I walk a lonley road.... Raven10

Heat...shimmering heat was all that enveloped her as she padded quickly through the barren landscape. Her black coat that was once lush and heavy was now smooth and sleek and shining from months of living in this harsh environment. She paused and scanned the landscape. She was alone...again. It seemed an eternity ago when she had lain in the creek and Tyrone had come upon her.....and then the sandstorm...and he was lost. She gave a soft sigh and paused in her trek turning her steps to where she knew a tiny oasis lay. One that was no more than some shade scrubs and a shallow pool of water. She needed to get out of the heat.

Searching for Tyrone had made her familiar with these lands and she traveled among them easily. She looked like a different wolfess than what she had when she came to these lands. Harder, less soft, sleek, and there was a coolness to her eyes. She kept to herself. A lone wolf. The only company she had partaken in was that of that lone male for a while. She only escorted him through these lands for if she hadn't he surely would have died. The company had been a welcome thing for a little while but was glad to see him go. She felt he held more interest in her than she was ready for or wanted...plus her heart still lay with another.

Her footfalls slowed and her dark thorns flicked forward as she approached the pool. Nothing traveled this time of day save the snakes and other heat loving reptiles. The pool would be a sanctuary for those that did not. She approached silently and her black nose twitched to see if she could catch any scent. Rabbit...mouse...reptiles...nothing out of the ordinary. She pressed forward and let her blue eyes scan the area well as she slid up to the pool and bent her head drinking greedily of the cool wet liquid. She stepped in it's shallow depth and let her feet cool after the hot trek across the sands. She then slipped underneath a scrub that grew tall being so close to the water. The sparse shade underneath it was a relief to her obsidian hide. She lay and panted lightly to cool herself and let her blue eyes look into the pool...alone.

TYRONE

"Dammit! Get away from me, you bastards!" The heavy-set tri-colored brute raced across the desert, muscles flexing beneath the hot sun. A trio of buzzards chased after him, their long beaks poking at his skin, through his pelt and into his flesh. He had tried snapping at them and fending them off with his paws, but they were determined to torment him. He really couldn't understand why they were even attacking him, a living wolf for Fenrir's sake! Weren't buzzards scavengers? Tyrone didn't know or care, just that he seriously wanted them off his back. He had been running away from them for too long.

There it was! An oasis! Thank Fenrir! He hadn't seen one since the sandstorm. Tongue lolling freely out of his mouth, he barraged through what bush there was and tumbled into the small pond beneath a grove of palm trees. The buzzards squawked in fright as he rose up from the water, barking and snarling and flashing his fangs and batting his paws at them once more, using the water as his weapons. Their big black wings slapped him in the face and he snatched a mouthful of feathers before finally scaring them off, forcing them to take to the skies and prey on something else.

"That's right!" he barked at them as they flew away, his wide chest out and proud, tail high. "You fly away, you cowards!" It was then that he noticed that he... was not alone. Tyrone turned and his orange eyes locked with a fem... Raven! He stood there, his jaw dropping. He hadn't seen her either since the sandstorm... and suddenly, guilt overwhelmed him for leaving her alone. Although now, she looked like she could take care of herself - lean muscle, a haughty complexion, a thinner coat... like him, she had grown fit for the desert. He had changed little, burning off most of his fat and turning it into burly muscle, becoming quite the strong brujo indeed. "Raven..." he said, his voice in awe, unable to believe he would ever come across her again. "Is... Is that you?"

I walk a lonley road.... Raven10

Raven had dozed and awoke to barking and snarling. When she first heard it she thought she was dreaming. She watched him come....HIM...after all this time he just strolls back into her life. She lay there staring as in disbelief. Was that really Tyrone? She watched him battle against the buzzards...buzzards really didn't like him at all did they?....and then he saw her laying under the patch of scrub. Her blue eyes burning into him like twin blue suns. She stood. Her coat black as night and shining in the harsh desert sun.

She just looked at him at a loss for words. He didn't seem to carry the burden on his heart that she had. She felt shame and anger and felt the fool. Here she was looking for him all these months. Her black tail flicked and she took a slow breath trying to remain calm...perhaps she was wrong.

"Well look what the buzzard's drug in." She said her voice very much the same as when he last heard it. She didn't move toward him nor away she was on the fence. Hurt, angry, but glad to see his familiar form at the same time. Her heart fluttered.

