| He couldn't help but grin at Mercy's comment. "Perhaps that's one small advantage to lookin' a little diff'rent. You two did well yaselves, workin' together like that to kill them goat. Pity about that one." He nodded where it seemed like everyone was watching Vengeance. She had appeared out of nowhere and joined in the hunt, either not noticing the ambush or wanting to catch a little something by herself. He didn't care which, since they got to watch her jump back to the ledge she'd just gotten out of. Despite the perils of living on a mountain, it probably wasn't often even these wolves make it habit to take the most dangerous route. Stark was still sure she'd make it, agreeing with Odin's response to Mercy.
"Yer brother's probably right. If she can get out, gettin' in isn't that bad. She'll try that much harder if she doesn't approve of me here, anyways. Wolves always try harder to one up folk like me. Although it might not be a bad thing with them tenderfoot pack of mutts building. I dunno why they're here, but I don't know how any dog from two legger land think. They might be smart and keep to themselves, or they'll be dumb an' venture too close or try an' attack. Either way, we should keep 'em in the back of our thoughts. Pests tend to multiply and cause problems, even if they're far away." | |

| He raised his head when the walls of the mountain pass opened up into lands he had never seen before. A temperate forest of ash, birch, oak, and evergreen lay toppled on the stark and rocky faces of mountains, like an angry god had taken the world and crumpled it together. A map balled up and thrown away. The mountain peaks tore into the pale and wintry sky, capped white with recent snow, likely colder than hell frozen over. It contrasted the lands he had come to known- with its rolling hillsides and amber skies, warm and by the sea, but perhaps the Fates had led him on this path for a purpose not yet known. A great deal of guilt and punishment lay on the blonde leekohs' shoulders, and so he pushed onward into a place likely to not lift this weight, but let it crush him.
It didn't take long for the smell of a pack to reach his nares. They had a bit of a foul stench, like old blood and war, but what was he expecting? A warm welcome? No, these were not the lands of oil and wine, as he had come to know. There would be very much to learn, so very much, and it would be fitting for what he had done. Not wanting to trespass any further than he believed he had, he raised his head and released a howl, for whoever would answer. He then sat back on his haunches, his paws dry and cracked from his journey thus far, waiting for either a wolf to reply or approach him. His mouth ached of thirst but he could see nor smell no water near. Yes... Wherever he was, it was not going to be an easy place to live. | |

| Vengeance turned sharply when she heard Akira's voice directed at her. Her ears burned with some sort of shame; why hadn't she thought of that? She'd just given up so quickly and had intended to let the body go to waste, without even thinking of some other way to salvage it. She nodded her head quickly to Akira, and padded cautiously back to the edge from which she'd come. A quick glance downward set her stomach reeling, but she forced the feeling down as she swallowed hard and dug her claws into the ground. Without hesitating a moment longer, as she felt many gazes burning into her pelt, she leaped forward with a mighty boost from her hinds. She landed accurately on the ledge, and took in a few sharp breaths. She clamped her jaws into the goat's neck and dragged it right to the edge before giving it a forceful shove, sending the body plumeting to the ground below. She watched it go, trying to let her mind focus on anything but her next move. The body finally struck the ground with a muffled thud. Turning away from it, Vengeance guaged the distance from the ledge to main ground once more. She couldn't look like a weakling in front of any of these wolves. She readied herself and made the jump again. She made it again without any difficulty, though her skin crawled now that she'd made it to safety. Giving herself a rough shake, she rid herself of her dreadful thoughts, making certain in her mind that she'd simply never do such a thing again. Now she glanced up, wondering who had been watching. She caught the Alphaess' eyes, then gazed around to see Stark, Mercy and Odin casting glances her way every now and then, as though wondering if she'd make it. She snorted, feeling irritable with so many wolves watching. Her hackles prickling, she trotted over to Akira, dipping her head. "Shall I go fetch what's left of that carcass?" she figured she might as well make a trek down to see what she could get out of her kill, if there was nothing else of importance for her to do at the moment. ---------------------------- The jet black fae narrowed icy blue eyes, her nose wrinkling with annoyance. The small, weakened fae gave no response to her questions, instead just standing there, a small and silent intruder. "Hmph, I see," she grunted, turning her back on the fae, "Well, when you manage to untie your tongue, seek us out if you dare." She didn't give another glance back, leaving the young femme to fend for herself. She didn't have all day to sit around waiting for a scared little whelp to say something. Maybe she'd realize she didn't belong here and would just go back where she came from. Winter's whiskers still twitched with irritation, and her pace quickened. Now she had missed Akira's call for a hunt, and she didn't even have anything to show for it. Stupid whelp! she thought, Perhaps I should have just ended her suffering. The though sent chills of anticipation through her body, and she felt almost ready to turn back to spill young blood. But just then another howl filled the air, this time the voice of a grown male. A grin split her maw. If the opportunity arose, she wouldn't have to feel bad about spilling the blood of a wolf capable of defending itself. Shaking herself out, she tried to grasp at some scrap of self-control and composure. She didn't need to go about smirking and licking her lips like some sort of mindless, bloodthirsty beast. She gave a brief chortle at her own thoughts. Like she cared what anyone thought, or how she portrayed herself. As long as she found satisfaction, that was all that mattered. She took off in a hurried manner, her strides long and tail trailing high behind her. It was not long before she laid her sharp gaze upon the blonde male, seated and waiting for some sort of invitation. She'd never seen a wolf like him before - he seemed almost out of place, and she wondered if he'd stumbled here just as confused as the she-whelp she'd left behind. The wolves she'd seen around here all seemed to blend well with the terrain, with shades of gray, white, brown and black in their pelt. But blonde, well that was something out of the ordinary here. Lashing her tail, she tread closer to him, looking him over, trying to judge what he was thinking, but it didn't seem clear to her what was on his mind. Not bothering another moment to try to figure it out, she paced forward until she stood in front of him. "Greetings," she said, her muscles flexing with eagerness. If he was not ready to be here, she would gladly get rid of him. "Muerta's Alphaess does not waste her time on travelers," she stated firmly, "But give me good reason, and I will bring you to the pack for judgement." She blinked, her eyes glittering with an icy stare. She couldn't wait to hear what this male had to say, as he just looked much too soft to belong in a place such as this. | |

