| Bhaal walked over to the shallow hole, and inspected it for hidden dangers such as snakes. "Yes, some help with digging out this ...hole would be nice." he replied. When she mentioned to hunt, Bhaal had to supress the urge for going out. If he would hunt now, his wounds would be opened again, and the whole healing process would have to start anew. "I am still in no shape to hunt, if you want, you can try go fetch something, and I'll dig out a sleeping place for us both, on acount you share of course." He sat down, and bent forward to the cool water, quenching his thirst. He then bent back up, and looked into Kiaki's eyes. | |

As Bhaal spoke, Kiaki gazed at his wound. He was right; he couldn't go hunting yet. As they locked eyes, she tried to work out what he was thinking and how he was feeling, but it was near impossible. He had obviously had many years of practice hiding his emotions. There was so little they knew about each other, but judging by his strong exterior and multiple other scars, she guessed that his part had a deep story, and not all that pleasant.
Kiaki blink, realizing that she was staring into his orbs and allowing her mind to wander. She looked down, heat rising in her neck, knowing that she had been staring for longer than one normally would. But then she looked up. He hadn't turned away either. Perhaps she was over-thinking things and time hadn't been as long as she had judged.
She faced a dilema. Help Bhaal dig the den, and even he admitted he could use her help, or hunt alone, possibly failing to catch any prey, returning with no food and no help with the den. Her stomach growled quietly, but she chose to ignore it. "How hungry are you?" She asked, using his answer to help her make a decision.

| Bhaal glanced at Kiaki when she started helping him. He supposed he could take a short break for now. He turned, worked his way out of the hole, and walked over to the pool. He bent forward, and quenched his thirst, every gallon of water revigorating him further. Soon, he felt fresh again, and he turned back to the hole, jumped in and furiously continued helping Kiaki. After all, he couldn't have her letting do all the work, he was the male for a reason.(Ooc: this will probably be their last stop between where Bhaal thinks Midnight lies [that lies on the opposite direction, they are now headed towards Muerta] with some luck I can get Bhaal in Muerta in time to have epic plot reunion^^. But no need to haste, just FYI ) | |

Kiaki continued to kick up the dirt, her paws and muzzle gathering more and more dust. Her claws ripped at the pebbles and the flew behind her. She was panting slightly, but couldn't appear weak. Just because she was a femme, didn't mean she couldn't work. That being said, she was more speed and agility than muscle. Once Bhaal joined her, she felt her efforts calm down with the help and it wouldn't be long now until a suitable shelter was created. Unless they continued for hours with the work it wouldn't be nearly as substantial as the den they had just left, but the location offered new water and new hunts, and they may not be here for very long.(Ooc: Okay, so where does that leave Kiaki? Considering this is her first thread, there aren't any reunion opportunities for her.)

| A few moments lter, Bhaal halted, as he found that the "den" was suitable enough to cover them a night or two. The only thing he would cherish now, was a piece of warm, juicy meat. "I suppose this will do, you can quit digging." He turned his head to the east. To his disbelief, he saw mountians looming overhead. Muerta? He thought they would be heading to Midnight. Anyway, he just hoped hunting would be good there, as his body craved for food. He knew he couldn't go hunt now, then his wounds would open up again. He then just settled down in the hole, his hulking form taking in most of the free space. He glanced over to Kiaki, and then started daydreaming about food.(Ooc: I suppose Kiaki could just go with Bhaal. I am not sure if Ill have Bhaal even enter Muerta, but he needs to get close for a reunion. No need to worries, we'll just figure it out along the road^^) | |

Kiaki halted her digging and looked into the "den" before Bhaal settled himself inside. There was very little room, but it wasn't a necessity to dig further, and they were only going to be there for another couple of nights. She turned towards the oasis, drinking in the cool water to quench her thirst for the night, then she dipped her paws through the glassy surface to clean the dust and grit off her pads. She flicked her muzzle with her paw, trying to remove the dirt, finally stepping back to shake herself off. To turned to look at Bhaal's form in the hole, and she stepped forward to join him, carefully placing her paws in the whole as to not stand on anything delicate like a particularly sharp rock, or even Bhaal's tail. She settled herself down at last, curling into a ball and wrapping her tail around her paws and rested her head on the ground. It was a tight fit, but she was small, and the whole was surprisingly comfortable and warm. This could definitely suffice for the night.(Ooc: Okay! ^.^ I'll let you figure out what to do with Bhaal and I'll plan Kiaki's path around that.)

| Bhaal glanced at the small femme that settled down near him. His massive form took in most off the hole. He closed his eyes. Dark dreams where overcoming him, and he saw visions from the past, bloody ones. Yet, one thing wasn't familiar with this dream. The face of his brother kept appearing and disappearing, and Bhaal remembered all the good memories of their pup-hood. Being the older one, Bhaal had always protected Congen when he had talked him into problems with the pups of the beta's nest. They had learned to hunt together, and one day floored a bear with only the two of them. It had been in the mid of the winter, when food had been scarce. Their father had been so proud. They had been best friends and better brothers, and always came up for eachother. Until the inciddent.... But Bhaal closed off that moment, and just dreamt of the old young years.