"Where have you been?" she asked bluntly.

TYRONE

Her ice-blue eyes sliced into his heart, slashing it like a well-sharpened blade. Raven's voice was calm, but... her eyes betrayed all her angry emotions. Triangular auds pinned back and his tail hung. Water dripped off his long muzzle and fur, not wanting to shake and get her all wet... If he hadn't already, with all the splashing he had done. He sighed, knowing that she would see through any lie he told her. Not that he was really on planning to lie - that would just be stupid, even a brute like him knew that. Though it hurt, he kept eye contact with her. "I was looking for you," he said quietly, hoping his reply wouldn't anger her further. "I tried looking through the sandstorm, but I couldn't find you. And when it was over, I searched all over this desert. I tried following your scent when the buzzards attacked me, and I wound up here by accident. So I guess I just got lucky."

Tyrone half-wondered if she had been looking for him, too. The only reason he had really been looking for her was because beyond the pack that had abandoned him, he... didn't really have any other friends or companions. It was sad, really, but it was the life he lived. He had been hoping she was looking for him... then again, at the same time, he had almost hoped she wasn't. If anything, his arrival was just a chance for her to yell at him and berate him for being an idiot...

I walk a lonley road.... Raven10

Raven looked at him as she looked into his orange eyes as he spoke. He was looking for her. Weeks since the sandstorm and he was looking for her too. How could they have missed eachother? A scent? A sign? Anything? She felt her tail go limp her anger fading. "You were?" she said her voice soft and almost unsure at first. "I was looking for you too." She offered and shifted her dark pillars. He had grown on her at the oasis, in which he called himself king. When the sandstorm hit. She was so lost, it came up so fast. She remembered calling out for him as the sand whipped past. She had been so distraught and then the loneliness came. Days went by and no sighn of him. Weeks came and went and her body hardened as she ran the desert looking for him. And now the fates brought him back to her. Could it be?

She took a step toward him and then stopped and looked down to the sand and up again blinking her blue eyes which heat had softened. "I missed you." She said softly barely a whisper on the breeze.

"I'm sorry, what was that?" Tyrone said, scratching at his ear with his hind leg. A small minnow fell out of it, splashing back into the pond where it belonged. "Well... Yeah, I missed you and stuff. I mean, you're really the only one out here, so I guess I don't really have a choice but to be stuck with you, huh?" The tri-hued brute cracked a cocky smile at her that probably deserved him a slap, but he moved on, walking out of the pond and shaking the water from his coat. Droplets went flying in all directions (and not surprisingly, probably on Raven herself) and he curled his tail high on his back, as if he were King of the Oasis again. "Now!" he announced. "I don't know about you, but man I am hungry! I haven't eaten for days!"

I walk a lonley road.... Raven10

Raven blinked as she heard Tyrone completely disreguard her statement and flicked her ears back. Her mouth dropped open slightly and she felt anger flare up in her heart. She flinched away from the wet that he sprayed as he shook his tri colored pelt. Her sapphire eyes narrowed with hurt and she flicked her tail. She licked her lips to moisten them. "Well since you have no choice but to be stuck with me." Her voice cool and haughty . "I suppose you should find something to eat on your own then....because I have eaten already." Beautiful angry lies fell from her tongue.

Raven hadn't eaten but she was too angry to eat at the moment now. All this time and he dismissed her as being his only option. Well she could make herself not an option at all. She turned and flicked her tail and padded to the far end of the tiny oasis. See how he liked being disreguarded like that...hmph! And she worried over him and searched for him and and and......Raven was about ready to unleash but she bit her tongue. She wouldn't let him know how much she had worried now. She felt stupid and guilty that perhaps she saw something that wasn't there...perhaps it was like before....she shook her head and dove under a scrub and stretched out in it's meager shade.

TYRONE

Tyrone's ears perked up, turning around to face her with his tail giving off a little wag. "You did?" he said, a smile breaking out on his face, and he began salivating. "Oh man, is there any left? I'm so hungry... The last thing I ate was an armadillo, y'know. But an armadillo's about as good as turtle... which if you've never eaten a turtle, is pretty much chicken bones. And if you've never had chicken bones... Um... It'd be like chewing on twigs. In other words, not very good. But I mean I know something doesn't have to be good in order to eat it, but I'd prefer my food to taste good, because otherwise, that's just gross, y'know what I mean?" He wagged his tail again like a stupid pup, and then stopped. She didn't even have to say it, but she wasn't going to share with him. He could see it in her eyes. He sighed and turned away. "Nevermind. I'll find myself something to eat."