| Golden lanterns lifted from the earth and up to a black female that had a coldness all her own. She was perfectly suited for this place of darkness and winter. She spoke quickly and directly, and if there were shackles around his ankles, they surely would have rustled at her approach. He stood up, but his head was down, posture submissive. "I am no traveler," he replied, looking into her eyes now. "I am a prisoner. A slave. A man who is bound to his punishment. What is my crime, you ask? Where do I hail from? My crime is the murder of my own beloved son in my homelands, Olympia. My grievances do not outweigh my guilt." He lowered his eyes again. "I came to these lands after being unable to withstand my own. I do not wish to join a pack, but to serve one until fate decides that my debt has been repaid."
What would this woman do with him? Dismiss him, torture him, brand him? His own pack had been too kind, too forgiving - they believed that what he had done with his own paws was a mistake, but they were oh so wrong. The image of his dear son's face flickered in his mind's eye and he winced; until he was punished, it would always, always be a painful memory. "So please," he said softly. "Do not think me out of place. I belong here." | |

| Winter watched the male, her eyes never wavering from him as he told his story and gave his reasons for coming here. A brow quirked. How melodramatic. She couldn't tell whether or not this wolf was a callous, cold-blooded murderer, or just a sorry fool. She frowned subtly as he softly spoke, insisting that he belonged here. Then her expression changed more drastically to one of disgust, her lips twitching. She wasn't convinced. "A mere scape-goat dragging himself around..." she murmured, her body stilling, "How pathetic." She glared at him through narrowed eyes, contemplating what she would do with him. "I think Akira would be more pleased if I dragged back your mangled carcass, than to have some sorry excuse for a wolf pleading for someone to serve," she barked harshly, before her eyes glimmered with dark mischief, "Unless you've got some fight in you." The words were her only warning before she sprung suddenly into action, throwing her weight toward his shoulder, intending to knock him to the ground before her jaws reached for his scruff. If anything, she just wanted to test him, to see if he had anything of value worth keeping him alive for, but she wasn't going to take it easy on him if he couldn't defend himself or even avoid damage. She would never present such a pathetic scrap of life to her Queen; they didn't need another mouth to feed if he could offer nothing to the pack of Muerta. But who knew, perhaps under his pitiful exterior was a warrior, a killer, or some sort of strengths. Surely this wolf had not come here on a suicide mission... somehow, deep down, it seemed as though he might have a purpose here, but Winter had her doubts and wasn't prepared to bring him to the pack until she knew a little bit more about him. | |

| She was not pleased, this much was true. But a scapegoat? No, no. She seemed to have misunderstood. He still couldn't wash the blood from his paws at what he had done. Her snarl alerted him and she sprang; he dodged to the right, claws grazing his shoulder, drawing blood with a slight sting. He growled in response, taking his back away from her and curling his lips. "You don't have to test me to know who I am," he said, golden eyes flickering in the pale light like a pair of twin flames. He crouched low, on the defensive. It was always easier to take the the defense than the offense. He could see the openings in her stance, the pressure points hidden on her body, the surroundings he could use to his advantage. He was not much for brawn. No, when it came to anything, he was entirely brains. "But if you can't see down your own snout, then come at me." The challenge rose with his voice. If this is what he needed to do in order to wash his paws clean of his son's death, then so be it. | |

| A delighted sparkle flickered through her eyes as she watched him dodge with purpose. Her paws landed with a heavy thud on the earth. She shifted her body so they were face-to-face, elbows bent and muscles coiled, though she remained still. A deranged smirk spread across her lips as she heard his growl; she wanted so much to strike out again, but she kept herself firmly planted. Looking into his fiery orbs, she perked as she heard him speak. She couldn't stifle a snort of laughter. "Then tell me more about your guilty conscience," she scoffed, digging her claws into the ground, "And how you are slave to your punishment and your debts." She watched him expectantly, noting his eyes flicking here and there as he surveyed the surroundings. She flashed her teeth in annoyance. Trying to find an advantage over me, are you? she thought, hackles bristling. She crouched lower, as he did, like a predator stalking its prey. Her eyes were wide, watching him warily. Then he spoke again, his tone rising with a challenge. A furious snarl erupted from Winter as she struggled to contain herself; her jaws were clenched, and she felt that her paws might soon take on a life of their own. Can't I just kill him right now? she thought as she grasped for reasoning, But if he is accepted, I can have fun with him later.. Cold anger gleamed in her eyes and nostrils flared as she stood up straight. "And just where would it get you if either of us ends up dead?" she questioned, trying to sound reasonable although an undertone of threat escape with her voice, "I will gladly rip you apart if that's what you want... but you came here for a reason, isn't that right?" He had said that he belonged here; surely he knew exactly where he was and why he'd come here. Would he give up and leave, or was he determined to be here? She couldn't understand what he meant by letting fate decide when his debts had been repayed; who did he owe, and how would he know when he had served his punishment? And if he was only here to repay some sort of debt owed elsewhere, then why come here at all? Of course, because he couldn't stand the place he'd been at. What made him think it would be better here? She did not trust his intentions, and perhaps that's why she felt so unwilling to accept his presence. Frustrated, she waited for his response. | |

