PostSubject: Re: .:. Lacrimosa Lake   .:. Lacrimosa Lake - Page 9 Icon_minitimeTue Apr 17, 2012 9:18 pm

Tree…Tree…Tree…Tree…Boulder…Tree…The depth of the forest had always seemed like a dangerously wonderful place, and one could never expect what was just ahead of them, even if they were among the most skilled of trackers. Yet now after having been in the snowy mountains, the deep green valleys, the frigid ice sheets, and the yellow beaches of these lands in a relatively short period of time, Vault had grown used to the monotony of long travels. Let me guess, he thought. There’s going to be more sets of trees 100 meters from now. And, unfortunately enough, his prediction was supported, and the dark green forest continued. However, the sights of the forest were a comforting sign that he was close to where he needed to be. Vault could look forward to that, as his orange orbs radiated in their usual glow and his dark brown pillars never slowed in pace. His time was running out to preserve the state of the plants he now carried gingerly in his maw, but the distance from the checkpoint seemed so close that it no longer played a factor in his mission; the flowers and herbs were still moist and colored with chlorophyll.

Finally, familiar signs began to appear. The sky had darkened from its usual blue hue to a never-ending thickness of grey. The ground was thick with suffocating fog. The light between trees had turned to almost complete darkness, and eyesight no longer became the most reliable sense. Even the earth beneath him crumbled like ash debris; so dead and lifeless yet so distinct. He never faltered or broke stride to truly look at the changes around him, for his subconscious had detected it well enough that he never had to move his eyes from the direction straight in front of him. The trees became wider and wider apart, until the wet sand and the lake lay in front of him, glistening without light. He pads sunk in without hesitation to the remembered ground, as he marched towards the pride rock and Evon’s location. No other wolves seemed to be in the area, but he figured everyone had returned from their various duties at this point. The queen’s white sinister form grew closer and closer in his vision. His formed skulked forward until he was only about a foot from her face, housing those ice cold pools that struck right down into her soul. In that sense, she hadn’t changed much as far as he could remember. He bowed his head, delicately dropping the massive, colorful bundle of various healing plants he had successfully taken from Tirisfal. Seeing Epica nearby, he simply gave a respectful nod to her, recognizing her presence (and her resemblance to Evon). “I’m baaacck.” he said in a sing-song voice that still resonated his normal deadpan sarcasm. He looked up at her from his bowed position, the seriousness still burning in his eyes. His maw returned back to the ground, as he quickly began to organize the flowers and herbs according to species (more for his preference than her’s). With his nose so close to the earth, he noticed the new scent that had entered Lacrimosa. It was definitely a young bru, but he couldn’t tell where he had originally come from; the scent had an almost similar uniqueness to the ones he remembered from the Black Pearl. “So, whose the rube?” he asked, concerning the new member he sensed, his head never leaving the ground as he continued to organize. “Is it the one Chimera brought in?”

Every so often, Epica had something up her coat Evanescence could not see. It was what kept things interesting, and right now, that was her little whelp. She was surprised that there was no plan for him - then again, she was the planner and the executioner of the family. "Hmm..." she hummed, mulling over what possible purpose Mav could have serving Lacrimosa. She watched as Epica nipped his side, forcing him to stand up and bow, even though it was a messy bow at that. Regardless, he would need a lot of teaching, moreso than Rob. She considered what would be happening in the near future, and smirked. "I have come to a conclusion - he will be trained, in the traditional ways. At the end of the summer, I will be bringing back a whelp from one of the packs. Mav will be her little 'friend', you see. He will need to watch her every move, her captor of sorts. Then when he's older, we could train him to be an executioner," she replied, cerulean eyes sparking with darkness as she moved her gaze from Epica to the pup. No matter what kind of personality he had, every wolf could fit the mold for Lacrimosa, given the right kind of training.

A sing-song voice caught her auds and her smirk dropped when she spied Vault returning several meters away. "If that's not a plan for him, we'll think of something more appropriate when the time comes," she said to her sister, before getting up and inspecting the herbs the thief of the pack laid out. He began to sort them into piles, but Evon did not need to see them sorted to know what each one was. There was valerian, purple coneflower, comfrey, milk vetch, chamomile, catnip, dandelion, aloe, garlic, cat's claw, and many more. It delighted her that she had been correct in assessing that Tirisfal had the best healing stashes. "Excellent work, Vault. You've certainly earned your place here in the pack," she said, taking a step back and allowing him to do whatever he needed to do. "You've traveled a long way. Take a load off. It will be a couple of hours before I call the pack to a meeting, now that everyone has returned. As for the rube, yes, it is the one Chimera brought in. He needs a bit of work. They're sparring in the clearing to the north, I believe."

