although she loved them all dearly, she was relieved to have a little break, even if she was busying herself with other tasks. She wouldn't have even minded greeting a newcomer, as it was always heartwarming to offer shelter to a weary traveler, particularly during this cold season. When the winds blew across the plains, the chill in the air could be quite harsh - Bright had come from similar lands, and knew how easily that cold wind could seep through even a thick winter coat. The thought alone made her shiver. Currently though, she was a little more concerned for Doctor, who still needed to rest and let his leg heal up. "Serenity and Nuri will have their paws full, but I'm sure it will be alright," she said softly with downcast eyes. She knew that the bunch of them could be quite tiresome to keep track of at all times, and if one of them was getting into trouble, you could be sure that the rest would soon follow. It wouldn't be long before they were all testing the waters, and this winter would be the season to teach them to be strong.

Tilting her head, Bright shifted her silver eyes to Doctor. Perhaps she could help him to his den before reuniting with the children. "Doctor, can I help you to your den?" she offered, tail swishing lightly, "Perhaps we will meet up with the others on the way back anyways." Whatever he decided, she was ready to move along. If he wanted to go on his own, she needed to get back to her den anyways to rest herself. She would need to hunt again soon, since she hadn't been able to deliver the hares as she'd intended, but at least the pups Kenai and Ernestine who she'd greeted earlier had been able to fill their little bellies. They were older than her own litter, and she hadn't seen them in some time now, she was just satisfied that she'd been able to feed hungry mouths. Her own whelps were well-cared for, so they could wait just a little bit longer for their next meal, perhaps they could even catch something of their own. Letting the thoughts slide for now, she waited to see what Doctor's answer was.

Esa was glad that Serenity had acknowledged her. She felt proud, like she had made a good decision to bring the game to a stop. Deep down she wanted to continue, but she had suddenly felt left out, and a little jealous of the way her sister was starting to bond with Haru. They had used to pick on him a little together, but now she seemed to favour him. Little did she know how immature she was being, while all the same thinking she was behaving herself by bringing silly games to an end. Tilting her head when Serenity mentioned a new litter, she smiled, becoming curious. "You mean there's more pups in the pack now?" she asked, feeling a little excited. Things could get a little boring when everyone was older than you, and always trying to warn you about some rule or another. Playing with the same old playmates could get tiring as well. Esa longed for adventure, and new friends. "I guess they won't be able to play yet," she said with a shrug. It would still be nice to meet the pups, even if they were still very tiny.

As the young fae went to follow Serenity, feeling a little ahead of herself as she started to trot faster, she heard his voice ring out, saying that they ought to bring something for the family. She hadn't thought of that, but it would be nice of them to bring something. She ducked her head and faced the elder, nodding her head in understanding. Then she glanced to Ely as her sister came and brushed up beside her, proclaiming that they would catch an elk between them. She paced away from Ely and Haru, shooting a little challenging glare, although a glimmer of amusement sparkled in her emerald pools. "I bet I'll find the nicest prey, by myself, since I'm not so busy playing silly games!" she yipped arrogantly, flicking her tail. She whipped around into the brush, not needing another word of encouragement to go out and prove herself. But before she could set out, her father suddenly appeared, bringing with him a new fae that seemed to cling to him. Esa was intrigued, but wondered if something was wrong with the fae - she seemed afraid, but who could be afraid of pups? She also seemed kind and gentle, and her voice was soft as she introduced herself. Emerald orbs looked over the fae. Sighing as she felt somewhat interrupted and wished she was already out seeking prey, as well as being in an awkward phase herself, she stepped towards the newcomer, not wanting to alienate her but feeling alien to the situation as it was. Her first instinct was to go sniff her all over, but as she was growing up she thought maybe it would be too abrupt an action, yet all the same she wasn't sure.

Elysia began by introducing all of them, and Esa was impressed by how at ease she felt. As her name was mentioned, she stepped forward and dipped her head shyly."Hi Kaya," she greeted, hoping she would come off kind enough, "I'm Esa. We're going hunting to see who's the best. There's new pups in the pack, and they're hungry so we have to make sure they have enough to eat!" Her manner was strange and awkward, having not met many new wolves before, but she meant well. She glanced over to Haru as the young brute made his way over, and sighed, waiting for the pleasantries to be made so that they could get on with what they were doing. She hoped Serenity would be okay with waiting for them.