| "If I am to end up dead, that is what the fates have decided, not you," he replied, noting the fire in her tone now. She was the gatekeeper to his test, the threshold to his goal. Overcoming her meant not just battle, but wit and skill. He lacked the build of his cousins, the Spartans, but that did not mean his academically-sound mind did not know the strategy of how to fight. She did not attack him again, but her stance was far more predatory now than it was when she first launched at him. He traced her steps as she slowly approached, moving in a circle, keeping his back away from her, his head low. "I killed my only son, Icarus, who I now take as my own namesake. It is because of this evil act that I am here. I do not belong with my kin anymore, so long as the guilt weighs upon my soul. I have crossed the River Styx to these lands, for the purpose of serving a dark master as punishment. I see now that you are the guardian at the gate." He silently wondered what more she needed to know. He found his story to be fairly clear, but his head was also rushing with the sound of his beating heart and bated breath. She could try to chase him away or kill him now, but the fact of the matter was, he was not going to just leave. | |

| "I don't care who has decided your fate!" came her scathing retort, "No matter what, that makes me your fate, and I will decide it." She didn't care for wolves that believed in fate such as he did, and it made her want to rip him up even more for believing such a thing. Life was merely a series of events that unfolded with the flow of time; there were no predetermined destinations or occurences. Whatever happened was whatever a wolf made it to be. How could anyone believe that their future belonged to someone else? That it was determined by some higher power? Claws dug into the ground and her disgust was renewed. He spoke further, explaining his purposes. She snorted with annoyance before closing her eyes and giving a deep sigh, resigning. Eyes flicked open. "Very well, Icarus," she murmured, blinking icy blue orbs, "I may have been born here, and I may protect the borders, but I do not believe I am the one to pass ultimate judgement, much as I'd love to. But, it's not like you're a threat." Her voice rang out in a growl, betraying her bloodthirsty desires. However, she had more sense and more control than she let on. She couldn't help that she was a bit scrappy, one could say it was in her genes to pick a fight. "Maybe you will find your place here, and maybe not," she said, her tail switching from side to side, "I doubt that your fate is so set in stone, as you seem to believe. But you may want to put your guilt behind you while you are here; there is no room in Muerta for such a feeling. It's simple, really; just don't do anything that you'll regret." She wondered if he would be capable of leaving his regrets behind him as he served the pack reigning over the mountains. Was he ready to do such a thing? This was a cold and harsh place, and she doubted that any wolf here had so much as a sliver of guilt lingering for the deaths they had caused. "Do you understand, Icarus?" she asked; her tone was no friendlier, but her voice came out softer than before, the edge gone for now, "Your paws are stained with murder now... stains that will never come clean... stains that will never match who you were... your only option is to change yourself to match your stains." Winter gazed at him a moment longer, her cold eyes revealing nothing. Then she turned away from him, ears tilted back in case he should make a sudden movement, and began padding deeper into the territory. She assumed he was not going to attack her, and that he was going to follow, so she picked up her pace and headed in the direction she remembered Akira calling from. Her tail flicked into the air, beckoning him to follow. She hoped that he understood what it would be like to reside here, and that he wasn't going to irritate their Queen. They were covering good ground at the current pace, and it was not long before the scents of the pack became evident, along with their kills. "We will meet the pack soon," she said over her shoulder, "My name is Endless Winters. I will see you later." With that she bounded forward, eager to see what the pack had managed to get on their hunt. She almost wished she hadn't let her curiousity get the better of her, but she knew Akira was not one to waste her time greeting newcomers at the border; she would have sent someone after them anyways. | |

| She took his words very... personally. He couldn't quite understand why. His beliefs were his own, why would he expect her to believe the same? She didn't understand the Fates; if the Fates deemed it necessary that she ended his life, so it was. If they deemed it necessary that some other event would end it, then so be it. He himself did not know, but he knew that if he were to go to a seer, they would direct him down the right path. The dark fem talked of leaving his guilt behind and he kept mum. The burden of killing your own son, tasting your own blood, and all for a foolish mistake... It appeared to be something she would not be able to comprehend. He wondered if she had children of her own, but dare not ask, for he would see it soon enough.
She turned, whipcord beckoning him, and he followed. The earth beneath his pads became harder and paler, the grass fading away to sheet rock. The birch and pine trees fell behind them as they came upon a cliffside, powdered with snow. The wind was deathly cold up here, blowing against his blonde coat, but it did not slow his pace. Endless Winters loped ahead, not at all blinking at the flurries, but her name suited her well for the world she lived in. He followed, quiet and observant, the pack's dark stench growing near. | |

| Mercy watched Stark as he spoke rather than watch Vengeance. She was sure she would make it as well but the consequences made her shudder. She did not enjoy such daredevil stunts herself unlike some other wolves. Her auds cupped forward listening to him transition towards dogs and the ravel that was gathering to the west. Mercy didn't really care about the differences, though she had admit she did feel a natural superiority to dogs on a whole. She wasn't as arrogant as some who would underestimate them though. "I'm not sure they would be so foolish as strike at Muerta, even new to this land my mothers reputation is widespread. " Ear flicked back when she heard the grunt of Odins approval signaling Vegeances successful landing. Mercy looked back to watch the carcass plummet to the rocks below. Back to Stark she continued "And if they tried we would crush them and throw them back like pups. " Akira watched the whole scene and she too grunted in approval after the she wolf completed the task. When Vengeance finally approached she snapped her teeth together loudly in habit. "Yes, then follow our trail to where store the extra." Addressing everyone now "Good hunt, this will keep us for awhile yet. Odin cleared his throat and said "I'll help Vegeance while You, Stark and Mercy go take care of the meat?" He phrased it carefully so as not to ignite his mothers sense of dominance. He knew how little she liked when she thought people were trying to direct her. Lucky this time she didn't even bat a lash as she nodded and stepped over to goats. Odin turned and gestured Vengeance to lead the way. It was still her kill even if it was botched some. Akira sniffed over the goats licking the sides of their faces in a possessive way. "Mercy a demonstration in you're strength and endurance please. You as we'll Stark. " Then she turned tail and began slowly leading the way into the forest taking her time to sniff at plants and place her scent. Mercy watched her mother with an upraised brow but said nothing and sighed when she was oh of earshot. Looking at Stark she gave a lopsided grin. "As the queen says, lets get to it. " Going to the goat she hefted it up to the flatter plane and adjusting her grip began to dragging it after her mother. | |