The big wolf walked through the bushes, sniffing out any source of meat. Mice, rabbit... anything. He needed to focus on getting them food, but... Something felt so weird inside him. Like he had eaten something that was still alive, and it was squirming and writhing and dancing inside his stomach. "Maybe it's diarrhea..." he murmured to himself, walking along. But he knew it wasn't that. It was something else. It had something to do with why he was running his mouth off to Raven, and why he was so determined to find them food, but he didn't know what it was. Instinct, maybe...? "Hell if I know..."

Tyrone stopped, nose twitching. On one of the palm trees, was a giant, black... spider-looking thing. Instantly, he began salivating again. The tarantula didn't seem to have taken notice of him, so it probably wouldn't be bothered by much. He looked over his shoulder, not sure if Raven was following or not, and he yelled, "Hey Raven! Come over here! I found a giant bug!" While insects weren't the greatest delicacy in the world, it was better than nothing. And he was starving.

Raven couldn't believe his comments. He seemed so much more a pup than he did before. Was she that stupid to think...oh dark wolfess your mind must have been fried by the sun surely. "No none left." She called from her place in the shade and flicked her ears back. She was hungry but she was too stubborn to tell Tyrone that now. She ignored him and then looked up when he called her again to come see some giant bug. "Giant bug...hmmm..yeah..no thanks." she said and watched him from her vantage point in the scrub. "Enjoy it all by yourself Tyrone." she huffed and lay her head upon her outstretched paws as she watched him.

Could she have really been mistaken about Tyrone? How he made her laugh and feel somewhat alive again after having her heart ripped from her chest? She sighed and shook her head slightly....perhaps she was meant to be alone.

TYRONE

Tyrone flicked an ear back. So she didn't want the bug, eh? He snorted. "Well. More for me, I guess." He turned away and set his sights on the tarantula... Oh, how good he imagined it tasting, saliva already dripping from his lips. He crouched down low on the sand, not knowing how well a spider's reflexes or eyes or really anything about how a bug worked, and he crept up behind it, licking his chops. The giant tarantula did not even move. He waited a moment. One... two... three! Tyrone pounced and splayed his talons to catch the spider, opening his jaws wide, but the tarantula scattered up the tree at the last second and he ran smack into the trunk, hitting his head and falling embarrassingly onto his back.

Fantastic. The last thing he needed was to look like a complete oaf in front of some girl he was just trying to impress. Tyrone sighed, lying on his back and closing his eyes. Oh, the shame...

[OOC: Sorry about the wait, Fossykins. I've had some really dramatic things happen lately in my life, and they are just now starting to die down...]

I walk a lonley road.... Raven10

Raven heard his snort and licked the end of her nose. "I guess so.." She said softly and watched him from her shady place underneath the scrub. She didn't fancy eating the hairy little arachnids anyway...not unless she was desperate and she was far from desperate. She would wait until evening when the juicy morsels would come from their hiding places for a drink. Sapphire eyes watched Tyron crouch low and sprung....head first into a tree. She couldn't help but laugh and shake her head.

Her small indulgence of humor made it feel like it did before the sandstorm. Tyrone was always making her laugh. She smirked and parted her lips. "I don't think the tree appreciated that as hard as your head is." She teased slightly and then her tail switched. Then she remembered. Oh yeah she is supposed to be mad at him. Her smile fell and she rested her head back on her soot colored paws.

The tri-colored brute's brow furrowed. "You callin' me stupid?" he grunted, rolling over onto his stomach, ears perked. His orange eyes were fiery, demanding an answer. He genuinely wanted to know. She was just sitting there - one moment, she would be laughing at him, and the next, it was like he didn't exist. She was confusing the hell out of him. He then stood up, not walking towards her or away from her. All he was doing was trying to impress her. He lowered his head, eyes still locked on. "You think I am, don't you? Well, I'm sorry I'm not the smartest owl in the trees. If you want somebody smart, find another oasis," he snorted, now looking away and glaring at the sand.