Mort hadn't really slept a lot, as he had been in a state between sleep and restlessness. After a few more minutes of staring at the cave's eroded walls, he decided to see whether there was some action to be found above. His muscled, scrawny body made it's way outside, and after a moment of staring at a squirrel in a tree, he was on his way towards the lake. Approaching it, he saw a familiar figure next to Evon. Vault. It seemed like he had returned from whatever mission Evon had sent him on. Wondering where the rest was, he started to wander to the two wolves, approaching at a pace that clearly indicated that he was distracted. He actually wondered if there'd been some food around, as he had grown hungry from... well, doing nothing. At the end he just decided to set himself down next to Vault, silently watching as he sorted out what appeared to be flowers to him. Mort never had thought of Vault as the romantic type.

Nothing. There wasn't anything threatening. She recognized the scents that entered the lands except for two. One came with another from the pack, so she didn't bother to look. The other had held herself high and faintly smelled of the lands, and so left her alone and continued to finish her rounds. There weren't any other wolves who had been related to the deceased one.

Satisfied, she turned back towards the main area, taking her time in case she missed something. Although there were wolves, it was quiet. Soon enough, though, she guessed it'd pick up again. Places like this normally did. Until then, she guessed she might as well start to mentally prepare herself.

Rob could not bring himself to meet her eyes again. Shame burned hot across his face and the back of his neck. Her scent was in his nose and even if he did not look directly at her, his eyes followed her feet. Ears swiveling listening to her enticing words. He could not quite explain what was happening to him. Just that he was still confused but when Chimera was here he felt..less so. She was something of Tirisfal even if she was not from there. Her presence reminded him that here and now he had come for a purpose. She spoke of training him and he felt his face get hot once more, though he wasn't sure why. So when she indicated that he follow he merely murmured a quiet 'Yes' and proceeded to follow on her heals. She show no fear of him and he put that down to the fact that he probably looked like a fool when he attacked her. He was pretty sure his sister was probably more intimidating than he was. He growled at himself noticing that he was falling behind. Intent on keeping on he picked up his pace forgetting his angst trying to learn and navigate a new place. He listened to what she had to say nodding to her, absorbing the information. He knew it would be critical if he were to be staying here. He saw the wolves that were hear though he would not admit that they intimidated him. Chimera's attitude was oddly light given the recent events and though he didn't quite feel up to her pace he could not help the soft smile forming around his mouth.

Finally stopping he glanced around familiarizing himself with the area. She turned and faced him and he found his shyness had dissipated through the trek. He locked gazes with her and saw the challenge in her eyes before she spoke. A strange feeling rising up along his spine. He tasted metal in his mouth and found needing...something...it was a strange feeling, not the same as when Chimera was near him, her scent in his nose. No, this was the need to dominate something. A primitive feeling tugging him towards her with a desire to make her bow in submission. His muscles convulsed all over his body trying to check the instinct and just like that it subsided.

She challenged him to catch her and his eyebrow shot up. "Aren't you tired?" He said gently. Though all the same he advanced forward, sidestepping around her. His head slowly lowering.

Strange how quickly one could forget the sight of deads pups..

Chimera looked at him and then her tail wagged, her golden eyes challenged him. "To be strong you must be able to fight even when you are tired." She said dancing away from him, a fleet grey shadow. She had seen the way he paused....the way his muscles surged just below the skin and resettled themselves. There was something there...Rob would be a powerful wolf in time. Dangerous and strong. The thought brought a smile to her lips.

She watched him move foward and she stopped her dance waiting for him to make the first move. Her eyes trained on every muscle, trying to calculate just what he was aiming for when he did. "You must remember to protect your throat...but also to take chances." She explained. "If an enemy can be killed if you present him with an opportunity." She lifted her own throat, flashing it at him like some sort of prize. "And he takes it....you have the advantage because you know what he is going for. Understand. In the same token...when fighting. You do not want to let your enemy know what you are thinking....what your motives are." She said watching him.

She had him and her tail wagged, this way...that way....a seductive sweep. Golden eyes watching him. Waiting for him to move. She wondered if he would heed her clues to fighting or if he would aim for her throat right away. It was interesting. He was intruiging and she almost could scent that power that rippled beneath his skin.

