| "IF they are still at the pool, what I find higly possible, then we best approach them from two directions, and one drives them up to the other." Bhaal grinned. He hadn't had much expirience with hunting in group, so this was new for him too. "Question is, who will drive them up and who will... catch?"
He flicked an ear, as suddenly he could hear a deer's bray sound over them. That meant one was close. And in trouble. Good. "Change off plans, quick." Then he stormed away, into the night, headed towards the sound. He could taste the mettalic tnag of blood in the air, and he almost shivvered with yoy.

| Bhaal saw that Kiaki had started to run left to him, but he could smell the tang of blood in the air. The deer was injured, this could make this hunt far more intressting. After he crossed over the top of a hill, he could see why the deer had been injured. A long gash runned from his left flank to his left hind leg, crippling the animal. By the look of it, it seemed a male, and a broken of horn declared why he had been injured. He had fought another male for dominance, and lost. The wound was seriously hindering the animal in it's movements, it had no chance to escape. But that didn't mean it would be an easy kill, desperate bucks tended to defend themselves, and even wounded, where formidable oponents. Altough life in the desert was hard, this one had been well-fed, and probably weighed more than Bhaal and Kiaki together. Bhaal slowed, and then halted. A new plan was already forming in his head. If Kiaki could distract the buck long enough for Bhaal to jump, He could easily go for its throat and pull it down. Then they could work together to strangle the animal. | |

Kiaki saw Bhaal slow down from the corner of her eyes, and she continued to race forward. The buck came into plain sight and she saw the damage that had previously been done. Metallic blood hit the tip of her tongue and filled her nares. Kiaki closed her mouth and sprinted, headlong towards the deer. Once she had aligned herself with its position, she steered a hard right and let out two sharp barks that seemed to crack the air. She buck raised its head, ears twitching, and ran. The chase was on! She hoped Bhaal was ready and waiting for the capture. The buck was fast, but although Kiaki was small, she was fast. She snapped at the deer's injured leg playfully, urging it to run faster, steering behind and herding it towards Bhaal and its death.

| Bhaal saw the buck approaching and readied himself for a jump. The buck was coming fast at him, and Bhaal had to time his jump if he didn't wanted to get caught on its hornes or get trampled underneath it's hooves. He propeled himself at the buck, and caught it at the neck mid-air. He quickly snapped his powefull jaws together, and clinged himself to the side of the buck. He had jumped a little too early, adn he felt the animal horns slashing a gash at his flank. Bhaal used the flooding pain as a stimulant. Although the buck was strong, Bhaal weight slowly but suerely drove the beast against the ground. The buck tried to get Bhaal of him by rolling over the ground, but Bhaal holded his ground, abnd the buck only succeeded in hitting him with a kick of his front legs. Bhaal felt the air being pushed out, more like rammed out, of his longs, but he didn't released. He merely groaned and started to bite even harder. Then, with a beautyfull snap, the throat of the buck snapped. Blood started to pour into the animals longs, and seconds later, Bhaal could see the life fading out of it's eyes. | |

Kiaki ran up to Bhaal and the buck, slowing down as she neared, panting slightly, a wide grin firmly set on her face. However, as she approached Bhaal, she saw that he had been injured. The Buck's undamaged antler had gased Bhaal's pelt and flesh, exposing sticky blood. "You're hurt." She said, coming closer to examine him, stepping over the mangled legs of their kill. Her ears stood relaxed, but her tail drooped, her grin no longer visible.