Raven looked back to him. He was acctually accusing her of calling him stupid. She stood and flicked her ears back, she saw the demanding stare in his eyes and she flicked her ebony tail. "I was teasing you Tyrone. The last time we met you could take a joke." She said. "Find someone else..." She repeated and her hackles came up. "DO you know just how long I looked for you? DID YOU even look for me? Or wonder where I was?" She demanded and then feeling rather insignifigant to him she narrowed her blue eyes and did a stupid thing.

"Forget it...." She said cooly and then turned her obsidian paws and padded out into the heat of the desert. "Enjoy your oasis alone." She mumbled under her breath feeling more than heat stinging her eyes. He acted like he didn't miss her at all...or cared.... The sand was hot upon her feet and she regretted padding away from the oasis. All this time she looked for him and now he acted like that. She was too stubborn to turn back. "I am meant to be alone." She said softly to herself and her ears lay flat against her skull.

I walk a lonley road.... 5078765280_bff498deab

Anger bubbled in Tyrone's veins - curse this hot desert, it was making them both crazy. He snorted. "Fine. Walk away. Again. I don't know how to tell you anymore than I already do that I want you in my life. It'd be nice. I enjoy your company. But I'm sorry, because, it just seems like you don't want mine." Hurt reflected in his orange eyes. What would it take to be good enough for her? She wanted somebody strong, smart, handsome... He didn't know if he fit into these required categories. Sure, she had come looking for him. Why, though, bewildered him.

He watched her go out into the desert. Should he bother chasing her? No... He was done with chasing her. If she wanted him, she would come back. The tri-colored brute wandered into the shade, flopping down onto his belly and trying to sleep, even though it was the middle of the day. He was bored. Tired. Angry. "Stupid bitch..." he muttered beneath his breath. These were the reasons why he knew he shouldn't fall in love, or even try to.

I walk a lonley road.... Raven10

Raven heard his stinging words as she padded foolishly out into the dry unforgiving heat. "I left? What the hell? I just spent the last however many blasted weeks looking for that son of a bitch." She spat, venom lacing her tone. It had cut her deep. Him acting all non challant like she wasn't important enough to worry about. She would never be good enough for anyone....*He* didn't want her...Tyrone didn't want her...no one wanted her. She gave a soft whimper as the dark thoughts hit her hard.

The sun was beating down and she sighed. She couldn't travel in this. Her dark form now looking like a mirage for any that were looking stopped. She turned and looked back at the oasis and her ears pinned to her skull. She couldn't go back there. Tyrone didn't want her. She was a nuisance...and she thought....her heart ached. She was so stupid to think that perhaps he had some sort of feelings for her as well. She shook her head. There was a small pile of rocks just outside the oasis. She turned her feet and headed to them. They would provide a little shade. Dusk would be fast approaching and then she could drink and move on....alone.

She blinked her eyes and settled on the shady side of the rocks then lay down and put her head on her paws and gave a soft whine. She should have drowned herself that day.......the day that she and Tyrone met....then she wouldn't be feeling like her heart was ripped open once again. She gave a heavy sigh and withdrew into herself. Sleep...she should try to sleep...but she could still smell him from here...

I walk a lonley road.... 5078765280_bff498deab

"And there you go again, walking off..." Tyrone grumbled, rolling over onto his side so he wouldn't have to see her rear end walk off into the desert. She wanted to fall in love with dust and buzzards? Well, let her go right ahead. He huffed. He didn't need this kind of tension in his life. Tyrone closed his eyes, inhaling the crisp scent of the oasis instead of the hot emptiness of the desert. This was his home. That's all he needed to care about...

--

The sand burned beneath his paws, and the sun glared off the desert like a shining mirror. He kept his head down, walking against the arid winds, relying on his internal clock to guide him. It would do him no use to look up and see the mirage of an oasis or a line of trees or mountains. His tongue lolled out of his mouth. He was so thirsty... How could anyone survive this wretched heat?

A femme's scent caught his nose. The solid black brute turned in her direction, unable to open his eyes, lest he be blinded by the sun. "Excuse me," he called out to her, his head still down. It may not have been the most friendly-looking disposition, but it was the best he had at the moment, his travel made weary by the cruel desert. "But... Do you know where any water is?" He couldn't tell how long she had been there, or if she was dying. He was just glad that he relied on his nose instead of his eyes, or else he probably would have mistaken her for a mirage.