Rob felt strange for trying to calculate an attack on Chimera. He didn't really want to. But still he advanced, auds flicking listening to her words. He had heard his father speaking like this before. And while he never wholly payed attention he still picked up a few tidbits. Definitely didn't mean he knew how to fight. Brains are just important as brawn..those words he had heard too. Though he was not sure where. The gap was closing between them and he found himself staring at her eyes, the sweep of her languid body. His mind snapped to attention, he was one step short of gawking at her. He was surprised his mouth hadn't been hanging open. Shaking his head to refocus himself he lowered his dome to protect his throat as was told to him and as was instinct. Again he surprised himself when a soft growl rumbled up from his barrel. How queer to actually be fighting someone who was not Jewel. A familiar heart clench at the thought of his sister but he still it and focused on the task at hand. Clacking his teeth together he responded to her.
"So what is the appropriate way to strike from the front?" His eyes lingered on her jaw, shoulders and chest. His steps moving him forward. The tension was palpable and he felt his muscles coiling with an almost painful energy to shoot forward. It was then he made his move, lunging forward towards her face but checking himself with his own body weight and going for for her side.

Chimera smiled. That low growl music to his ears. "Surprise is your most effective weapon in attacking from the front." She said her eyes watching his sweep over her body and linger on her front. "But speed is more important in a frontal assault." That is when he sprang. She could see the tenseness in his muscles before he moved. It was a clever move. "GOod!" She praised him then turned her own bodyin to close with him. touching her nose as she mock "bit' him, here at the front of the chest and on the side of the neck. SHe gave him an opportunity to retaliate. Lifting her chin just so, exposing a bit of the neck, baiting him.

She needed to be careful with him. Encourage him....mold him....and that might meen building his confidence at first with little victories. Dancing back she flicked her tail. "You will never get the throat the first nab if your opponant knows you are coming...unless they are so weak when you find them they cannot fight you back. The sides of the neck, the face, ears, legs...all are useful weapons...don't forget. THe neck is were you kill your victim, the rest is wearing them down....." She smirked. It was like a bit of torture. "Sometimes if death isn't warranted you can even cripple a wolf...a crushing bite to the foreleg....a snapped hamstring.." She cooed at him. "They can be beautiful things in battle."

She would lope around his body, touching his hock with her nose immitating that torn hamstring. "Wolves least expect getting treated like the very deer and elk we hunt." She said smirking then presented another attack angle for him, standing sideways.

He would be a warrior. She would see to that. He was just young...but that power rippling under his skin. It almost made her want to lick her jaws.

Vault hadn't taken the time to linger after Evon's words, and was wandering towards the woods that held a tight grip around the desolate lake waters, yet always somehow looking to have a purpose. He didn't plan on rest; detouring towards the unfamiliar warmth of the Black Pearl was the closest thing to rest he needed. Plus, he did not plan on sleeping out of schedule. For as long as he could remember, he purposely slept on a true hunter's terms. That is, he was polyphasic, and rested his eyes about two hours a day at multiple times over 24 hours. Less overall sleep, more chances to hunt. Less chance to ever be off-guard or vulnerable from those who may wish to do him harm.

His orange orbs did not deviate, though his auds and mind did. He knew Mort was nearby. He smelled the blood encrusted deep within his pelt and soul, so thick in history that it probably never truly went away. Plus, Mort had a certain...weirdness...that gave a slightly unnerving presence to the air. Corentine was portrolling and preparing, too. He had no doubt in the boredom she felt from the lack of action going about at the moment. Where was the war? Where was the REAL tactics and violence. He couldn't read minds, but based on what Evon was surmounting to, the time would be soon. Vault felt no real need to check in with these wolves; his agenda didn't concern them, and he highly doubted that they cared he was back. Using poison and slitting throats was what he was okay with, not usually social talks, unless it was the others that initiated them. And then there was the new additions. Evon had mentioned Chimera and the young bru were sparring in a clearing. He couldn't quite hear them, but the leaves and trees rippled with the silent echo of distant grunts and adrenaline. The true action hadn't started yet. He had no need to join in, unless he felt like raining on someone's parade.

Rather then entering the trees of the forest, Vault had become engulfed by conifers; consumed by the beastly nature of the land. A trackable scent was close. Maybe that was where he should spend time. But the thoughts of the plans to come was what kept his mind truly occupied.