| He felt so old. He had grown old in passing times and was so sick of everything that had happened. It seemed no Midnights were around anymore. The one halfbreed he found was missing, that was quite annoying. And the plan with the orange wolf had gone into a bust. That's okay though, he didn't need to help them right now there was nothing he could do, though what he could do was make time to find a little nest of a home in the one place he knew so well. Muerta. Akira. Old friends or sworn enemies, that is interesting way to think about it but that's the only way he knew. Midnight wolves were... different and not accepted in most places but who cared really, things were so different now. The pack had just killed something. He wasn't hungry at all. Instead he sat down and rested a moment letting the cold air touch his pelt and cool him off from his trek around the world of fire and ice | |

| Vengeance noted the Queen's clashing teeth, and wondered if she'd done something to displease her; however, it seemed that the motion was just a habit, nothing to be worried about unless it became directed at you. She nodded to Akira when she gave her orders. She was surprised to hear Odin speak up and offer to help her retrieve the goat's carcass. She wondered what he was really thinking. He had such a ghostly expression, and was normally so quiet and withdrawn. As he turned to her, she nodded her head as he gestured for her to lead the way. She flicked her tail and turned away, heading further down the mountainside. It would be a long climb down, and an even more difficult trip back up. Maybe it would be a good thing for Odin to assist her. Her claws scraped icy rock and scrubby patches of growth as she descended, and she had to keep repositioning herself so she wouldn't fall the wrong way and go tumbling all the way down. Suddenly getting irritated with how difficult this was, she promised herself that she would always be much more careful in any future hunting... or anything near any cliff, ever.
Finally they had reached the lower area where her kill had landed. She could smell the tang of blood and death. She glanced to Odin, motioning for him to follow her, and headed toward the goat's body. She spotted it amongst the rocks, misshaped and mangled, splattered blood surrounding it. "Well... it's still in one piece," she muttered, a little hiss of anger coming through in her voice, "Let's get this over with quickly." She looked over her shoulder, casting a questioning glance to Odin. She still found it a little odd that he had volunteered to help. Her tail waved slowly, wondering when he would come over to help her drag this carcass away.
---------------------------
Winter made her way over the wolves where they were gathering around their kills. Her paws felt light on the icy rock as she trotted over, her tail flagged up behind her. The new wolf would be not far behind, and he would need to be assessed by the pack, but most importantly by Akira. She spotted the battle-scarred femora amongst the others, and padded over to her. She dipped her head in greeting to the Queen, hoping her absence during the hunt wouldn't be a problem. "Akira, there is a new wolf wishing for approval here," she said simply, then glanced over the prey that had been caught. Saliva bubbled in her mouth. "Excellent catch," she commented, ripping her eyes away from the fresh meat and bringing it back to the Alphaess. Then she nodded her head in the direction she'd come from. Icarus still hadn't appeared though. Had he changed his mind after all? Winter clenched her jaws, glaring at the empty space she saw. No wolf came forward. She looked back to her Queen, feeling sheepish, yet frothing with anger. Akira would take her for a fool. "He turned back.." she muttered angrily, "After coming this far, he turned back! I should go after him and kill him!" Her claws dug into the ground, seething. He didn't deserve to leave the territory alive. Ears flicking back in agitation, she kept her eyes on Akira, wondering what she would think of the situation.

| He smirked at her comment and replied, "From what I've seen in other groups, them mutts don't think much 'bout reputation until they've seen it. But they would get a good, sound beat'n, wouldn' they? Might be fun to see how quickly they learn to give up." Odin spoke up about how to divide the work, and Akira seemingly agreed.
Akira and Mercy each took a goat, so Stark moved to the third and grabbed it. Work like this was easy and he had no issues with it. He slowed down his pace once he noticed the queen pausing to remark the terra as so not to get ahead and to keep pace with Mercy.
The kids didn't seem so bad, although he knew he was talking with the more civil of Akira's offspring. As long as some of them were capable of normal communications and humor. | |

| Odin trailed closely behind Vengeance keeping his head down and scenting the ground. He trusted her to lead the way and from there they could retrieve the carcass. The smell of blood instantly hit his nares and he noticed the carrion birds starting to circle and move in. He snapped at one that hopped to close to him. Coming up alongside his pack mate he carefully navigated around the rocks stepping gingerly lest he lean on a sharp rock. He gave her a side glance, difficult to do with only one eye...well at least one eye that saw properly. He noted her aggression, those of Crimson's get always seemed to be aggressive. He could see why though, he could also see why they lived here. Odin couldn't help the chuckle that escaped him. "Yes, the faster we move it the faster we can get away from these damn birds." Having said so he lunged towards a group of them hopping too close pleased to see them scatter. Fenrir, he hated birds.
Wasting no time he circled mindful of another steep cliff inviting them to fall at his back. Grabbing the nape of its neck he heaved it up in a surge of strength and using his muscular haunches moved it quickly up and over the rocks dropping it in the dust before Vengeance. A blood trail spattered the rocks, and his coat wasn't much spared either. Ah well, a good bath would be welcome after a meal anyways. Looking at the she wolf a rare smirk lit his face before it disappeared. "Don't let my mother get to you, you did well to chase down this goat." Moving to the pack he positioned himself to grab the rear and inviting her to take the lead in the front.
Akira was picking her way back ranging close to Mercy and Stark when Winter came from the brush announcing news of a intruder. Her head tilted a moment as she surveyed the she wolf with her cold amber eyes. She had been missing from the hunt and as her eyes flicked over her shoulder to reveal no one else her blank face began to move into a frown. "So there is an intruder wandering my lands and you were his last escort?" Her face became the definition of chilly before a low growl emitted from her. Snarling she lunged forward snapping in Winter's face raising her body above her, demanding submission. Her growl suspended for twenty heartbeats before she nipped her cheek in reprimand, which doubtless was vastly less severe than some of her other outbursts. "Bring me to him. You shall eat last when we dine." Stepping aside she awaited for the wench to lead the way. | |