I walk a lonley road.... Raven10

Raven's ears flicked forward as a voice came to her ears. Her blue eyes opened and she spied a dark hessian. Her ears swiveled on her head. Usually she wasn't caught so unawares...her thoughts were too tied up in Tyrone and she hadn't heard the bru coming. She lept to her feet and she eyed him warily. His stance was odd but his question was one that she could answer. "Yes." she said and pointed with her nose. You could see the tops of the scrub trees from here even yet. "Over there...see the trees." she said. "There is water and shade..." she said and not saying 'and a big stupid wolf who didn't care a lick about her.' "It's a nice place to rest. The water is cool." She said still watching him with untrusting eyes.

The dark-hued hessian nodded in response. He didn't mean to pose a threat, but he could tell by the tone of her voice that she thought he was, but she was still willing to help him. How curious. "Thank you," he said in gratitude. "My name is Darrel. If I may ask... Why are you not at the oasis? This heat... It's too fierce for any wolf." If anything, he preferred to travel by night, but his journey was urgent and important. He had to travel both night and day, unfortunately.

I walk a lonley road.... Raven10

Raven's blue eyes studied the brute some more. She relaxed only slightly at his thanks and flicked her tail. "My name is Raven." She offered Darrel. "I was at the oasis but..." she trailed off. "Well let us just say an aquaintance of mine is there and we are not seeing eye to eye at the moment." she offered. Really it was none of his business though she felt the need to explain. "The shade here is cool. Come eveing I will come and drink and head out." she said. "But feel free to quench your thirst Darrel. This is the only oasis in leauges."

She flicked her gaze toward the oasis and twitched her nose. She could still scent Tyrone. Her ears flicked back and she gave a soft sigh, her dark tail hanging limp behind her for a second.

Darrel cocked his head, curious. An acquaintance? Strange, there were two wolves nearby. He nodded once more at Raven's words, but before he headed for the oasis, he turned to her again. "I'm sorry to keep bothering you, but I was wondering if you've seen a wolf I'm looking for. He's a tri-colored brute with a bit of a nasty tongue. My pack has sent me to fetch him," he said, glancing at the oasis, nose twitching. Raven was right - there was someone else there, a brute. Hmm...

I walk a lonley road.... Raven10

Raven's ears came forward but she said nothing. "A tri colored bru with a nasty tongue you say?" She said. "Why?" Curiosity flooded her blue eyes. What did Tyrone do now!? She suddenly wondered and thought she really shouldn't care one way or the other why a pack was looking for him...but yeah...she did...cursing herself all the way. She flicked her tail. "Is he dangerous?" she asked to see if Darrel would leak more information out if she prodded with the assumption she wanted to know for her own safety.

Darrel snorted. "Dangerous? Hardly. He's more of an idiot than anything else, but you see... He's caused a lot of trouble from the pack he hails from," he replied, tassel flicking impatiently as he watched the oasis with eager, yellow eyes. They slid to the femme's dark and luxurious form, very similar to his own, but female. "You really have no need to worry, Miss Raven. Just allow business to be business, and you shan't be harmed."

Darrel gave her a small bow of respect, and as he turned to head into the oasis, he saw that the brute that had been lying in it had emerged. Tyrone, the tri-colored hessian Darrel had been looking for, had finally made his appearance. Darrel grinned toothily. "Well hello there, brother. So nice to see you again," Darrel said. Tyrone's orange gaze locked with his yellow, and the heavy brujo raised an eyebrow. He continued to approach, so that he stood between him and Raven. "Fuck off, Darrel. The last thing I need is for you to screw up the life I'm trying to make here," he grumbled. All of his annoyances with Raven aside, he knew he'd rather be with her than go back with Darrel.

"You call this a life, Tyrone?"
Darrel chuckled, not at all fazed by Tyrone's seriousness. "Come now. You know where you belong. In the pack. Our pack."

Tyrone shook his head. "No. Not anymore. I like being a loner. I can do what I want, whenever I want... And there's no war, either. I'm sick of war, and you know that. So just leave me alone."