Epica circled around the now young male. "You're growing mighty fine, and with summer here, you'll need to work up your abilities so you can live through the winter, do you understand?" she watched him nod, not looking at her, not looking anywhere else besides what's in front of him, but even then, he wasn't looking at anything, just paying attention to everything going around. "What is your objective?" she asked coming and sitting in front of him so he looked at her chest, more through her chest. "Befriend her" he said softly reciting what he had learned mentally. "And how will you do that?" She asked looking down at him. "Lie" he said softly again never breaking his day dream glare. "Stand" he did as he was told and didn't move anywhere else. "Shall we dance?" She asked and his body instantly moved. "Shall we?" He didn't say a word. Instantly it was a battle. They moved and moved, she batted at him and he moved away. Avoid the danger then. He slammed into her and she felt the air leave her lungs. She pushed back against him and then he nipped her legs and she jumped. He was getting smarter. A smile played on her maw and she grabbed his neck. "Leave yourself open" she said through a mouth full of fur "And you'll die" and she flipped him over. He dug at her body with his paws and the nails scraped her chest drawing little blood droplets on her cream pelt. "Good job" but her teeth clenched down and he dug deeper trying to catch air.

"Enough" she stepped away and let him go. He jumped up, fire raging in his eyes. "Come on" she urged him and then he jumped at her. "Good" she said, and he kept coming. "Good Good" she smiled and he lunged again, she knocked him down. "When you're bigger you will be able to kill me" he instantly stopped and stepped back. "But you're the closest thing to family I've got, I don't want to kill you" He dropped his gaze and looked around the ground. "Don't do that" she said softly, and he looked up at her, the conversation was over. She nodded her head towards the main area and he turned around without saying a word walking back and she followed him taking a deep breath entering into the main area seeing her sister and nodding towards her.

Vault walked away without a word. Evanescence smirked behind him, watching him go, just as she noticed her sister and the whelp she brought with her coming near. There was a gleam in Epica's eye and, judging from the panting from the boy, they had just been sparring. Excellent. Everyone would be training this summer. Her own muscles were loose, and she knew that she was out of shape. "Epica," she barked, short and commanding, enough to catch her sister's attention. "What say you and I dance? It's been an awfully long time since I've had fun with another Lacrimosa," she said with gleaming teeth, white plume curling around her hackles. Normally, she would have challenged Temptation, but Temptation was clearly out of the picture these days... and Epica always provided a challenge, no matter what. One could say that they were often equally matched in strength and wit, though Evon proved to be smaller in size. But what she lacked in size, she made up for in blinding speed.

"Everyone else is either training or resting from their journeys. And, well, I grow bored of listening to the cicadas," she snorted, padding up to her larger, mirror image. She glanced down at Mav. "Maybe the whelp could learn a thing or two, if you'd allow him to spectate."

Mav hadn't jumped when Evon called her name, that was a good thing. He wasn't as skiddish as he used to be. When he sister spoke Epica watched her laughing with her eyes. So much talking and not enough sparing. She looked down at Mav who was watching her, almost excited, she smiled and nodded to the side. "This shall be interesting, let me have a small word first..." She turned and nudged the pup to the side so he'd move and he did as he was physically told. Her body was facing away from her sister, she commanded him to watch, and as he nodded she turned quickly and jumped for her sister. Her hackles were down, she didn't aim to kill, this was a dance, this was a show and she knew it, if Evon took it to far, well, Lacrimosa wolves were known for their deeds and temper, hopefully this wouldn't get to bad.

She danced though, as her sister wished, and aimed middle, aiming for her sisters face, not to harm, not to mark, but to begin this dance and challenge, free play challenge...

That oh-so-familiar grin adorned the white witch's black leather lips, diamond fur bristling as she lowered herself into a crouch, like a panther waiting to pounce. Ebony talons dug at the thickly-bedded earth beneath her. She did not jump at Epica's back - no, this was her sister, another Lacrimosa. They were not aiming to kill, but to dance, however deadly the dance may be. She found herself wondering at who would draw first blood. Before she could ponder about it too long, she could see that Epica was ready, because she jumped right for her.

Evanescence kicked herself back, avoiding the blow. Epica landed where she once was, and Evon flanked to her sister's left side, teeth slightly bared and aiming for her hackles. She made sure to keep her own hackles safe behind her and away from Epica's jaws. So many times, so many times, had they gone through the motions of this dance... and now with Mav on the sidelines, they had an audience. When they danced, they always had an audience. Their father was a key figure in overseeing their development, and it had always been a competition to be his heir, since everyone knew that his son was a waste of his time. In the end, of course, Evanescence won, as she always did. But as before, the challenge was always there. She did not expect anything less from Epica this time, either.