-----------------------------------

Haru laughed as he landed upon Ely, toppling her over and finding himself on the ground next to her. She had gotten a little distracted by her sister, probably only something that she would notice. He had been too focused on catching her to realize that Esa was being a downer. He suddenly become uncertain though as she pounced on him and swatted with her paw, calling him a jerk just as she disengaged from the game, her eyes observing her sister in a serious manner. Something seemed to have changed, and it made his ears pin back. He had been having so much fun, and he wasn't sure why the game had been interrupted, and the two sisters seemed to be a little tense. Esa's demeanor had entirely changed since the moment she had tagged him. "S-sorry..." he murmured in the quietest whisper as he stared at the ground, not sure if she could even hear him. Then Serenity called to them, interrupting his train of thought, but slight anxiety still clawed at his belly.

Looking up as he heard Serenity's guiding voice, he understood that the brute was agreeing with Esa's idea to get moving, but he relayed to them the fact that there was a new litter within the pack, and they needed to be cared for. He wanted them to hunt and bring present something worthy. Being young members of the pack, they had the most to prove, and a lot to offer. Their efforts would be greatly appreciated if they could pull through. Still, he doubted his own skills... but all such worries could be set aside for just a moment, as Nuri returned to them with a newcomer in tow. Haru smiled at Kaya, curious about her. Still nervous about how the game of tag had played out, he maintained his distance until suddenly he heard his name. Elysia was calling him over! Relief suddenly washed over him, and he didn't need to be called again to rush over to where Ely and the new lady were. As he arrived, he heard Esa speaking out in her typical fashion, but he wasn't so bothered by her. Instead, he focused on Kaya, his eyes gleaming with puppish excitement, tail wagging. "Glad to meet you Kaya!" he yipped, his eyes smiling as he barely contained himself from leaping playfully.

Jewel had nodded to Doctor and took a deep breath she turned and padded away from her mother and father's den and from the newcomer making their arrival. They would be tended to. She needed to breath. Walking up the treeline she made her way to a spot where she could look down across the valley. Her eyes scanning for anything unusual...picking out spots that were wolves and guessing who they were. It was a game she and Robbie used to play.

She sighed thinking of Robbie...she missed him so but he probably was happy with ...that Chimera. she couldn't fault him for wanting to find someone to fill that emptiness. For a short time she knew what it felt like to enjoy someone's company but that wasn't meant to be. He and his brother's had left and she was here to tend and care for everyone because there had to be another healer.

Flicking her tail she quietly made her way  back down she didn't want to be too far in case someone needed her.

He wouldn't catch her yet, her lithe frame sailing over his own, not before she could tease him more. Elysia gave her chaser a smirk as she pressed to put distance between them. Her amber gaze flicked over to her sibling, all whilst running, catching a look of despondency and irritation. The young far slowed her pace, though before she could address the look she saw a body fell on her. Distracted, now, by a fit of laughter, her thoughts moved to the hessian who attacked her, and who now lay near her. Elysia stood quickly and bounded over to Haru, diving for him and attempting to pin the hessian. "You jerk! Jumping on me like that!" Elysia teased, playfully hitting her paw against Haru. The banter was shortened by a bark, and Ely glanced up to meet her sister's gaze. The young fae stepped off her friend, blinking and looking Esa over. Observing silently. Esa had made a fair point, but Ely was thrown off by the abrupt change from play to business.

Still, she was right, and in that rightful manner, Elysia watched Esa saunter over to Serenity. Where had their father gone? The howl, the game had been distracting but she had heard the call. Elysia glanced over to Haru, curious to see if she could read his reaction on her sister's polarity. She did not stray long, having ended up just giving him the ol' stuck out tongue before smirking and dashing off to Esa and Serenity. Ignoring the looks and attitude of her sister, and refusing to let her be a sour puss, Elysia carried herself to Esa's side, their coats brushing lightly. "Esa and I could bring down one of those elk!" Ely spoke excitedly, naive in many ways still. The young fae flicked her gaze to Esa, she would not be put off by her sister's sharp demeanour.