Kiaki twitched slightly in her sleep. It was unsure if she was truly dreaming or not. Her mind was racing, but her thoughts were blank canvasses. Black and stormy, then white, with drifting clouds. A couple of flashes of the heated Lone Lands swam through her mind of those times that she was alone. There was barely a time when she wasn't alone before meeting Bhaal. She couldn't remember playing as a pup, and missed her days of fun. But now was the era of survival, and the barren lands created dust storms and blank spaces of thirst and malnourishment that crept up on her dreams. Whether she whimpered in her empty dreams or aloud, she didn't know, and her dreams told her that if she were to cry out, no one was there to hear. She squirmed in her sleep, trying to find the nearest source of warmth and comfort like a whelp trying to find a familiar scent, and Kiaki's bead brushed against something soft, yet slightly course and warm. Her dreams ebbed away into nothingness at her comfort.

| Bhaal waked when he felt something pushing against his stomach. He turned his head, only to see that Kiaki's head laid against, more on, it. He let out yawn. It was just a few hours further, but it looked like he had more hunger than ever before. His stomach let out a deep growl, and he could swear he saw the stones around trilling. He wanted to hunt, now! very slowly he tried to slip out the hole, his paw holding her head aloft to not let it smack against the ground. When he finnaly succeeded, he turned himself to the "wall" off the hole, every step carefully planned and executed. The last thing he wanted was to step on her tail or so. He worked his way out of the hole, but his large size and weight were working against him for now. He almost slipped back into the hole, but could grip on a branch from a nearby bush, preventing that he would fall back into the hole. And onto Kiaki. When he finnaly "escaped" from the clutches of the hole, he was lightly panting. Then he turned himself to the luring desert, hoping to find prey or, if neccesary, carrion. | |

Kiaki blinked slowly. The den was warm, but she feared if she moved chilly air would catch her. She curled up tighter. "Good mo..." He wasn't there. Kiaki thought he was probably getting a drink from the oasis, so she raised her head to look around the small hole, then stood up and stretched, her muscles vibrating with the tension and she gave a huge yawn. Thinking about Bhaal at the oasis made her thirsty, and as she made to climb out of the hole, her stomach bit back in an angry growl. She wished they had more emergency food like that hare. She managed to pull herself out of the hole, shaking to dust herself off, then walked towards the water.
Bhaal wasn't here either. Hope gripped her as she thought of him hunting, but she was worried he'd reopen his wound. They both needed him to be strong, and stressing his leg won't help that. She bent down to lap up the cool water, and another thought pinched at her heart. What if he hurt himself and she couldn't find him? But what if he had left? She raised her head and looked around at the horizon. There was no sign of another creature, only a single bird flying ahead. He wouldn't leave her. He needed her help with survival because of his injury, and they both knew she needed him, for the lone lands were dangerous to a long wolf. She could probably make her way to the mountains, but she didn't know what pack held those lands, whether pure or evil. Bhaal seemed to know his place (although they were traveling in the wrong direction), and she needed someone strong to walk her through those lands.
She sat down beside the water, occasionally bending down to drink further as she waited, her stomach tightening with anxiety and hunger. She began drinking as though the water was food; as though it would satisfy her empty stomach. She looked from the oasis to the "den", then back to the horizon, waiting.

| Bhaal had been on the search for prey for several hours, and just when he had given up, he picked up the scent of.... buffalo. He turned his head, and indeed, in the distance, he could discern the shape of a small herd. He snarled. In his shape, and alone, he couldn't take down one of those big boys. He tried to find another smell, but the thick stench of wet buffalo made it imposible to pick up any other scent. He then relied on his eyes, and scanned of his surroundings. Then, he saw a one in a million chance. between the rugged bushes, out of the eyeline of the buffalo's, he spotted several coyotes. They were stalking closer to one of the youngs. Altough coyotes weren'r particulary strong, they were fast, and a real threat in numbers. And he counted seven. Atleast. They crept closer, unaware of the black beast behind them, as the wind blew their way, covering them from the buffalo's, and Bhaal from them. He stalked behind them, keeping a good distance between them. He was still pondering over the question how he would catch one, when they suddenly bolted into action.
They had chosen out one of the appearantly weaker youngs, a smaller and weaker animal. Within seconds, had they closed the distnace, and Bhaal now saw there were nine and not seven, as he had anticipated before. While the first coyotes lunged for the legs of the young, Bhaal fired into action. He accelerated, and picked his target, one of the females that where holding the calf's hind legs, and was faced into the wrong direction. Just before he jumped, another let out a warning yelp, but it came to late. Bhaal used his sheer mass to propel him at his prey, and closed his jaws around the back of the little creature. With a satisfying snap, the back broke, and the female died almost directly after. Bhaal had no time to spare, and quickly turned on his heels, leaving astonished coyotes in his wake. Mere seconds later however, a fury of yelp and howls sounded behind him, and Bhaal knew most were direct threats. Uncomfortable -and not wanting to be eaten alive by some random scavengers-, he increased his pace, and quicly fled the scene.
He was heading towards the oasis an half hour later, when the coyotes had given up. In the distance, he could justly discern Kiaki, and somehow, she appeared a bit... anxious. He shrugged. He then glanced to his leg...the wound...it had opened, probably during his sprint to kill, but had already dried up. While he closed in, he hoped she wouldn't notice.