The flash of white. Past memories came wandering into her mind as the dance came into play. It was always like that. Evon was always this machine of white and death. It was hot air that made Epica jump forward. She felt her sister's teeth close around her fur yanking out a tuff. It's been so long since anyone has danced with her. She thought of the male and her mind wandered to Mav. Interesting she'd think of the pup now and a slight anger built in her body. She had pulled herself from her sister, the slight sting of having hair ripped out without warning pulsed through her. Defense came on and she turned around rather quickly looked at her sister before gliding forward. She kept her head level again, not wanting to expose anything of herself. But as she jumped forward she turned reaching for her sister's shoulder wanting to not exactly rip into it, but more bite, bump, their game of tag had begun now...

So quick to react... This was what made a dance with Epica so interesting. Evanescence saw a flash of anger in her sister's eyes, her ivory hair in her teeth; Evon sidestepped her leap, but felt the brush of muscle against her own. If Epica had had her talents out, it would have been a sure hit, but for now, it was glancing blow, one that neither knocked her off her feet nor drew blood. She swiveled around as Epica did so that they were facing one another once more, eyes locked, steps matching as they circled each other, like autumn leaves spiraling together in the wind.

Evanescence was never to be one on the defensive. She lunged, low and snake-like, ears pinned back and arcing for Epica's neck, legs, underbelly. Anything near the ground was vulnerable. It was a move that blinded many, as they were so used to having an opponent attack them from up high, but Evon was small and fast and used her stature to her advantage. She curved her hindquarters ever-so-slightly, avoiding a blow to them if Epica was to respond from directly above, but she knew they would be fair game if Epica responded with an attack to the side. She would have to be quick as lightning to make contact, body and mind focused completely on the dance, as it would be in a true battle.

The winds high above them blew eastward, bringing in low-bearing cumulus clouds from the west. They were dark, swinging in low as they did near this particular forest, but not quite threatening rain. The air cooled, queer for such a summer day, but Lacrimosa was no ordinary place. Somewhere far off, the thunder rumbled, as if still trapped behind the mountains. A storm would be upon them soon, and as if she were a part of the forest, Evon knew this without having to divide her attention. It was instinct. As natural as the steady heartbeat in her ears, as innate as the calm breathing within her chest. Lacrimosa was just a part of her as she was of it.

And when the storm came, she knew it would be time for a test that required the whole pack.

Mort had been strolling around the place, actually looking for Evon, but not actually trying to find her. PArt of him wanted to find out what rank he had earned in the pack, part of him was to lazy to follow the obvious signs of her whereabouts. She'd probably be at the lake, handling pack things. He could really use soe conversation. Real conversation that is. Dead pups and skulls are great listeners, but they couldn't reply to him sadly enough. Vault should be around here though. His lind wandered off, and it didn't took him long to find the big wolf. Altough different, Lacrimosa had that same...air, as Necropolis. Moisty, but not wet. Quiet, yet so full of..."life". He felt home, and had no problem navigating the forest. Vault seemed to track something, so Mort bounced next to him, enthiousiastic, shouting: "Heya Vault, wat's ya doing?"

Vault was not usually a believer in peace. To him, it was just a wolf’s ignorance to his past and future, shutting out the ever-growing threats to survival from one’s surroundings. But as Vault padded softly through the thick darkness of Lacrimosa’s woods, the lands remained quiet. The lack of urgency to do anything and the hushed nature among the large hardwoods made it feel almost welcoming. A stranger might think the whisperless darkness to be eerie or frightening, like they were being stalked, but he was satisfied with such an atmosphere. Suddenly, the patter of footfalls approached at his side, his dark brown auds moving at the unexpected arrival of sound. Definitely a wolf, he thought; definitely Mort. The bru’s animated bark did not waver Vault’s fake concentration on tracking the scent just ahead of him; his body language acted as if there was still silence. “Looking for a rock to bash my head in with,” he responded in his usual cold tone to Mort. Continuing to move, he lifted his dial from its position towards the ground and turned to face Mort at full height, his glowing orange orbs looking at the bru’s entirely white eyes. He spoke again, thinking Mort might take his statement too seriously and begin to help him find a suitable bludgeoning boulder. “Just passing time. Thought I could find something to eat.” He subconsciously altered the angle he was trekking, sensing the trail beginning to move to his left. “You want in?” He tended to be more successful alone, but he still valued help (sometimes), and figured Mort needed something to do just as much as he did.