| Vengeance noticed the brute casting a sidelong glance at her through peculiar eyes, speaking about getting away quickly so they could be free of many scavengers hanging around greedily. She nodded in agreement before he darted off to chase away some pesky birds. She moved ahead to get herself near the goat's corpse. As she turned around again, Odin had just startled a group of birds, several coming her way; so afraid of their initial attacker, they were less aware of the danger they were putting themselves in as they fled. She crouched in readiness, eyes widening as they came closer, then leapt into the air. Her jaws snapped, cathing nothing, but she reached up with a paw and swatted one to the ground, where she quickly pounced upon it and took it in her jaws. Clamping down hard she shook the bird in violent delight until its squawking ceased. She then flung the lifeless body to the ground, spitting out feathers as she did so. "Let that be a warning to those scavengers," she muttered grimly, "To be more respectful in the presence of Muerta's wolves." Satisfied with what she'd done, she looked up to see Odin dragging the goat towards her, dropping it at her paws. She glanced up at him, smirking as she saw the blood spattered upon his pelt. She saw the brief smirk that crossed his mug, surprised to see it at all from the mysterious brute. With the smirk faded, he spoke, assuring her not to let Akira get to her. Surprised again, she heard his praise, but she couldn't forget how the Queen had looked at her, clearly seeing her as a bit foolish. She had already sworn to herself that she would be more careful in the future; she didn't want to look like some sort of stupid show-off or know-it-all. But she couldn't help feeling better about it when Odin told her she'd done well taking down the goat. At least she wasn't a fool in everyone's eyes. "Well, your mother is the pack's tyrant, after all," she said with an amused glint in her eyes, "Making a fool of yourself in front of her... it takes you down a notch." Lashing her tail to try to rid herself of any openness at the moment she nodded to Odin as he motioned for her to take the lead dragging the goat back. She moved to the neck, sinking in her fangs and getting a good grip. She nodded once more at him to signal they would start moving. It would be quite the job dragging this thing all the way back up the cliffside, but a job she didn't mind sharing with Odin. -------------------------- Winter watched Akira, emotions roiling beneath her pelt as she saw her Alphaess' expression go from aloof to displeased. The words that came forth made Winter freeze in anticipation of what was coming next. She was the last wolf to have seen the intruder... and now he was gone. A cold look crossed Akira's face before the dark femora lunged with a growl that would send most wolves quivering to their grave. The jet black fae stood hunched with her head low and hackles raised, her tail held low but lashing side to side. Pearl white fangs could be seen beneath charred lips, but she did not look her Alphaess in the eye, nor did she make a challenge. More than anything it was simply her nature to rebel being forced into submission, but her real anger came from the male that had made a fool of her. She ducked her head lower as Akira nipped at her with jaws that could kill in an instant. A low growl rumbled through Winter's chest. "Yes m'lady Akira," she said hoarsely, furious, "Let me find him, and I'll kill him myself!" Whirling around the fae set off, heading back the way she'd came, wondering when she would find that the scent trail split off from where Icarus had been following her, yet she had a feeling she wouldn't find him... | |

| Hades had picked up the sounds of hunting up in the mountains, or at least the death cries of the damned. He was growing restless, and this "Akira" was either severely ignorant of him, or she was testing him. he hoped the last, since leaving a stranger unattended in the pack lands was a foolish thing to do. he could have ripped a bloody path trough the weak, old and young wolves who weren't attending the hunt, and have disappeared before they would have even descended from the mountains. Good for Akira, Hades wasn't intent on a merry chase game through these lands of fire and ice, nor bent on the slaughtering of the innocent. For as far someone was innocent in these parts. Hades did felt a little offended by the way he was treated by her underling, the black, short tempered brute. He would pay the price of course. And for the others he had merry plans too, but first he had to make himself unmissable, no vital to Akira. | |

| OOC: I swear I posted to this...and it's gone...grrr. Lame post but trying to get her into the mix
Dae stood back as her mother commented on the hunt. She was proud of her siblings for their kills and sat just above them looking down as they bent to haul away the kill. Her eyes looked for the male who had dubbed himself her companion...who had said he had known her brother...for the moment he was out of sight.
She watched as her mother's anger flared at Winter, ears flicked forward and she took a breath. At least her mother's anger wasn't focused on her for the moment. If her heart were blacker she would have chuckled at the sight...but she carried too much of her father's blood in her...and her aunts.
She watched everyone disperse and would pick her way down moving like a white wraith to her sister, Mercy. Her eyes fell on Odin next and she felt a pain in her heart. She missed her twin. | |