| Bhaal grinned "It's nothing, just an new scar amongst the many." He had seen her smile disappear when she had realised he had been wounded. Bhaal himself barely administrated the wound, he had survived far worse, and under his thick fur, numerous scars lied. Some like-wise this one, other petty and some even worse. "In any case I am better of then that buck." he said his lips forming a grin. Then, he turned upon it, ready for his first decent meal in weeks. He fell upon the dead animal like an eagle on a rabbit. His tooth sank deep into the fresh flesh, tearing it apart, and he started gnawing towards the heart. It wasn't the most tasty part, that was the liver, but Bhaal always had eaten the heart of opponents who had been able to wound him. Even wolves. Bhaal quickly supressed upcoming memories and the rage that would follow afterwards, instead focussing him on his feast. He ate his belly full, with fresh juicy and warm meat. | |

| When Bhaal glanced to her, he saw on her face she wasn't used to such wounds. He smiled, his belly full of warm meat. "I am going back to the den, that fight has exhausted me a bit." He also wanted to take care of his wounds. He would have to lick them clean. Otherwise they could infect, and he already faced such a sickness before, and didn't want to encounter it again. He turned, not waiting for Kiaki, and started running at a low pace towards the den. When he arrived, he quickly slipped inside, moaning when his wounded flank made contact with the narrow tunnel-way. Inside, he sat down and started livking his wounds. He had a problem however: the wound was running long, to his back. He couldn't reach that... | |

Kiaki stood by the buck as Bhaal ran back in the direction of the den, and the oasis. Perhaps she was becoming a burdan, or a bore. She was very thankful of the help he had offered, and she started walking back towards the den at a steady pace, debating her return to it. She was incredibly grateful of his hospitality, but didn't know what position she held in this.... friendship. As Kiaki neared the den, she could smell his scent fill her nares and she smiled to herself, closing her eyes as she walked. She needed the company, the shelter, the water, and the food. She needed him. To stay close. Yet, the thought of her becoming a burden weighed on her thoughts. Stubbron, she pushed the idea from her mind and entered through the narrow tunnel and into the den. She saw Bhaal sitting, cleaning his wounds, struggling to reach his back. They looked worse in this dim light, and Kiaki walked towards him. "Here, let me." She said, and she slowly ran her tongue up the length of his wound, tasting salty, metallic blood as she began to clean.

| Bhaal groaned a little when he felt her tongue touched the wound. After a few seconds however, it became a good pain. At first he had seen her only as an inexpierenced wanderer, one who had stumbled in this unforgiving enviroment without any knowledge of places where they could find food, shelter and water. She had appeared more of a burden than a help. But, now he had seen her in action, he decided her help could be invaluable. She runned faster then him, alot faster. That made it easy to catch quicker prey, the ones the would eat more frequent, like hares. And she could help him with all sorts of tasks he couldn't do alone, like now, or he just didn't wanted or deemed necesary, like cleaning the dens. He closed his eyes and let her continue her work. | |

| When Kiaki had finished, Bhaal just let him slip on the ground, not wanting to make the effort to go lay himself somewhere else. He turned his head towards Kiaki, who walked to another part of the den, and laid herself low. "Thank you." he said, before turning his head, and grabing an old bone off the ground. Some way he was angry. Not at Kiaki, but just at himself. The stubborn past came back above, and memories long hoped to be forgotten came back.He vented his anger at the bone, before it snapped under his deadly torment. He wanted to do something, anything. Just diversion, so he didn't had to think about those pesky memories. Butr he couldn't. He was wounded. Suddenly he became very angry on that stupid buck. Desperatly seeking an outway of his tormenting memories, he talked to Kiaki. "So, what now? Where are you headed for?" | |

"I didn't have any home in mind." Kiaki looked around the den. Compared to what she had, or feared to have, this place was borderline perfect. "Call me a pessimist, but I had almost convinced myself I'd die without finding a home." The land outside the small tunnel was scarce and dangerous for a small wolf like Kiaki. Although she could run fast, she wasn't the strongest of her kind, and not having a sense of direction or feeling about the Lone Lands could be perilous.
Kiaki sat up, clearing a space around her. She pawed at another bone, turning it continuously over on the floor, absent-mindedly playing with it. It was still dark outside, and the temperature of the desert-like land had dropped considerably. She shivered slightly, curling her tail towards her ankles like a soft blanket.