Robin felt the frustration of a missed hit with a bitter tang in his mouth. Stranger how his anger absolutely throbbed as he made no bodily contact. Her scent danced passed him and he felt it hook into his skin with an electric current. Eyes tracked her movements and she gave him a neck opening but he didn't take it despite the temptation. He didn't trust her and it could be a trap. He may be inexperienced but he would try to not make a fool of himself. A low growl and he turned with her as she moved to present herself sideways. Eyes flicked down her length and he almost forgot what he was doing but only for a moment as his muscles roiled under his pelt eager to be stretched. Her words ran down into his ears and the calm of them against the tension made the words stick and echo in his mind. He stepped towards her his face set in determination. if he were to learn he would do it right. The image of a deer being ham stringed flashed through his mind and he inwardly winced. What a terrible fate.

Taking a few more cautious steps forward he was with a foot of her body ready to spring if she should decide to attack. Nervously he lowered his body and jumped forward swiping at her almost like a cat before quickly retreating. Would she retaliate against him or would that be saved for later more extensive training sessions?

Corentine looked at the tree in front of her, a bit worse for the wear, but not in danger of dying. She was careful to remain respectful of the forest she knew nothing about. Although she didn't believe in the supernatural, she figured it'd be wise to not to tempt anything. There were minor scratches and indents in the bark of the trees around her, but she took care to keep in mind to keep that damage minor while still training at full speed and strength. This helped her train her mind along with her body. There was fatigue making itself known, but she was used to working under worse mental strain. She wouldn't have survived all this time if she couldn't.

She didn't know where the others were, and at the moment, didn't care. Evanescence wasn't calling, so she was still free to do what she wished. She wasn't tired, so taking a quick nap wasn't an option. Sitting down, in front of one of the trees, she closed her eyes, resting in a meditative state. There was no concern for her surroundings, since she'd be able to tell when something approached so long as she kept focus on being still in body and mind.

Corentine had always been worried when her mentor first introduced her to meditation. Sight was a sense she heavily relied on, as she used it to make observations. Without seeing, how was she expected to know when something was coming? Sure, she could smell and hear, but they weren't enough without sight. But no, her mentor had commanded her to practice anyways. He said it'd help her with future tasks once she was promoted. To this day, she wasn't as good as she should be, but not many wolves knew about meditation for it to matter in the first place.

Chimera would watch him closely. She had baited him and awaited his movement. He was more cautious now...which was good for training but in the heat of battle a hesitated step could land you in hot water. She smiled as she allowed him the briefest of contact with that swipe as she danced to the side, hoping to draw out his confidence a little more.

"Quick.." She complimented. She had to balance her words. Sweet and harsh. If she was too harsh she would loose him...too sweet and he would never bloom into the warrior she knew he was. SHe licked her lips slowly, pink tongue caressing the black liner that surrounded her maw. Her tail dropped slightly as if becoming more relaxed and she approached him fully. "You have a lot to learn...but you ooze potential Rob." She said her voice almost a purr. "You are going to be a formidible force someday." Her tail flicked softly in a pleased manner.

Oh how she wanted to speed up this training. To show him deceptions to play on thine enemy ...games to fool them into trusting you...much like the one she played upon him and his pack. Her nostrils flared. His scent was so masculine and though he was young and probably couldn't outlast any of the brutes here now...he would...she would see to that personally. It almost made her salivate.

"We will train everyday. You will become great." She said and nosed his cheek affectionately with a coy smile upon her lips. "Come now. ..we rest from our journey and eat. I hunger." She flicked an ear hearing Evon in battle and the thunder looming. Music to her ears. "It's so good to be home." She sighed and bumped Rob's shoulder to lead him into the thick undergrowth to find a hare or perhaps something truly helpless.

Epica felt the contact in her leg. She wanted to yelp, but brain and action took over before anything else. She shoved her leg farther into Evon's mouth and turned her own body. She wanted to strike at her sister's side. Blood trickled down her leg and she felt it, it stained the cream colored coat that she was blessed with. Moss and a good washing would need to be applied to stop infection. Why was she thinking about this? She was a healer, that's why. The fight was moving in slow motion, her thoughts seemingly in normal time speed. Very interesting. Adrenalin, that's what was causing this. The dance with her sister seemingly having brought out the best of Lacrimosa's abilities. Her eyes searched for Mav, he stood off to the side and was calm looking, almost as if bored but she knew, having been around him long enough, as he watched, he soaked in every single ounce of what was happening between the sisters who danced before him.