| An air of excitement embodied his presence, if he were younger perhaps he'd dance a bit at the situation. As it was, he simply allowed an extra slide to his stride. A smirk crossed his maw as the group moved further into Akira's lands, the mountains would be the best to retreat to and hide from prying eyes. Jabbar had once been a powerful and ruthless pack, but now it fell to the side. The only malicious wolves left were entombed in the mountins, rightly so given the environment. The misguided pures and the undecided neutral wolves would not dare tread on the ice queen's terra, no doubt their blood would be spilt if they had the wrong intentions. Muerta would hide his new friends well, and Akira, in her old age, could not deny what these foreigners offered. Zaiaku himself couldn't, but he also couldn't deny the bloody fun that would come with it.
Anastasiya had proven to be quite the travel partner, what with the pouring of desire, to which Zai had engaged with playfully. Perhaps he would take her off to the side, give the elder fae the brutality she craved. He was not without his own desire, but his lay more in what was to come. The younger hessian might not be having an easier time controlling his eagerness, the wench wafted her scent back to the other three as they led. And what of Thanasis, was the two ancient males simply immune to her tactics? Or had they been there already, and knew Ana's desire was for youth? Zaiaku couldn't imagine Svadilfari felt much anymore, his wretched coughing disturbed every creature. It was no wonder this odd caravan of strangers sought something so eternal.
"Tis' no longer about the pleasure, for long has it been about power." Lyrics were hoarse, and Zai wndered if it was intentional. Svad had remained at the back for the travel, but now is disfigured and deteriating frame crippled forward, a light laugh turned into a gutteral sound as though he might throw up. Svadilfari looked Ana's way and smirked, before looking upon Zaiaku. "The scent of blood mingles with the beginning of spring, lo! These lands remain clothed in white, shall we grovel for them? Beg as an outsider does, and claim sanctuary?" Svad moved further ahead, as if he had many moons ahead of him. "Sing my friend, let the world know Fenrir is coming." Zaiaku didn't need to ask if it was he whom Svad spoke, and he paused mid stride to release a haunting call. The song danced against the mountains, echoing far, and it wasn't just his own lyrics. The jester was joined by Svad, whose own song could only be described as bone chilling. It was not melodic, and sounded more like the bloody dying breath of another creature.
The caravan of misfits did not wait for a presence to greet them at the border, with Svadilfari leading now, in his misshaped walk, they continued further into the land. Whatever became of them was now in the hands of whoever sougt them out before they found Akira. It was never smart to wander in unannounced, yet the ancient strode in as though he had just returned home. Zai was now giddy with excitement, a smirk the only thing giving him away. His mitts carried him forward, matching stride with his ancestor. | |

| Thano had tried to humor his younger companion as they walked, but the brute remained distant and uninterested as they traveled, so the elder merely shrugged him off. He watched, unrestrained, as Anastasiya bantered back and forth with Zaiaku, her scent wreathing around the group of males. It reminded him of days long, long ago, when he would compete for her attention, for a chance to have his fun with her. He chuckled as he found himself inhaling her scent quite hungrily. However, though he was still drawn in by such earthly temptations, his interest in what was to come was far greater. Svad's horrid voice cut through the silence, and Thano grinned. They had reached Muerta at last, clambering over the icy rocks, higher and higher into the terra. As the other two let their voices ring out, Thano added his own to the mixture, and bland and gravelly tone that ended abruptly. Moving onward, he ignored the cold ache that crept up into his joints as they made their way further into the mountain territory.
Ehrgeiz had merely grunted at most of Thano's attempts to include him in any conversation. He wasn't interested in making friends or being pleasant. He just wanted to know what they were doing, and when they were going to execute their plans. He trudged along, his eyes wandering occasionally to Ana's bony haunches as she walked, tail swaying. The scent of her heat wafted heavily towards him, but he couldn't help wishing she were a younger fae, something better to look at. He was surprised at the way Zaiaku shared desire with her. In his life, he'd had little time to think over females, though her scent sparked something instinctive in him now. Shaking his head, he tried to rid such thoughts from his mind as he contemplated pursuing her. The mid-aged brute was already well-acquainted with her; besides, he had more important things to sort out, and he needed to find out what he could from that male.
As they came to the mountains, moving up steep hills and reaching the jagged, icy rocks, he felt even less desire to interact with anyone. Shuddering as cold air blasted them from above, he forced himself onward. As Svad moved up ahead, and the other elder bru became distracted, Ehrgeiz shifted positions until he was shoulder to shoulder with Zaiaku, although the older hessian was much larger than he was. "So, how did you end up with this decrepit bunch?" he asked, wondering if he'd got the brute's attention, "You seem to know the lands quite well... are you from here?" He wasn't sure how much to ask, or what to ask just yet. He needed to find out what Zaiaku knew about the wolves here. Thano had promised him that they would find the wolf he was looking for, and he had a hunch that the old brute knew things he had no way of knowing; he was sure they'd come to the lands of Fire and Ice for a reason, and perhaps Thano had known about Zai, and that he could provide answers. | |

| A smile played around Mercy's mouth listening to Stark talk. The canine had been a pretty constant site around the packlands and she saw why. Dragging the carcass she too halted while her mother sniffed the terra but her interest peaked when Winter came bounding through the forest, seemingly absent during the hunt. Her ears went flat and she put down her carcass to listen and catch her breath. Her mouths words lashed out and she felt the backlash of the sting, her skin tingling with the sensation of her mothers fury, even if it wasn't directed at her. Taking a breath she let the feeling wash off before glancing at Stark and shooting him a knowing smile. At least it wasn't them this time...it was actually pretty amusing watching Winter's face fall and her obvious distress. Ever since the incident when they were pups Mercy had never quite liked the Crimson's children. With that she felt little sympathy for the wolfess. Her eyes flicked over to see her sister Daenary's walking towards them and she turned from the scene. "Come to help have you?" She spoke teasingly but there was affection in her voice. "Where's your little friend?" She made a show of leaning to the side to check behind her sibling but there were no other wolves in sight. The appearance of the bru was nothing strange but the way he attached himself to Dae was. She saw Odin notice it as well, though she didn't expect him to speak on the matter.
Her ear flicked back catching the last of the scene between Akira and Winter. "Ah well, we could use the extra help now anyways. Mother is off to gut some poor sod." One last glance revealed that Akira had set off into the woods after Winter no doubt to scare the some wolf's bowels loose. Addressing Stark now she continued "No need to wait, you know my mother will do what she pleases when she pleases." With that she again hefted the goat carcass and began dragging...
******(Time lapse)***
Finally making it she dropped the goat and let out a long whoosh of air and dramatically flopped on the ground. Her stomach was roaring and having had goat in her mouth wasn't exactly helpful. Looking at those around she spoke up "We'll wait for Odin and Vengeance to eat." Seemed like a good plan, and as the highest ranked wolf here aside from her sibling she doubted anyone would contest it. | |