| Bhaal snapped the second bone, but didn't felt joy in it, so he stood up and shook of dust. "Well, if you want you can stay here. But, I warn you, life in these parts is harsh, and every day will be hard work. But if you don't feel for that, I suppose I could bring you to one of the packs." He laid himself back down, not wanting to put strain on his wounds. He also overthought her words, and wondered why she had expected to die in these lands. | |

| "Well, an extra paw always comes in hand, so I suppose you could stay." Then he closed his eyes, and waited for the sleep to overcome him, as it always did. This time, however, it was different. He saw flashes of his past as pups, when he had played with his younger brother. He turned in his sleep, and rage sometimes came up, but came pressed back under by mournfull sorrow. It wouldn't be a good night for Bhaal. | |

| As time ticked on, Kiaki heard Bhaal becoming restless in his sleep. She wasn't used to resting in a den, and sleep took its time to reach her, but once it did, she slept a dreamless sleep. Perhaps happiness was the wrong word to describe her feelings, but compared to her previous travels, Kiaki felt at home for the first time in a long time. Even if Kiaki was still a guest in Bhaal's life, she was comfortable, and was determined to contribute her efforts. After Bhaal's kindness, he deserved it. | |

| When Bhaal opened his eyes, hefelt completly restless, not sleepy, just not at ease. He stood up slowly, and walked towards the entrance of the den, and slipped outside. He walked towards the pool, and quenched his thirst. Meanwhile, he had been pondering his dreams, and found it very unusual. He wondered what caused them. Maybe the wounds? Or the sudden social interaction. He turned his head towards where they had left the buck. Crows and buzzards where sheering overhead. He started to walk towards it, maybe he could salvage some meat. | |

| Kiaki blearily opened her eyes to find that she was alone. This didn't bother her too much, and she rolled onto her side and closed her eyes once more. She didn't go back to sleep, just rested for a while longer, but she wasn't eager to get up yet. The den was lighter than it had been hours ago, and she covered her muzzle with her paw.
Sighing, she came to a decision. She stood up and stretched, yawning widely, then walk around the den picking up various bones, feathers, and twigs, stacking them on on e side of the den to make a clear space. Slowly, the den appeared larger and the clutter was moved, and only the dust remained. Kiaki was too afraid to remove any items, but at least the inside of the den looked slightly cleaner.

| Bhaal arrived at the carcass, and let of a sharp growl to scare of the scavengers. He snapped to a stubborn buzzard, and then examinated the rests. It seemed most of it had been eaten, but Bhaal could just discern a larger piece of flesh, protected by the ribbs, that had been left alone. Three, four snaps at the ribs, and the cracked. Then Bhaal pulled the part out, and started dragging it to the den. He wanted to build up reserves, but the task was heavy, and his wounds slightly hurted at the effort.
He arrived inside the den, and immediatly noticed something had changed, he just couldn't see what. Not that it cared him, anyway. He dragged the meat into a corner, and hid it under some rubble, to protect it from scavengers. "Just in case we don't find or catch anything today" he said, before turning towards Kiaki.

| Bhaal turned, his mouth bloody from the hard work. Yes, his back hurted. But he didn't care. And why should someone ask help for something they can do themsleves? To Bhaal, that's just being lazy. But that was just Bhaal. "Well, it wasn't that hard." he replied, before laying down. Dragging meat in the sun was exhaustive, but he was used to such works. He just wasn't used to the fact he hadn't to do everything by himself. "Well, if you really want to make yourself usefull, why don't you go hunting or something?" he said, before turning and laying his head to rest on his paws. | |

Kiaki tilted her hair, narrowing her eyes as Bhaal settled himself down. "I suppose." She had been a lone hunter for a while to no avail, she doubted she could find anything now. But she owed her assistance. She walked past the pile of old bones, placing her paw on one and sliding it across the floor of the den, leaving a trail in its wake as the dust cleared behind it. That should be a large enough hint. She scrambled up the tunnel of the den and exited.
Before attempting to hunt, she walked towards the oasis for a drink first. She lapped up the water as it quenched her thirst and listened to the sound of silence. She sensed no prey nearby, and once she was done her drink, she lifted her head to the sky, blinking the sun from her eyes and sniffing at the air. The breeze was drifting slowly, so it would take a while for any scent to reach her. Sighing, she set off at a trot and away from the den.