Epica's blood trickled into her mouth, her sister's leg shoving itself into it; it was only near the incisors, enough to rip the skin, but not enough to tear the muscle and cause permanent damage. No, it was not that Evon was soft, for neither was Epica. There was a value in one another's strength, and to land a hit was good enough. But, for the split-second hat Epica's leg was in her mouth, Evon didn't realize that Epica had thrown away the urge to flee and instead chose to strike at her side. There was the sting of fangs ripping away skin and she released her sister's leg, swinging her body around to keep her from getting more. That shouldn't have happened... She was usually faster than Epica, and it was supposed to be impossible for most to land a hit on her. She was now the Queen of Lacrimosa, afterall. No one should be able to conquer her. She watched as Epica paused, searching for Mav, who was watching.

Evon snorted and spit Epica's blood out of her mouth. "I never did like the taste of your blood... It's sour, like poison," she commented, referencing to battles past. She could feel her own blood seep from the shallow wound, staining her winter-hued coat. This wouldn't do. The back of her mind raced, wondering how Epica could have landed a hit on her, but she would not allow her front to show the panic. If Epica, her opponent, saw her panic, then the fight would be completely out of her favor. Evon maintained her cold mask with an even colder smirk. This was what dances were for. Testing each other's strengths. She knew her body was no longer in its prime condition, but that did not mean she would let it fall into disrepair. No. Her father had been much older than he had looked, and it was all because he kept himself fighting fit. She would do the same, and she lunged at Epica again, swinging to the left and wondering if she could make use of her sister's distraction.

Robbie was surprised when he made contact but it was nothing to blow his ego up over. Stepping back and watching her warily he saw her advance towards him. The sway of her body put him on edge and he was prepared for an assault but found none. Her body relaxed as she approached but he did not. He felt the lines blurring in his head threatening to drag him under into a tumult of rage. As she got closer his battle instincts told him to desert and back away but her scent was in his nose and he fell once more under her spell. His eyes flashed a heated emotion his auds twitching listening to her honeyed words but there was steel in her words. Steel in her period. He found the urge to master that steel rising up but he quelled it with a force of will. She was speaking and he must listen.

It seemed that their training session was over ...that was quick. But he was hungry just like her and he nodded his assent to catching a meal. There were sounds of struggling wolves and he cast a nervous glance at her but she seemed not to take much notice so he too shrugged it off and followed her into the brush. His blood was still running hot and he swallowed several times before clearing his throat and speaking. "So...what is there to eat around here...no big game I'd imagine?" Something larger would be preferred but seemed too good to be true.He waited for her to take the lead, him being ever so unsure of himself.

"Don't let them get away with killing you, you have to kill them too you know. With your blood. Remember that. As much as you can heal a wolf, you can kill one with your own self as well. And if you ever feel out of sorts with a character's behavior, poison them so they cannot move. Are you listening Epica?" There was always some new lesson learned during her classes, but as she sat there listening to everything, even a breath that was drawn by the healer of the pack, she also watched her sisters spar with males of the pack. They got to fight. Why couldn't she. Her orbs turned towards the elder and she nodded. "Kill them with myself if I ever die. I'll remember that" She would too, for future battles that would come in handy, and so it did, many times over, the virgin healer had killed many male who tried to claim her, and she would keep killing, she liked that control the one tactic they had no idea she held...

Her eyes flashed at her sisters words, a memory floating through her mind. "Ah yes, isn't it so. I haven't been taking proper precautions here, so don't worry, you wont die, just don't do it again, to much of a bad thing isn't always the be--" words cut short and she felt the wind leave her chest. She didn't know Evon still wanted to play, but she did. She landed on her side and drew in a breath as best she could shallow, slow, and deep. "Angry much?" she smirked and rose slowly to her feet shaking her head. "Don't think someone is ever done Maverick, specially if they start talking, it's never over till someone dies" She flashed a smile to her sister and then lurched forward stopping just before her. "Or until someone resigns. Like I am. Or she will kill me and I wont get to take her with me" She bowed down before her sister showing the back of her neck for just a split second before standing up and backing away. "Hope you understood that."