| Odin watched with amusement as Vengeance, quick as a viper, lunged for the birds only to miss but not fail when her paw smacked one to the ground. He did not avert his eyes as she dug viciously at the creatures head, and he approved her actions of tossing it aside instead of eating any. He was sure that the other birds would get to that soon enough. They looked wary for now but he saw the nervous flutter of wings, eager to leap in and savage their own kin. And though he felt amusement it did not shine through his face, it did not leak through his mouth. It was the sort of eerie quality about Odin that made others watch him and speculate just what was happening in the son of a sociopath's head. "I suspect we'll be fowl free for the rest of this trip, if they have any real intelligence."
He almost smiled again when she spoke of his mother but it was too unnatural a thing for him and died before it even grazed the surface. "Your mother is no walk in the woods either, but like i said don't worry. My mother thinks everyone is a fool." He wasn't even sure if Akira liked her own children but he did little speculating about her brain and let everyone else get on with it. She came over to help him and closing his jaws he hefted the goat though with two of them it took little energy. They would have to carry it quite a ways but it wouldn;t be too bad together. | |

| Vengeance smirked, nodding an agreement with his statement about the avians. Though impatience showed in their ready postures, they witheld themselves quietly now, waiting for the wolves to disperse before swooping in so carelessly. Then she heard his comment about her own mother, and she wondered what Odin and his siblings remembered about Crimson. She remembered a lot about her mother, and though much of it drew out mixed emotions as she recalled the savagery when they were very young, she still missed the femora. But, she tried to keep from remembering at all. It was just easier that way. Forcing any thoughts from her mind, she nodded again to Odin, the look in her eyes a little distant. With a good hold on the goat's neck, she hefted up her half of the goat while Odin took his share, and they began their ascent. A great deal of patience and cooperation was required as they made their way up, rock crumbling and remaining chunks of ice trying to thwart their efforts. When they had at last reached the top, where the goats had been taken down, she let go for a moment just to catch her breath, and also to gain her bearings. It wasn't long before she noticed the trail of blood that indicated where the other pack members had gone with their prizes. Glancing to Odin, she nodded her head in the direction that Mercy and Stark had gone, though she was certain he could have, and probably already had, figured it out on his own. She picked up the goat again, so they could finish dragging it to join the others. By the time they had reached the others, her muscles burned, but in a way that she rather enjoyed. Despite all that had happened, she was still thrilled with her catch, and glad she'd survived retrieving it. She glanced to Mercy and Stark, nodding her head in greeting to them, but saying nothing. Then she turned her gaze back to Odin, wondering what he would do now. Then she noticed Akira and her sister were not here, and she wondered also where they could be.
--------------------------
Anger pulsed through Winter's veins as she rushed through the terra, following her exact pawprints the way she'd came. She was acutely aware of Akira following not far behind, and it drove her to move faster and with more urgency. She veered off suddenly when she noticed where an unfamiliar set of tracks broke off from her own trail. Though the snow was melting considerably, even at these heights in the mountains, she knew now she would find him. But she wondered how far he had gotten. It didn't matter though. He probably hadn't thought they'd come looking for him. "His scent is still fresh!" she barked, glancing over her shoulder just briefly, "He can't have gone far." Determined to catch up to him, she strode onward, getting more riled with every breath as his scent filled her nostrils. The cliffs were drawing near when she finally saw his light blonde form in the distance. A nasty sneer formed across her mug, pearly ivories gleaming. Her icy blue orbs were wild with excitement now. She charged toward him full throtle, and though he fled faster than she could run, he soon ran out of space. He must have known that she would easily overtake him on the slippery cliffs, as he spun around to face her suddenly, jaws snapping defensively. Delighted once more by his nimble paws and quick wit, she let forth a devilish laugh, saliva frothing from her open jaws. Undaunted by his flashing fangs, she decided she would win this one with brute force alone. She knew the dangers, but she could not fail in front of Akira. She stormed into him head-on; his jaws latched into the front of her chest, but the force of impact sent them sprawling to the ground. Back on their paws they faced each other; his snout was wrinkled in defiance, while Winter's expression was wild and menacing. She could tell she'd knocked the breath from his lungs. Tail high and hackles spiking, she rushed forth again, aiming her jaws for a foreleg. Her teeth met in his wrist at an angle, while his snapped at the back of her scruff. Pain seared through her but it only added fuel to the fire. Growling hoarsely, she yanked his leg with extreme force, then swung her hefty body, hip first, toward his shoulder while she clung to his foreleg, setting him off balance. As soon as he hit the ground, her jaws snapped quickly at the inner part of his underarm, slicing the tender flesh. Furious ivories slashed across the top of her head. She let go to clash fangs with him. She felt his legs push against her, and he was about to slide out from her grip. Surging forward, she snatched at his flank, again feeling his teeth meet her face, narrowly missing her eyes. She knew she had a sensitive spot now, though, and clamped down harder. Then she pulled and shook, thrashing her head like she was trying to rip a stubborn piece of meat off of bone. His screams of pain drove her mad, and a furious snarl erupted from her. She kept her paws moving so that he couldn't free himself or keep his balance, making it impossible for him to retaliate as she dragged him around. Blood soaked her tongue, and she knew it wouldn't be long before she could latch on to a vital spot, if Akira didn't first.. Ooc: I did ask silvers if we could finish him off, she gave the ok. Also, left an opening for you if you wanted Akira to have some fun. | |