I walk a lonley road.... Raven10

Raven's ears swiveled again as Darrel snorted and explained. "And I won't be harmed...." she said the words and narrowed her icy blue eyes at his back after he turned to head toward the oasis. Her curiosity was piqued now. She silently followed but took the route where the hessian wouldn't be able to see or smell her but she would be able to watch. She really didn't want anything bad to happen to Tyrone. She cared about that idiot.

She slunk through the sparse undergrowth like a shadow and her eyes fell upon Tyrone and the wolf, Darrel. Brothers? she thought silently as she watched. Tyrone belonged in a pack....she wondered why Darrel wanted him back.

A snarl came to Darrel's lips, curling with impatience. "You're a part of the pack because you made a pact, brother. And it's a pact you can't just run away from because 'you don't feel like it'." Darrel was only slightly smaller than Tyrone, but it was plain to see that beneath his dark coat he had just the same amount of muscle, the same amount of strength. He pushed his face into Tyrone's, which remained as stony as it had ever been. "You think you can run away from all the blood you've shed, the wolves you've killed? Running from your past has never done a wolf any good. You know why? Because whoever you meet, they'll always want to know your story, where you came from. And, well... You can tell them lies..." Darrel began to circle Tyrone, keeping a close watch on him from all angles. Tyrone followed his gaze, not allowing him to see his back. "And sure, they may be gallant fools and believe them, but you'll know the truth. And guess what? I know the truth too. And truth is, Tyrone... You're a killer."

Tyrone was now on edge. His tri-colored fur stood on end, his hackles were raised, and his muscles tense. He didn't let his eyes leave his brother's. "You know nothing about me, Darrel. I'm not a killer. I never was. Sure, I may have been part of the Brotherhood of War, but... but I never harmed anyone innocent. Killers kill everyone, including the innocent."

"So what are you trying to call yourself now, a hero? A vigilante? What, Tyrone, what?"

"I'm trying to tell you that that life is one I no longer live!" Tyrone snapped at Darrel, who jumped back with hardly a look of surprise. "Why did you come to find me anyways, Darrel?"

"I came to tell you that the Brotherhood needs you back, Tyrone," Darrel replied, at which his voice turned sympathetic. "Sweet's no longer with us, he died not long after you left. Miranda's been desperate to be with you again, her heart just isn't in the fight anymore without you as her partner. And Lenzelle... Well, he'll always be the hot-blooded killer we know him as. But we're the fighters of our pack, and without you... We're missing a vital cog in our machine, you understand?"

Tyrone spit a sticky lugie at Darrel's feet. "Yeah, I understand. And you need to understand that no matter what, I'm not coming back... No matter how desperate Miranda is, the bitch. You of all wolves should know how much I hate her."

Darrel remained composed. "Fine then. But, my request for you to come back is still present... The Brotherhood will give you about two weeks, I presume, to return. If not... Well, you know what happens then, don't you?" Darrel smiled wickedly, and strode off into the desert. It was then he was gone, vanishing into the blinding heat and dust. He hadn't even bothered for a drink or rest.

Tyrone closed his eyes, memories blurring in his mind... Memories he didn't want to remember, things he had tried to forget. He flopped down onto his stomach, his paws covering his eyes in grief. He didn't know what to do.

I walk a lonley road.... Raven10

The words she heard. Surely they really couldn't be talking about Tyrone. The Tyrone she knew wasn't a killer...he was a happy go lucky wolf that had taught her how to smile again...and how to feel anger to a male again...she thought secondly. She stayed quiet and listened. She heard about the killing, the brotherhood, the fea Miranda....she felt a hard knot grow in her throat at that. Darrel spoke of her like she was Tyrone's mate. Her breathing stopped for a few heartbeats and it resumed again when he said he hated her. Joy shouldn't have been a feeling that Raven felt at that comment. But it was.

Darrel finished his words, a threat ending them, and then icy blue eyes watched him pad away over the dunes. She watched Tyrone drop and cover his face with his paws. He looked as if he was in utter despair. She licked her dry nose and gave a sigh. She then walked on silent paws to his side and would gently lean down and nose behind his ear. "Tyrone...' She said softly. A lot more gently than her words had been before. This time there was no venom in them. No hurt. Just genuine concern.

She sat down on ebony haunches and waited for him to speak. She heard what Darrel said but wanted to hear the truth of the matter from Tyrone himself.