Before she could say more, the familiar voice of her father filled Elysia's auds, and she quickly caught his words, a newcomer. A stranger, this close, it was thrilling! Her gaze quickly flicked over towards the new fae, watching as she shyly moved out of hiding. Ely smiled warmly in greeting, watching silently as Kaya took her time. Oh, how she wanted to barrel over and smother the woman with questions and the like, however, Nuri's words ceased her movement. "Hi Kaya, my names Elysia. This is my sister Esarosa, and this...Haru get over here!" Ely spoke with a soft tone, until she barked quickly at Haru.

Kaya followed Nuri as he padded away, flicking her ears as she listened to him speak. "Thank you." she said when he mentioned about having the pack's healer look at her. Although her wound was healed, it was still very sore and it was causing Kaya to limp as she padded alongside Nuri. Kaya glanced at the mountains when Nuri mentioned them and the wolves that lived there, making a mental note to stay well away from them. Although she would fight to defend the pack if needed, Kaya was generally a peace loving wolf and tried to avoid conflict, so  she was pleased when Nuri said that she would like it here and then proceeded to explain what had happened to the pack recently.

Now that Kaya was about to meet her packmates, she felt terrified and stuck close to Nuri as he rounded a corner and led her forwards. He then moved to one side and Kaya got a good look at some of her new packmates. There were three pups there and a older wolf. Kaya bowed submissively to the older wolf and smiled gently at the pups who reminded her so much of the ones in her old family. Memories of them suddenly overwhelmed her and she shut her eyes briefly, then opened them again and with another gentle smile, she introduced herself. "Hello I'm Kaya. Pleased to meet you." she said softly.

As he began to walk away his ears flicked back as he heard a yelp from Kaya, pausing in his tracks he glanced back at her and frowned. "We'll also find our pack healer to take a look at you, for now lets go easy then hmm?" He smiled kindly at her and slowed his pace so that it was leisurely. Catching his packmate scent he angled himself back in the direction of Serenity all the while he soft amiable voice spoke to Kaya. "I think you'll like it here Kaya, we're a peaceful pack and with the exception of a few instances we mostly get left alone." Pausing in his sentence his gaze wandered to the horizon where in the distance the giant monoliths of Muerta rose up, the mountain peaks reaching into the clouds. "As a general rule though you don't want to go anywhere near those mountains...nasty wolves there." Clearing his throat he went on. "We recently experienced a bit of a freak stampede through our pack and have yet to completely regroup, so we'll be doing that now and you can make everyones acquaintance." Walking a bit farther he smiled as he heard some distinctive puppish voices. "Ah, here we are." Rounding the corner he spotted Serenity and gave a small yip to grab his attention. He noticed that the pups were gathered around him as if preparing to do some sort of activity. Glancing reassuringly back at Kaya he led her forward. "I'm back and I've brought a new friend everybody." He stepped aside as if to display her and again smiled. "This is Kaya everybody she'll be joining our pack, be sure to give her some space though, shes traveled a long way." This last comment was directed at the children with a mock serious face. He knew that had manners enough not to pester a newcommer.

Meeting Serenity gaze his smile wavered slightly. "She is injured and I would like Ali or Jewel to take a look at her, we should also meet up with everyone and get on the same leaf." The ebon alpha mind wandered to the other half of his pack and wondered how Doctor was faring. The last he had seen of him he was being treated for his leg, he hoped the brute was doing okay.

Unfortunately, the elder didn't get very far in his slumber as Esa's voice roused him. He raised his head, perplexed at her boastfulness about seeing the others, but took no offense. She was trying to make a point to the other two, and Serenity couldn't let her down. He stood up and shook his coat, flying off a light dusting of falling snow. "Yes, you're right, Esa," he replied, glancing at the other two with a hint of a smile. He had the feeling they would listen to her now. "It has been a while since you've seen the others. Then, see them we shall. Robin and Ali would be most excited to see all of you... and their new litter, as well." He didn't know if the kids knew about the pups, but they would now. He turned and headed for their dens, walking slowly, knowing that they would race ahead of him like rabbits when given the chance.

"But let us not be hasty," he said, hoping they would listen before they got too excited. "If we showed up with nothing, it would be rude, don't you think? Robin and Ali have worked very hard for this pack. I think it is time you repaid them. They are probably hungry... Who do you think can bring them the best meal?" Offering a challenge was the best way he'd be able to examine their skills. They were strong enough by now to catch small game on their own. He wondered if they would work together as a team, leave one of them to hunt for themselves, or hunt individually. Regardless, it was sure to bring out some answers.