Orbs locked with her sister for just a second. "I feel restless. Winter is coming and I can feel things stirring everywhere." She walked over to a bush gathering a few things in her mouth and chewing them. She walked over to her sister and with a full maw barely got out the words 'don't move it might sting' before she pressed her lips on the cut she gave her sister. She pushed it into the wound and then stepped back with a smile. "You'll live, just don't wash, it's pulling out things that, well, shouldn't be there no matter how mild it is" Orbs flashed with another memory and slowly she turned her head to Mav as if stalking a prey she took a steady normal but slightly deeper breath, the boys father, she wanted him dead now. With that passing moment she turned back to Evon. "What's your next game play sister" she smirked saying sister and then furrowed her brow, there was still one missing, their floosey sister. Damn....

"Not exactly," Evon replied, her plume swinging high over her back. Though she and Epica stood on almost equal ground, Evon was still the Queen here, and family or not, she would make herself respected that way. A fire surged through her shoulder as Epica pressed the herbs to them. She winced, but did not move. She was used to the pain. "You know it's been a long time since I've had the chance to dance with anyone, especially with someone of equal strength and skill. I've missed you," she cooed with a slight smirk and devil eyes. She licked her lips, her tongue still saturated with the sour taste of her sister's blood. She didn't know why it tasted like poison; she had the feeling it was a Lacrimosa secret, one that only the herbalists knew. It was none of her business, really.

Evon raised her head at her sister's question. "Winter will be coming soon. Everyone here has proven themselves so far. I believe it's time to put things into motion," she replied, with a side glance at Mav. He was just sitting there, watching them. What was going on through his tiny brain? Evon inwardly smiled. She would have a use for him, too. When Epica was finished with the herbs and the bleeding had stopped, she strode over to the slab of rock outcropped a few feet above Lacrimosa Lake, the pack's meeting grounds. Her shoulder still felt as if it was on fire, but it was now cooling, like ice. She raised her head and howled: "Everyone. Come to me. We are ready to begin bringing our Hell."

Emerald eyes slowly opened at the sound of Evanescence's intriguing call. Corentine took one last glance about before turning her back on the patterns of her training. Some damage, but nothing broken. Had this been against a wolf, she wouldn't have held back. The trees did nothing to her but provide shelter, and draw prey in. Entering a run, she headed in the direction of the summoning howl, not knowing what'd happen, but excited. They'd finally find some action in the near future.

She slowed as she neared, noticing not many wolves were around. Having been further away, she'd thought she's arrive around the same time as the rest at her pace. Perhaps they were further than she thought... Coming to a stop, she glanced upwards at Evanescence's form, standing atop the rock so she'd be standing higher than the wolves she'd be addressing, as generals to their subordinates. Her own body stood at attention in accordance to the familiarity of the action that had been carefully cultivated.

Before any further action could be made, Vault's auds caught the call of Evon from behind where he and Mort had been ascending, her presence like a whisper that had followed them from the deep green darkness of the forest before the land kaskaded into the mercury waters of Lacrimosa. His orange orbs glanced back under a furrowed brow, as if his vision could penetrate the brush directly to meet the icy eyes looking from the pride rock. Without looking back to the other bru, he casually began to turn around to the direction of the lake. "Well so much for that," he said in a dark tone, referring to the hunt that would never commence. "Gluttony never served anyone right, anyway," he mumbled.

Hell-bringing was one on a short list of activities that would entice and bring out Vault's fullest potential, though he didn't call it by that name: he never thought death needed the glorified suffering of Hell to back up its pain. Hell was a myth, or at least a delayed punishment; he'd like to make it more than real. Vault lumbered his shoulder, his eyes glowing as usual and his muscle stretching and preparing itself under his coat with every movement. His mind had been in a light daze, the kind of tired feeling when a daunting, if not exciting, task looms and the body holds the excitement in; bottles the adrenaline for later use, not wanting to waste it now. He figured Mort would return back in time, not giving warning of his own leave, as he keyed in on the black arbors downrange and his pillars sprung their potential energy. His striding gallop was unhindered, wind passing overhead and trees guarding each side, giving him a sweet taste of what was to come as he glided through the darkness. Finally within sight of the silver liquid, it was not long before he had broke the clearing and slowed to a heavy trot, the weight on his legs dispersing through the sandy rock underfoot as he approached Evon and now Corentine. He wondered how she had gotten here from the borderlands before anybody else. He no longer looked to be seething with death wishes, disappearing as his gallop had moments ago. His features told little. Now standing alongside Corry at the rock that boldly lurched over the edge of Lacrimosa's waters, he gave no nod to authority and no audible acknowledgements. He just stared into Evon's orbs, the fire playing with her ice, waiting for what was next.