| Daenerys was lost in thought for the moment but her sister, Mercy's, voice brought her back to the task at hand. She flicked her ear and snorted. "My friend?" she glanced behind her and saw that her stalker...er.....companion was missing. She gave a shrug. "I don't know..." she stepped closer to her siblings. "Said he knew Killian." Her voice was soft and void of emotion for those who didn't know her...though Mercy and perhaps Odin would have caught the way her tongue seemed slightly heavy over Killian's name.
Eyes watched her brother, Odin, the offering for the birds to fight over was left. "Good idea.." she said grinning. Her eyes studied him. She wondered why she had clung to Killian and not to Odin like she had? Odin had that milky eye...but he was far from weak...quiet but not weak. She sighed. Odin was her brother too and she was glad he was still around even for all his peculiar mannerisms. Bending her head she would aid in the draggin of the prey.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Glad to rid the pending meal from her mouth for a moment, she spat out white goat hairs that had clung to her tongue and gums. Sneezing she shook and rid herself further of the nusance. Looking at her sister she smiled. She was so kind for being raised her. Most would have just dug in...Mercy had the rank as the alphess' daughter to fill her belly even before her brother was there. "I don't think Odin would mind." she reassured Mercy. Eye's searched for Downfall. Did he leave to find Killian? Or was he just ..? Bah...why did she care....she didn't care. Let him fall off a cliff...she snorted softly to herself and began to tear at the goats belly to take out some frustration. (And she just had rid herself of all that goat hair too lol) | |
| The air became cold and frosty as the sand beneath her paws thickened into hard, dark earth, the budding spring trees become stark and coniferous. The world was changing around them into something that still clung to winter, completely disregarding the seasons of the other lands. "Ahhh..." Ana moaned, her eyes rolling back as if just pleased, inhaling the sweet, pine air. Memories of her youth flooded to her. "This is the perfect land for us," she cooed, and loped up to Zaiku, her dark fur brushing with his. "You are brilliant, Zai... I, personally, very much appreciate your decision." She moaned again, low and pleasurable in her throat, though one yellowed, cataracted eye looked back towards the young male, Ehrgeiz. She swung her tail at him, her scent still wafting downwind, wondering if he would chance to take her. Nothing would happen if he decided to. She was too old to birth young. However, she enjoyed Zaiku's intellect, for it matched a taste few males could acquire. She wondered what other males she would find when they reached the pack site. | |
| The Rottweiler/German Shepherd mix dropped the goat once they got back, thinking back to Akira and Winter just minutes before. Part of him was amused, but the other half just wanted to eat. He was temporarily happy with the blood that had seeped into his mouth, though. the tang of iron would satisfy him until the higher ranked wolves made their appearance.
Briefly, he watched the interaction between the siblings, but his attention quickly went elsewhere. With a small yawn, he sat down, sitting unnaturally still. Still for Stark's standards, at least. He had to process an plan now that he didn't have anyone to remember information for him. Storing information so he could easily find it. It wasn't difficult, just too too much time than he normally cared to spare. | |
He returned to the mountains, but he was not the same wolf as he had left.
There was purpose in his step, confidence in his gait. He walked with his legs long and his blue eyes ahead, the cornea swirling tumultuous shades of cerulean, their bright, cyan hue lost. His shielding winter coat that had kept form the cold was shed, a sleeker, edgier pelt growing through. Julien felt as if he could own the earth beneath him, snatch Mother Nature by her loins and poison all she had. His thoughts swayed to a certain fae in particular, but he would not pursue that menacing idea. No, instead he reveled in the thought of it, and would replace her for someone that deserved to feel such bitterness. Yes, he was bitter, oh so bitter; like berries before they are ripe. But he was more than that. He was a changed man, if you could call him that.
He found her scent on the cold wind, near a mountain pass on the far side. The stony bru smirked to himself. It was like her to lead him through Muerta's Lookout Point to the far east, into the Crimson Pass. Ah well. She didn't know about the way he toyed with his mind, played with his heart; she was by no doubts a temptress. Before, his charm likely irritated her. Well. She wouldn't find that charm present anymore, at least what she had seen before. That was a waste. If did have any charm left, it was full of tricks. Back to a game he knew; one that he often played with Loki. He swerved between the evergreens, noticing a strange, new scent along the way. His eye lingered for a moment on four wolves entering, climbing the slopes to the Bloodstained Peak of the mountains, where they were probably expecting to find the white witch Akira. One of them, a female, had a strong, pungent scent of heat; he momentarily thought of taking her, but no, he had a goal. One that wasn't driven by such savage lust. Or perhaps it was. Regardless, he turned away from them and down into the Crimson Pass.
He heard the snarls and yelps before he saw anything, the metallic tang of fresh blood and his temptress' sharp scent flooding his nares. Julien followed the crimson in the snow; how ironically suiting for the name of the place, now that he thought about it. There were bits of blood here and there, like rose petals, and in other places there were huge, warm pools. Then, he saw her - a writhing, black vixen, eyes full of malice and rage. How she looked even more captivating when angry, furious, driven by her inner demons. Relentless. Julien could see the way that she had no restraint, and it recalled a memory from a battle a year or so ago. One could say that she was like her mother. Fascinating. However, he knew that she was not the only one in these lands to act without hesitation, delay. All of the wolves present had no second thoughts, including himself.
Sharp, blue eyes spotted an opening, one that invited another to charge in for the kill. How he wanted to jump in and snap his jaws around that wolf's neck, for whatever reason he deserved it. Julien was on edge, his heart beating quickly in his chest, a strange mix of lust and bloodthirst and revenge. So many emotions he still had trouble describing, but forget it, he was going to do as he pleased. That, and as much as he wanted to, he noticed the mighty form of Akira near him. He sauntered up beside her, like a shadow that forms behind one as the sun comes out from behind the clouds. He did not glance at her, his eyes locked on the deadly dance that Winter was performing, but he kept his posture low, still. "I believe she's waiting for you," he said in a cool, monotone voice; a casual suggestion. There was a reason Winter was putting on such a display, and why Akira was present for it. He didn't know the details, but that wasn't important.