| As he came closer, she saw what he was carrying. "Wow... I've never had coyote before. Never had the chance." She said as the animal was dropped and she stared down at it. It was strange, knowing that this was another canine, and that she was about to feast upon it, but her willingness to try the meat pushed this thought out of her mind. "And er, no. Nothing's wrong." She stammered, but smiled at him, trying to hide her previous concerns. Her stomach growled and his return with kill worth worth his absence... almost. His voice sounded strained, and she looked towards him, then to the oasis. He should drink if he's that thirsty that his voice is altered. She bent down to sniff the corpse, and her stomach growled again as though it knew food was nearby. | |

| "Serve yourself, just leave some for me, I am going to drink something." He said, eager to bathe into the water. He smiled at her, happy she didn't rejected the food, and walked to the water. This was the "dangerous" part, as now she could see his wound. He hoped the food would bring distraction. He closed on the water, and first quenched his thirst. "I might as well take a bath." And without pause, he jumped for the weter.
The cool fluid embraced him, and he felt refreshed instanly. The water flushed of the dirt and clogged blood, and when he glanced back to his leg, it looked a lot better. He came out, and shook of the water. He just hoped he wouldn't catch a cold. he turned to her and walked closer. "Tomorrow were set for Muerta, as I will need some medicinal help for that wound."

Kiaki bent down to rip at the coyote's flesh, fur sticking to her muzzle. "You should have told me you were hunting." She said, not looking away from her feast. She disliked the worry that gripped her when he was gone, and she finally understood what he was hiding. Blood had inked the water with a pinkish hue very briefly, and Kiaki found she didn't need to ask why. It was true, she loved to sleep in, but who didn't? But if there was work to be done and help needed... The longer it took for Bhaal to heal, the slower their journey would be, and Kiaki wasn't the best lone hunter. She was used to being the distraction. The chaser. She didn't have the strength to wrestle something large alone, and she blamed her capture of the bore on luck.

| "Well, I didn't wanted to wake you. And I did fine." He now bented forward for his portion of the meat. It was a bit stuggy and leatherlike, but tasted like meat in the overall. He pulled out a bone, and broke it with a hard crunch. His tongue scrapped the marrow out, and when he was done, he sat down and let out a small yawn. He then lied down, his head resting on his paws. He could feel his wound ache, but not as bad as before his bath. But someone with experience would have to take a look at it, and the neared place where the pack of Muerta. He had no problems with dark wolves, but didn't knew how Kiaki would react on it. After all, she still hadn't seen what lied in him, something that dark, when released, the wolves of Jabbar and Muerta would look like the nicest wolves on earth, in comparison to him. His dark eyes glanced to Kiaki. | |

| She looked down at him, her eyes narrowing as they passed by his wound. She walked over to the oasis and drank her fill. Her reflection danced in the ripples as the lashes of her tongue disturbed the surface. Once she was done, she too rested herself beside Bhaal. She looked over to the mountains. He wouldn't be hurt forever, but she didn't know what wolves packed there, nor where their hearts lay. From memory, her pack had been neutral. They kept to themselves. But there had been stories of dark wolves in the mountains, and Kiaki was yet to meat anyone of the sort to her knowledge. She was also curious as to what would happen to the duo once they arrived. Bhaal needed medical aid, but what if their hearts weren't pure? And what would her fate be? She quickly glanced over at Bhaal, their eyes meeting briefly before she closed hers and lowered her head. Too many thoughts were travelling through her head, and she shut her eyes tight, trying not to think of her possible future. | |

| Bhaal slept. He slept a dreamless sleep, one that lasted seconds, and when he opened his eyes again, he could tell he had wake up too late. It was already night for some hours, and their ideal traveling time was shortened significantly. Luckily they didn't had to go that far, Muerta was just hours away. He walked over to Kiaki, who lied amost against him, and pushed her shoulder with his muzzle. "It's time to go, I don't want to get catched in the heat of the day." He then turned, not waiting on her reaction, and walked up tothe pool, where he quenched his thirsty throat. "What do you know about Muerta?" he said, before turning around. | |

| Bhaal chuckled a little. "Well, first and most important you need to know is, that from all packs, I consider the wolves from Muerta as the bunch of meanest, cold-blooded killers around these parts. Off course, there are worse rogues, and the pack is hold in tight discipline by their Queen, Akira. Let's just hope they have a doctor." He then turned, and walked of into the desert, the mountians looming overhead. He didn't knew himself whether or not he would go t them. Long ago, he had considered joining them, but he hadn't dared entering their lands anounced. He had slipped in several times, and had observed some of them, but he never had come close to the so called "main area" or any of them. He had always stalked them from the distance. He knew pretty much about them as a pack, and who was who, but almost nothing about them personally. He shrugged. Whatever the future holded for them, he hoped it wasn't something unpleasant. | |
